A Ghost Story Unfolds: The Cannon Fodder Went Mad by Burning Ghost Money

Chapter 159 Angelina’s Tea Party 28Su Zemu waited until the glass shards had mostly finished bursting out before slowly swimming out of the main gate.

She deployed her inflatable boat, put on a life jacket and goggles, and began to calculate while familiarizing herself with the controls.

”I have clothes, food, and drink, but I’m still short on medicine... I remember there being several pharmacies on the way to Dazhai Village. Although the prescription cabinets are locked, I can just collect the whole cabinet and smash the glass when I have time, regardless of whether it’s locked or not.”

”I definitely can’t let those cattle, sheep, chickens, ducks, and geese go. When the weather gets hot, I’ll need a generator to run the air conditioner, so I’ll need gasoline and diesel too. The water isn’t very deep yet, so the shops selling air conditioners and appliances shouldn’t be completely submerged. I have to find those first, otherwise, they’ll be ruined by the water and that would be the end of it.”

”The natural gas will probably be cut off in a few days, but the gas cylinders are enough. I’ve taken plenty of bowls and chopsticks from the supermarket, so I don’t need to worry about cooking. Water, however, is an issue. There’s less bottled water in the supermarket than I planned, and most of it is sugary drinks. Drinking too much of that stuff is guaranteed to cause high blood pressure, high blood sugar, and high cholesterol.”

This wasn’t something Su Zemu could control.

Adding up all the small bottles and large barrels of mineral water in the supermarket, it would only last about thirty years based on her water consumption needs. According to her estimation, she wouldn’t feel at ease without storing enough water to last her a lifetime.

It’s a flood now, and the caps on mineral water bottles aren’t airtight. Even if she found water in a small shop, it would definitely be undrinkable after being soaked.

While thinking, Su Zemu dove down into a pharmacy and collected the medicine along with the shelves into her space.

She couldn’t come up with a good solution, but it wasn’t a big deal. She had also stored many barrels of tap water. She had been drinking boiled tap water for decades before the natural disaster, hadn’t she? It was just slightly worse than mineral water, and in desperate times, she wasn’t that picky.

She didn’t know if it counted as luck, but there were more pharmacies than she had imagined, with one every forty or fifty meters. She had originally only intended to collect enough medicine for her own lifetime, but when the living supplies were placed right in front of her, she didn’t hesitate for even three seconds before decisively diving down again.

If she didn’t take them, they would just rot in the water. If she took them, she could exchange them for points at the base. In the end, the base could use them to save people, and she could get points to exchange for a house. It was a win-win!

There were many residential areas around the mall, and many shops for basic needs. Besides two small supermarkets, there were convenience stores like 7-Eleven. Although some of the open, processed food was no longer edible, there were still some sealed packaged items and primary agricultural products. These things just needed to be washed clean after being soaked in water.

Shops selling home appliances, school supplies, hardware, food and drinks, home textiles... Su Zemu didn’t spare a single one.

By the time she reached the shop selling water buckets, the supplies in her space had doubled again.

At a rough estimate, she couldn’t squander it all in the rest of her life even if she took a bite and spat it out, or buried her excrement with flour. Of course, she wouldn’t actually do that.

The terrain here was higher, and the inflatable boat could barely navigate. Su Zemu cherished her equipment and was afraid that if it got scratched anywhere, the loss would outweigh the gain. Therefore, she put the boat away, put on rain boots and a raincoat, and waded in slowly.

The shop owner selling water buckets had evacuated in a hurry. Those red plastic buckets had only been tied up roughly. Now that the rain was heavy and the water was rushing, the ropes had loosened significantly, and many buckets had broken free, floating scattered around the yard.

Fortunately, there was a wall around the yard, so no matter how scattered the buckets were, they were still within the yard’s perimeter. It wasn’t too difficult to collect them.

In addition to the ten-liter buckets she had purchased, there were larger ones in the shop with capacities of thirteen, eighteen, and twenty liters, which Su Zemu also collected.

