Dragon Monarch System

Booooooooooom!!!!!

The sudden explosion coming from the centre of the city caught Harrington off guard. He instantly knew what this explosion was targeting.

”The Mansion.....!!” He murmured.

Renji and another member of the organisation also stop to enjoy the view of the explosion.

”Hahahaha!!! It looks like your home is gone.” Renji laughed out loud.

Hahaa.....cough!!! cough....!!”

While laughing, he even coughed up blood due to the damage that he had received from Malakor Harrington. But his injuries felt more like a reward, seeing the shocked look on Harrington’s face.

’How did this even happen?’ Harrington had left the entire mansion because he truly believed the city was secure. Even if he and Boris personally went out to face the enemy, Vardy and Wahid, who were the second and third strongest cultivators within Axel City, should have been more than enough to protect everyone else and deal with any remaining threats inside the city. (Boris isn’t counted in the list)

Not to mention, the Harrington family possessed one of the strongest and most battle-hardened armies in the entire Empire. Their troops constantly fought against hordes of magic animals. The constant battles sharpened their troops through real combat almost every single day. Because of all this, Harrington simply could not understand how the enemy had managed to blow up the entire freaking mansion right under their noses.

While Harrington was distracted, Renji signalled his partner to attack.

This was their perfect chance to land a critical blow on him and significantly increase their chances of winning the battle.

Harrington felt something extremely dangerous coming at him. He shifted his body to the right and tried to deflect the attack with his great sword, but the attack came too suddenly, and he was caught off guard.

Bang......!!!

The attack left a 2-inch wide hole in his left shoulder.

”Hahahha! Say your farewell now. Your time has come.” Renji laughed and rushed towards Harrington.

”Idiot, don’t just blindly charge at him.” His partner tried to stop him, but it was already too late.

Even in an injured state, this was Malakor Harrington that they were talking about. This lunatic wasn’t going to fall this easily.

Meanwhile, Harrington fell to one knee while tightly holding his shoulder. Blood slowly dripped down from the wound as his breathing became slightly heavier. His massive great sword slipped from his grasp and crashed heavily onto the shattered ground below. The injury to his shoulder was so severe that, for a brief moment, he could no longer exert enough strength in his arm to properly lift the sword and continue fighting.

Seeing Harrington kneeling on the ground, Renji’s excitement instantly surged. The warning his partner had shouted at him moments ago completely flew over his head. At that moment, all Renji could see was an injured Harrington.

In his eyes, Harrington was a wounded monster that could be killed at this moment.

He was also blinded by the fame of being able to kill Makalor. This fame would make his Sect look even more terrifying. He would finally earn the respect that he was lacking as a powerhouse.

”Dieeeeeeeeeee!” Renji came with a ruthlessly close-range attack.

At the very last moment, Harrington suddenly snapped his eyes wide open. For that brief microsecond when their gazes met, seeing the cold, hard look on his face, Renji was terrified, even though he was the one attacking Harrington and Harrington was on his knee. This was the fear that Malakor Harrington had put in his heart.

Just the name Malakor was enough to make cultivators tremble in fear.

In that very microsecond, a small knife appeared in his palm. He tilted his head to the extreme left and narrowly avoided the attack.

But the cost of recklessly attacking Harrington, thinking that he was done, was paid by Renji.

Raju could not avoid the small knife. The knife that was already coated in deadly poison went straight into his right chest.

He barely avoided the knife from being stabbed in the heart.

Bang!!!!!

To save his partner, the mid-seventh-order cultivator of the organisation used a long-range attack to force Harrington into defence. Using this opportunity, a black shadow tentacle rose from his shadow and grabbed Renji by his waist, pulling Renji to him.

”Idiot, I told you not to recklessly charge at Harrington.” Even before the battle had begun, his partner had repeatedly warned Renji never to become arrogant enough to think he had already won until Malakor Harrington was truly dead. As long as Harrington still had even a single breath left in him, he remained an extremely dangerous monster capable of turning the entire battle around in an instant.

Just moments ago, Renji had learned that lesson in the most terrifying way possible. Even now, as he rapidly retreated through the shattered battlefield, he could still clearly remember everything that happened in horrifying slow detail. The moment Harrington opened his eyes, Renji saw the old monster move despite his injured state.

