A Ghost Story Unfolds: The Cannon Fodder Went Mad by Burning Ghost Money

Chapter 151 Angelina’s Tea Party 20Time quickly reached 4:29.

4:30 was the start of the tea party. The other Guests had already headed there early, leaving Lin Xiangjun alone in her Guest room.

She took a deep breath.

The time on her phone changed from 4:29 to 4:30.

At the same moment, a dull bell tolled.

The sound was exceptionally muffled, not at all like metal being struck, but more like the dull thud of a hammer hitting beef when making hand-beaten beef balls.

As the bell rang, every White Bow Tie Servant in the castle stopped abruptly, like robots losing power. A second later, their bodies vanished from the spot as if they had never existed.

The castle’s light suddenly turned a dim yellow. All the candles went out, and every sound vanished. The lush green Garden outside the window disappeared, and the glass became blurry and hazy, making everything outside invisible.

The magnificent castle was suddenly transformed into an eerie, terrifying haunted house.

Lin Xiangjun didn’t see it, but amidst the tolling bell, the entire face of the clock in the living room became distorted and began to flow like a melting snowman.

The numbers and hands on the dial trembled violently, as if two forces were competing—one trying to push time forward, the other trying to pull it back. It was as if two people were gripping the hands, neither willing to let go.

The hands twisted into an impossible curve, looking as though they would snap at any moment.

Just then, the bell stopped tolling.

The pressure from both sides suddenly slackened. Losing the opposing forces, the hands snapped back, their bodies swinging violently.

As the final echo of the bell faded, the hands swung exactly one notch backward.

4:29.

Simultaneously, Lin Xiangjun pushed open the Guest room door and sprinted toward the Study with a clear objective!

The Guest room she was in was less than twenty meters from the Study.

The wall blocking her path had been crushed down. An RV was parked there now; the moment Lin Xiangjun touched the vehicle, it was retracted into a Tribute Card, revealing a wide path.

She had even saved herself the trouble of opening the door.

The RV had crushed half of the Study, but fortunately, the bookshelf with eyes was not among the casualties.

Upon entering, her gaze locked precisely onto the bookshelf containing the real tea leaves.

The ”eye” formed by the wood grain actually blinked like a real eye, shedding a stream of dark red bloody tears.

”Sa—”

BANG!!!

Lin Xiangjun didn’t hesitate for even a second. she snatched up a sharp knife and hacked at it, striking the eye dead center.

Half of the eye’s bloody tears had already flowed out, while the rest remained in the socket. Her strike caused them to burst out like popping boba, drenching her from head to toe.

Lin Xiangjun was beyond complaining about how many times she had been made filthy in this instance, which hadn’t even lasted five hours.

The blade sank into the cabinet door. She applied pressure, prying the entire door open to reveal the tea canister hidden behind it.

Though the tea canister was clearly ceramic, it felt warm to the touch, like some kind of living creature.

Lin Xiangjun felt a sharp pain in her head, and a hazy, blurred whispering echoed in her ears.

Damn it, there’s contamination on the tea canister!

Fortunately, Lin Xiangjun had been using contamination clearing potions non-stop from the beginning of this instance. Although the instance’s traps were unavoidable, the damage she sustained wasn’t that severe.

It didn’t even count as mild contamination.

Though the current level of contamination wasn’t deep, there was no telling what would happen if she kept holding the canister.

She tossed the canister into her pouch. Just as she was about to climb out through the ruins, she suddenly heard a slimy, blurred sound of footsteps nearby, just outside the Study door.

She wasn’t unprepared for this situation.

She quickly lit up her phone and tapped the screen a few times.

RUMBLE—

The house shook violently, as if a sudden earthquake had struck!

A shower of dust and wooden debris vibrated down from the ceiling.

In the tea room downstairs, Angelina, who was smiling as she poured tea for the noble ladies, lost her grip on the teapot as it shook, causing it to crash onto the table. Her chair bucked, sending her hovering in the air for a second.

Dust fell from the ceiling, coating the exquisite tea snacks in a layer of gray.

Several noble ladies nearby screamed, preparing to flee in a panic:

”Angelina, run! It feels like an earthquake!”

An earthquake? What kind of earthquake was this? That noise clearly came from the Study upstairs!

Since when do earthquakes start on the second floor?!

Angelina knew perfectly well that this wasn’t an earthquake; it was the commotion caused by that troublesome Guest. She was crossing the line more and more—it was as if she wanted to tear the entire castle down!

She cursed Lin Xiangjun up and down in her mind, but she had to maintain a smile on her face to soothe the other ladies: ”No, it’s fine. This isn’t an earthquake. This... this must be the commotion caused by the Alchemist living upstairs! He’s been researching a technique to turn stone into gold lately, so things might have gotten a bit loud. Please, don’t be alarmed!”

”Butler, replace the tea snacks for the ladies and brew some fresh tea. Also, go upstairs to find that Alchemist and tell her clearly to be. Qui. Et. Don’t frighten my Guests again.”

As she comforted the skeptical ladies, she also had to instruct the butler to check upstairs. She was overwhelmed with tasks, and as she spoke, she ground her teeth, wishing she could drag Lin Xiangjun over and bite her to death.

Upstairs.

Lin Xiangjun had no idea she was being targeted. She poked her head out and looked at the hallway before her.

Mhm, excellent. Those Black Bow Tie Servants were all blown to bits; few had intact bodies. Forget catching her—it would be a struggle for them to even move from their spots without help.

Safe.

She sprinted past, ignoring the mangled Black Bow Tie Servants lying on the ground, surviving in a grotesque state of being fused together.

The soles of her sneakers stepped over bodies charred and crumbly from the explosion. It felt strange, like stepping on completely dried leaves in autumn—crispy and somewhat stress-relieving.

...

She wasn’t actually a pervert, was she? Why did she find stepping on their corpses so stress-relieving?

The thought lasted only a split second before she pushed it to the back of her mind.

These things only looked human; in essence, they were just the remains of hosts after being parasitized, or full-grown parasites.

What human rights do parasites have? Are they even human to be talking to her about rights??

Besides, it was the end of the world now. Who cared if she had morals? Being able to walk out of the instance alive was what mattered.

After less than a second of self-reproach, Lin Xiangjun had already talked herself out of it.

She sprinted toward the bedroom, pulling out her sharp knife to finish off the Black Bow Tie Servants in the hallway who hadn’t been caught in the blast.