By now, she was quite tired. The constant surfacing and diving on the way here had consumed a lot of energy, and she really wanted to sit down and have a good rest.

Unfortunately, time waits for no one.

In just about half an hour, the water had reached her thighs. If she didn’t speed up, the cute pigs, cattle, sheep, chickens, ducks, and geese at the farm wouldn’t be able to wait for her.

Su Zemu sighed, took a piece of chocolate from her space, tossed it into her mouth, forced herself to perk up, and headed toward the farm.

The situation at the farm was even worse than she had imagined.

In the low-lying parts of the city, the water had already risen above the second floor; for instance, at the large shopping mall she had come from, the water had also risen above the first floor in most places.

Although the farm was on higher ground and the water had only risen above the cattle and sheep’s thighs, theoretically, there shouldn’t be too much loss.

But that was only theoretically.

Because cattle are the tallest.

The problem was, there were also pigs.

Pigs are much shorter than cattle, and the water had well and truly gone over their heads. Although they had layers of fat that allowed them to float and temporarily avoid life-threatening danger, the pigs were terrified.

Have you ever heard a pig squeal?

It’s very unpleasant, high-pitched, and loud. Even normal squealing sounds like shrieking, let alone now when they were genuinely terrified, all of them screaming at the top of their lungs.

”Oink!!! Oink!!!”

”Baa——”

”Moo——”

”Cluck, cluck!!!”

Chaos, endless chaos, as if someone had dragged out Su Zemu’s eardrums, pressed them against a night watchman’s gong, and was beating them frantically.

She had never envied deaf people so much.

However, was this noise the worst of it?

Of course not.

Su Zemu took a deep breath, tremblingly took out a protective suit to wrap herself up tightly, then slowed down the inflatable boat and headed slowly toward the farm.

Anyone who has ever been to such a small-scale farm would know that the stocking density inside is so high that it compares to an eight-person college dormitory without bunk beds. Cattle, sheep, and pigs eat and defecate wherever they please, and there’s a thick layer on the ground where you can’t even distinguish whose excrement it is.

It would be one thing if there were people to clean it up regularly, but this is a flood!

This farm probably feared the iron fences weren’t sturdy enough, so they used cement walls. Now that it’s raining, great—it’s like a bowl, and the excrement inside is like oatmeal soaked in a bowl. With the rainwater rushing in, all the excrement has floated up, damn it!

Su Zemu instinctively looked down.

It was such a thick layer, dense and packed, just like minestrone soup with too much water added. The inflatable boat would break through in front, and it would close up behind. Even though she had been extremely careful, she was inevitably splashed with excrement.

Actually, the excrement of cattle, sheep, and pigs is different.

Sheep droppings are clumped, in small pieces like large chocolate beans; cow dung is coarser, with long fibers; pig excrement is more like human excrement, larger in size and thinner in consistency.

When they are kept together, the three different types of excrement pile up layer by layer, like rice porridge with raisins and chives added—the dry parts dry, the thin parts thin, and the long parts long. After cow dung and sheep droppings are soaked and expanded by pig feces, they at least still hold their shape, which makes them relatively easy to clean.

However, now.

It’s no longer a question of whether the excrement is dry or thin; it has been soaked and expanded, just like overcooked oatmeal or rice—porous, airy, thick, and it sticks to you when splashed.

Why does it stick?

Hahaha, of course, it’s because those damn pigs, cattle, and sheep are struggling frantically!

Damn it, when they struggle, it splashes everywhere just like a pot of thick porridge boiling over!

Su Zemu was in tears.

It was only then that she realized she had such determination and perseverance, being able to reach out and collect this excrement into her space while surrounded by a mountain of it, to spread it thickly over the five acres of land she planned to farm.

Organic fertilizer...

Natural...

Can’t waste it...

...

Apart from being surrounded by excrement, the process of collecting supplies went fairly smoothly.