Before this battle, Renji never truly took those warnings seriously. Somewhere deep inside, after reaching the 7th-order, he had unknowingly developed arrogance toward most opponents.

But after experiencing this near-life-and-death moment, he had finally learned his lesson. For the first time since stepping into the 7th-order realm, he had come this close to dying. The terrifying part was that Harrington had nearly killed him while kneeling on one knee and was heavily injured. If he had failed to slightly shift his body at the final moment, then by now his corpse would already be lying on the battlefield with his head separated from his body.

Harrington stood up with a savage grin. He did not care about the hole in his shoulder. Instead, seeing that his enemy was seriously injured, put a smile on his face.

As an experienced fighter, he knew that despite what happened at the centre of the city, he should not lose his calm and abandon this fight. The moment he turned around to run would be the moment that he would expose a fatal weakness and give his opponents a golden opportunity to strike him down.

Right now, he can worry about what happened to his family later. First, he needed to finish this fight as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Renji took out an extremely rare 7-star healing pill and put it in his mouth. This healing pill is so valuable that even his own cultivation sect had only 15 of them.

But he did not care about using one of them. In his mind, everything can be rebuilt as long as he survives.

’Even after all these preparations, this fight is still so difficult.’

Over the years, his cowardly nature and habit of always choosing easier fights with higher rewards had slowly made him rusty. He was never the type of man who could endure long and brutal battles against truly terrifying opponents. Most of the missions he accepted were carefully calculated so that the risks remained low while the rewards stayed high. Because of this, he rarely pushed himself to his limits in actual combat.

But today was completely different.

Even though the battle had only been going on for a few minutes, the pressure Harrington placed on him already felt suffocating. Every clash felt like fighting against a raging natural disaster rather than another cultivator. Renji could clearly feel his mind slowly becoming unstable under that overwhelming pressure.

Putting the pill in his mouth, he took out the knife from his chest. By the miraculous power of the seven-star healing pill, the wound on his chest immediately healed. But he had no idea that this was not some ordinary knife.

Swoosh!!!

With the greatsword, Harrington appeared behind Renji so fast that it looked like he had teleported.

Renji couldn’t even react in time, but the mysterious man did.

A shadow tentacle blocked the strike that was meant to cut Renji’s head.

”Who are you?” Harrington did not stop to ask. Rather, he focused on this mysterious man instead of Renji. In his eyes, Renji was basically dead.

At that time, Renji turned out. He found it odd that his reaction time had suddenly dropped so much. He felt like he was reacting more slowly than usual.

’Is it fatigue?’ He wondered while preparing to attack Harrington, but to his utter shock, Harrington just ignored him, like he wasn’t even a part of this battle and was completely focused on his partner.

This infuriated Renji.

”You might have a heart attack if you knew.”

”Well, then I must see your face.” Both ignored Renji completely. Harrington and the mysterious man fought against each other.

In a few seconds, they exchanged 20 moves. To Renji, it looked like both of them were equals.

’This looks like an equal fight now, but with an injured shoulder, Harrington will make mistakes.’ This thought put his mind at ease. Instead, he took this moment to prepare something that he had brought to deal with Harrington.

But his partner did not share Renji’s thoughts. Instead, he felt like, slowly, he was losing this close combat.

’Close combat isn’t my area of expertise. But with Renji being injured, I have no choice but to hold on until he recovers.’ He mistakenly thought that Renji had not recovered yet.

Each time they exchanged a move, he felt his wrist and the rest of his arms hurt from Harrington’s overwhelming strength.

Suddenly, Harrington twisted his body, which caught him off guard. This entire time, Harrington was fighting with his other hand. And avoided using his injured shoulder hand which gave him the perception that this was his weakness.

When Harrington tried to attack his injured shoulder, Harrington revealed his fangs. This was a bait.

Harrington was waiting for this moment.

When he tried to hit Harrington, he countered with lightning speed. A black dagger coated in poison appeared in his palm. With the greatsword, he blocked the attack and then threw the dagger right at his face.

Although he still tilted his face, he wasn’t able to avoid the dagger in such close range. The dagger left a big scar on his right cheek that ran to his ear while also tearing the hood that hid his face.

”Why?” Harrington only had one word in his mind.
