After I Fully Prepared for the Apocalypse, the Ungrateful Cried with Regret

”I’d have to use it sooner or later,” Nina Jacobs replied.

The Wind Element Superpower could be fused with various other superpowers, including her most frequently used Earth Element Diamond Sand. Now equipped with the Wind Element Superpower, she could already control the movement of the Diamond Sand Cover.

Besides, Adrian Paige had already seen through it. Four-element Superpower Users had already appeared in the world. Even though Three-Element Superpower Users were rare, they were no longer anything extraordinary.

After chatting with everyone for a while longer, Vera Coleman and Daniel Hale brought dinner for the group.

”Rest well for the next two days.” Nina didn’t stay at Building 73 for too long.

When she returned home, the twins had already fallen asleep. Daniel Hale drew all the curtains in the house and convened a family meeting. Naturally, this meeting was about Nina.

”Nina is so capable now; our family and even the entire base are benefiting from it,” Daniel said. ”Nina, Uncle just wants to know if there’s anything we can do for you. We don’t want to hold you back.”

Daniel always felt that Nina seemed to be pushing herself relentlessly for some reason. She hadn’t stated the reason, but it was highly likely because she was afraid her family would worry. He even suspected that she might have gone through something terrible. However, everyone had their secrets, and it wasn’t right to pry. Nina’s personality was like that as well, but they wanted to do whatever was within their power to help.

”There’s no need. Just taking good care of yourselves is the greatest help you can give me,” Nina replied with a smile.

”I knew you would say that. Uncle Hale is just worried that once your identity as a Three-Element Superpower User is exposed, many people will want to recruit you. If you want to develop your potential in a higher and better place, you don’t need to worry about us,” Vera said, her eyes shimmering with faint tears.

So that was it. Nina shook her head and said, ”In my eyes, there is no better place. This is home.”

Although the management of the City D Base had become chaotic in the later stages of her past life, the other bases in Drakonia hadn’t fared much better. The Arisdale Base had been repeatedly besieged by zombie hordes, and eventually, even Drakonia’s official research institute had relocated to the City D Base...

”Well said! Don’t worry, I’m here to look after things at home,” Leo Hale said, letting out a sigh of relief.

Nina’s meaning was clear: they only needed to stay here with peace of mind.

”Got it. Leo is right. Do whatever you want to do with confidence. However, I suggest we continue to keep this recent advancement a secret. Hide it for as long as possible,” Daniel said.

This was exactly what Nina had in mind. During this trip to the Falken Base, she had deliberately suppressed her strength. Although she didn’t possess the ”all energies” that Leo mentioned after advancing, she clearly noticed a significant increase in intensity when using her superpower.

In her sea of consciousness, the pond that had originally been several dozen square meters in size had shed its boundaries, transforming into a vast, deep lake. She could clearly sense that both the Superpower Energy she could mobilize and her recovery speed had achieved a qualitative leap...

After returning to her room, Nina had originally planned to go to Crestfall to test her superpower. But Aurelius Marshall’s letter was also weighing heavily on her mind, so she took out that copy of the Drakonia Ancient Martial Family Biography from her storage grid.

When looking up the Ainsworth Family of Cyndar, she remembered hearing a conversation between Anselm Hughes and Master White, Lincoln White, when she was in Whitaker Town in Keldorn. At that time, Anselm had proposed using the Ainsworth Family’s Tracking Technique to find the batch of missing supplies in the Lornwood Base, but Lincoln had rejected the idea. It seemed highly likely that the Ainsworth Family Anselm spoke of was the exact same clan as Chloe Ainsworth’s.

”The Ainsworth Family... is it the Tracking Technique?” Nina murmured, frowning.

The book’s description of the Ainsworth Family was limited to a few brief sentences. It seemed that due to the restrictions of the Tracking Technique, the Ainsworth Family had been a reclusive clan since ancient times. Could this Tracking Technique really find her? If that were the case, she would have to tell everyone to be on high alert.

First thing the next morning, Nina went to find Ethan Young. Since Ethan had the Cloud Concealing Silk, perhaps he was also from an Ancient Martial Clan. However, Ethan’s answer left her somewhat disappointed. He was not from an Ancient Martial Clan; the Cloud Concealing Silk was merely an heirloom passed down from his ancestors.

”Nina, so you’re here! I was just looking for you.” Sherry Renner rushed in from outside.

”Yeah, do you need something?” Nina asked, curious about what Sherry wanted upon seeing her excited face.

”There’s something interesting going on. Do you want to come and see it with me?” Sherry pulled Nina along and headed outside. As they walked, she said, ”You know who—that guy surnamed Grant. He’s gotten himself into trouble over the past couple of days and applied for base protection. You weren’t in the base recently, so you probably didn’t know, right?”

”What happened to him?” Liam Grant? Base protection? Nina really hadn’t heard about this. She had left for the Falken Base as soon as she woke up yesterday, and Sherry hadn’t come back last night.

”Hehe, I knew you wouldn’t know. I have firsthand information here. Liam noticed he was being followed a while ago...”

Sherry had also only found out about this over the past couple of days. It turned out that after Liam realized he was being followed but couldn’t figure out the stalkers’ origins, he applied to the base for protection. The base took this matter very seriously upon finding out, considering Liam’s somewhat special status. Consequently, it only took them a single day to catch the individuals secretly tailing Liam. Now, it was up to their Enforcement Bureau to interrogate them. Upon learning that Nina had returned, Sherry had rushed back first thing in the morning.

”I figured you’d be interested in this. You can come with me to watch the interrogation live. His character is so garbage; who knows, maybe he messed around with some big shot’s woman...” Although Sherry still didn’t know who the people following Liam were, she felt that Nina would definitely enjoy seeing him down on his luck.

”Yeah, I’m definitely interested,” Nina said.

For Liam to apply for base protection, it seemed he really couldn’t handle the situation himself. She was genuinely curious to see who exactly these stalkers were and why they had been caught so easily.

Sherry didn’t take her directly to the interrogation room. That was because Liam himself, Adrian Shaw, and several others were present at the scene. However, Nina was able to watch the entire process in real-time through the interrogation room’s video feed.

Not long after Nina arrived, the interrogation began. Also present in the interrogation room with Liam was his sister, Hannah Grant. Sitting across from them, the person being interrogated was a man in his twenties.

Hannah glared at him in displeasure and demanded, ”So it was you guys following my brother. Spill it, what exactly are you trying to do?”

”Hannah, you don’t need to speak. There is a chief interrogator here,” Liam said, shooting her a warning glare.

”I know, I was just anxious. Caspian, sorry to trouble you with this.” Hannah took the opportunity to sit down next to Adrian.

Adrian nodded and finally began questioning the suspect, ”You guys aren’t from our City D Base, are you? When did you arrive at the base?”

The man opposite them answered honestly enough, ”We’re from the Riventon Base. We just came here to look for our missing Base Commander, Justin Stone.”

Looking for Justin Stone? Not only the people at the scene, but Nina was also surprised by this answer.

”What does finding Justin Stone have to do with Mr. Grant?” Adrian asked again.

They had previously heard the news of Justin Stone’s disappearance and the Kyston Base Commander changing hands. But why would people from the Riventon Base come to the City D Base to look for Justin Stone?

”Now this is getting interesting,” Nina said.
