A Warm Marriage After Rebirth

Chapter 64: Chapter 64: Out of Control Kimberly Jennings

”Mom, it’s okay, don’t panic! It’s all over! There’s no danger! No danger at all!” Seraphina Sterling gripped Kimberly Jennings’s arms, trying her best to console her.

”You don’t understand! You don’t know! It’s dangerous here, they’ve already found us! They’re coming after us, we have to go now! Right now!”

It was as if Kimberly Jennings couldn’t hear Seraphina Sterling’s words. She clutched the suitcase tightly with one hand and gripped Seraphina Sterling’s wrist with the other. At this very moment, there was only one thought in her mind: Leave this place! She had to leave immediately!

”Mom, calm down! Who are ’they’? Who’s coming for us?” Seraphina Sterling had never seen Kimberly Jennings in such a state of panic. ”Did Justin Hale do something to you?”

The moment Kimberly Jennings heard the name Justin Hale, she immediately fell silent, as if her soul had just returned to her body. ”Seraphina, how did you get involved with the Hale Family? We can’t afford to provoke them!”

”Mom, don’t worry, it’s just a misunderstanding. Justin Hale came because of Philip Hale. I was the one who discovered the issue with Philip Hale’s stone materials, right? That’s why we had some contact and a few misunderstandings. But it’s all been cleared up now. It’s fine! Nothing’s wrong anymore!”

Seraphina Sterling hid part of the truth, trying to make her story as believable as possible. Faced with Kimberly Jennings’s extreme reaction, she was puzzled but didn’t dare to probe further. On one hand, she was afraid of agitating Kimberly again; on the other, she was worried Kimberly would ask more questions about Justin Hale, and she couldn’t guarantee she could keep her story straight.

”That’s good! That’s good! Seraphina, from now on, stay away from the Hales! Stay away from people from wealthy families! Our life now is good enough. It’s stable and peaceful!” Kimberly Jennings was still shaken, her brows knitted tightly, an unshakeable worry clouding her eyes.

”Mom, is our life right now really that good? Is it really stable and peaceful?” Everything was already proceeding according to her plan; a stable and peaceful life was no longer possible. She wouldn’t let her mother back down!

”Do you know why I was taken away by the police today? Because Uncle went to the station and accused me of intentionally framing Philip Hale, claiming I might have tampered with the stone materials he was delivering to him!” Seraphina Sterling didn’t hold back, deciding it was time for some tough medicine.

”How could your third uncle do that? You’re his niece! No, I have to go confront him!” Kimberly Jennings had no idea about this part of the story! Although she had already seen her so-called relatives’ true colors, she had only thought them to be greedy. She never imagined they would stab her in the back, spouting baseless accusations to send their own family to the police!

’Seraphina is still so young! What if this leaves her with a criminal record? Don’t they even consider the severity of the consequences?’

”Mom!” Seraphina Sterling grabbed Kimberly Jennings. ”What’s the use of confronting them now? It’s already happened! You treat them like family, connected by blood, but they’ve only ever treated us like a personal ATM. Now that this ATM is broken and can’t dispense any more cash, we’ve become nothing but a burden to them!”

Seraphina Sterling’s words were sharp and precise, mercilessly exposing the Jennings family’s mercenary nature. They severed Kimberly Jennings’s last thread of affection, her final lingering attachment to the Jennings Family.

”Mom, in their eyes, we’re not as important as RMB!” Seraphina Sterling stared intently into Kimberly Jennings’s eyes, forcing her to face reality. ”Is the ’stable’ and ’peaceful’ life you’re talking about one where even our own relatives would sell us out?”

”No! It’s not like that!” Kimberly Jennings was heartbroken and deeply disappointed. The feeling of being betrayed by one’s own family was too much to bear.

”The Jennings family was truly in the wrong. From now on, we can just ignore your first and third uncles’ families and focus on respecting the elders. No matter what, let’s just keep living the way we are now. And you, stay far away from those wealthy families in the future!”

”Don’t worry, Mom. I won’t initiate contact with them!” Kimberly Jennings’s attitude was too resolute, so Seraphina Sterling ultimately gave up on the idea of telling her about the plan. ’Things will work themselves out.’

’But still, why does Mom have such an aversion to the Hale Family? Terrence Grant is also from a wealthy family, so why didn’t she have any objections when I was studying with him back then? Also, what exactly did Justin Hale say to Mom tonight to make her so terrified, so scared she wanted to flee in the middle of the night? And who are the ’they’ Mom kept mentioning? What secrets are hidden here?’
