Reincarnated as a Lizard

Bang!

Ptsh-!

[Gained 363 Exp]

Killing the first few monsters that were daring enough to step forward and try to attack her, Scaly narrowed both of her eyes dangerously while looking towards the group of monsters that had begun hesitating after seeing how easily she killed the first few that had run ahead of them.

Whoosh~!

However, even if some of them wanted to retreat after seeing her display of strength, the majority of the monsters still calmed down after a few seconds before almost all of them began rushing towards Scaly filled with killing intent. Only a few of the weakest among them decided to sneak away during the attack. Not intending to get involved in the battle and needlessly risk their own life for seemingly no reason.

Chiiiing-!

As a result of this, Scaly soon found herself defending the first few attacks with her claws before she was embroiled in chaotic battle with all kinds of different aquatic and desert monsters.

From the desert wolves and scorpions that she had already encountered back in the desert, to monsters she had never encountered before, like a weird fish shaped monster with three pairs of legs and a few tentacles sprouting from its body called a land walking tentacle fish and a few other equally weird fish-based monsters.

At the very least, most of the monsters present weren’t too weird and mostly consisted of some kind of big crab that seemed to be of similar strength as the big forest rabbits and desert wolves of similar strength.

However, among all of the monsters attacking her, the strongest by far was a small snake that seemed to be capable of some kind of magic that it used to attack her from a safe distance. Essentially forcing her to use most of her mana on dealing with the different magic attacks launched by that snake.

Essentially leaving her with no choice but to go on the defensive for a time as she focused her attention on the snake in an attempt to inspect it and see if it had any weaknesses that she could take advantage of.

[Sorcerer Snake, lvl 31]

[Description: A Sorcerer Snake, one of rarest snakes in the world and capable of wielding all kinds of magic without any restrictions at their peak. Generally, not that strong in their earlier stages and weak to any kind of melee attack, but grown up, they have been known to kill A Rank Adventurers. The strongest sorcerer snake ever recorded has managed to surpass the A Rank. Becoming a slithering calamity for any who encountered it. Avoid at all costs if the length of the sorcerer snake exceeds 20 meters, as it means it has reached a level comparable to an A Rank Adventurer.]

Managing to inspect the snake after a good five minutes of jumping around avoiding attacks from both the snake and the surrounding monsters, Scaly was shocked as she painstakingly read through the description while still locked in combat.

Not only was the sorcerer snake in front of her proficient in all kinds of magic, but it also had the potential to surpass the A Rank of adventurers... And although she didn’t know much about the structure of adventurers and how strong this A Rank adventurer was, she was certain that it would be someone strong for the description to mention it.

But... The sorcerer snake attacking me should be far from its potential strength. Meaning that it’s weak to melee attack just like my claws...

Narrowing both her eyes as she thought about this to herself, Scaly didn’t waste any time as she sprung into action and rushed towards the sorcerer snake-

Ptsh-!

[Gained 286 Exo]

Catching the desert wolf that had been just about to attack her off guard, as she cut through its throat along the way.

Sssssss!

Seeing how Scaly was rushing towards it filled with killing intent, it didn’t take a genius for the sorcerer snake to realize that it had been targeted, as it let out a loud hissing sound to inform the rest of the monsters before starting to move in the opposite direction of the approaching Scaly. Knowing very well that it didn’t stand a single chance against her sharp claws if she got close enough.

Roar!

Roooar!

Unfortunately, it seemed like the rest of the monsters were a bit slower on the uptake compared to the sorcerer snake, as they only started moving after Scaly had already managed to cut her way through their encirclement and make a straight line towards the escaping sorcerer snake.

Soon enough forming a rather odd chasing scene, as Scaly chased after the escaping sorcerer snake, while around a dozen other monsters chased after her.

However, the chase didn’t last for long due to the fact that the sorcerer snake was rather slow for its current level and was unable to outrun the well trained Scaly who had gained a lot of experience in regard to running fast during the past few days of being forced to run for her life from much stronger monsters and humans.

Not something she was proud of and would definitely take revenge for in the future, but at least it did end up helping her better utilize her strength better when it came running from someone- or in this case, chase after someone.

Sssss!

Fwoosh~!

In the end, the sorcerer snake turned around just before she reached it and spewed out a large breath of fire towards her-

Roar~!

Whoosh-!

Something Scaly instinctively responded to with a not so intimidating roar of her own and a similar breath attack. The only difference being that her breath attack was made of water magic, while the sorcerer snake’s breath attack was made of fire magic.

Booom!

As the two kinds of magic breaths, one water and one fire collided, a small explosion ensued as both Scaly and the sorcerer snake were thrown back by a few meters as a result.

At the same time, the monsters that had been chasing after Scaly from behind abruptly came to a stop after the explosion as all of them looked towards Scaly and the sorcerer snake filled with fear. All of them understood that this was no longer a battle they could interfere in.

Even if they did interfere, they seemed to finally understand that doing so would mean death was a likely outcome.

R-Roar!

Roar...

Rumble~

And so, before Scaly or the sorcerer snake had even managed to get up again, the monsters that had been following them from behind turned around and ran away without thinking twice. None of them dared to stay behind and participate in the battle after seeing the collision of the two breath attacks.

Rustle~

Being the first to recover from the shock of what had just happened between itself and Scaly, the sorcerer snake tried to get up to finish Scaly off.

Sssssss...?

However, in doing so, it discovered that half its body had been crushed beneath a rock that had been sent flying following the attack just now. Essentially trapping it in place and making it unable to move.

Haaa... That was amazing!

At the same time that the sorcerer snake discovered its dangerous predicament, Scaly jumped up from the ground with an amazed expression on her face over the attack she had unleashed just now when confronting the sorcerer snake.

Ah! The sorcerer snake still isn’t dead!?

Only for her to come back to reality a second later when she spotted the sorcerer snake struggling to free itself from the rock that had fallen down on half its body.

I don’t have any mana left from that attack just now, I have to finish it off before it uses another fire breath attack!

Whoosh!

Analyzing her current situation in an instant and discovering that she essentially only had enough mana left for a few water balls, Scaly used all of her strength to rush towards the trapped sorcerer snake.

S-Sssss!?

Seeing this, the sorcerer snake in question let out a few panicked hissing sounds as it began using everything at its disposal to free itself-

Ptsh-!

[Gained 1278 Exp]

However, it was of no use, as Scaly closed the distance between them before it could free itself. Killing it with a final swipe of her sharp claws.

[*Ding* Reached level 30]

At the same time, following the death of the sorcerer snake, she managed to close the little distance that was left and managed to reach level 30.

[Evolution available, choose evolution now?]: [Y/N]

More importantly than that, she had finally managed to unlock her third evolution after what felt like a long time compared to the time it took for her to reach her second evolution.

For now, the most important thing left for her to do was to find somewhere secluded where she could recover her strength and undergo her third evolution without any risk of being attacked during the evolution process, as she would essentially be helpless to defend herself in the time that she went through the evolution process.
