Reincarnated With A Glitched System: Why Is My MP Not Running Out?

I watched the system messages again.

[Due to your lack of Souls, you have summoned the Lesser Demonic Beast: [One-Eyed Imp]!]

[Lesser Demonic Beasts can be summoned as long as you have demonic energy and require close to zero Souls.]

[Your Contracted [One-Eyed Imp] Lesser Demonic Beast has reached the threshold for reproduction and has divided an offspring out of its body.]

[Your Contracted Lesser Demonic Beast has birthed the Lesser Demonic Beast: [Small One- Eyed Imp]!]

[Reproduction threshold has reached its limits for the moment, your Contracted [One-Eyed Imp] cannot divide for the moment.]

“What the hell, so it really just made me a second Lesser Demonic Beast!” I said with disbelief. “Hmm… So what do I do with these little rascals for now?”

“I would recommend you putting them in that dimensional realm or whatever for now,” said Yggdra. “They’re still beings from hell, you saw how aggressive they were, they also didn’t completely obey you. So until you can absorb more Souls…”

“I don’t know if I would ever want to absorb Souls, I mean, the System already drains a part of the soul of anything I defeat for EXP but this is…” I groaned. “A tad bit too much, aiming to completely extinguish a soul is not something I want to make my goal after all. I’ve accepted the System’s way so far because I knew it isn’t greedy enough to absorb entire souls…”

“Hm, then just do the same as the System and steal a soul fragment?” wondered Ignatius. “What’s there to be afraid of?”

“It’s not that I’m afraid, but if the System lets me earn EXP, then their soul would have most definitely already gotten a bite or two, so taking another would make it collapse and die, right?” I asked Alice.

“Indeed, although the System’s primary fuel, EXP, is derived from Souls, our creators are Gods of Souls, Transmigration, and Reincarnation,” she explained. “They create us while putting into consideration not to harm souls. In fact, the souls slain by our power usually go to the Reincarnation Cycle much quicker, making their work better and accelerating the Reincarnation Cycle’s assimilation.”

“W-Wait a second, so that’s the goal of systems?” I wondered.

“One of them,” said Alice. “However… As of now, I am not connected to any Reincarnation Cycle, so this function is defunct with me. The souls slain with the System simply remain in this world and wander elsewhere. Wherever they go? I have no idea.”

“O-Oh…” I nodded. “Oh well, then, for now, no soul absorbing ok? Unless it’s someone I really hate. But monster souls and all, they’re still innocent souls, right? Destroying them would be too much, taking a piece of it for EXP should be enough- Wait a second.”

Then, I got an idea.

If EXP is made out of Souls, can’t I use it to empower my Demonic Authority Aura? “Alice, I’m fairly sure you know what I’m thinking about, right?”

I looked at her, as Alice seemed slightly nervous.

“Yeah, you want to know if you can use EXP to empower the Aura? Sure, let me check…”

She quickly began to check, as I felt an aura of strange, pure essence coming from my soul.

All the accumulated EXP I had so far wasn’t just invisible, it remained there between my soul and the system’s internal interface.

It was like an ever-growing sphere of pure power.

I closed my eyes as Alice tried to channel it, and then I felt rivers of this energy flowing into my demonic aura.

I had repressed it, so it wouldn’t be too strong.

FLUOSH!

As the EXP was about to be injected, suddenly…

RUMBLE!

A spark of painful electricity hit my hands, and it hurt a lot, then the entire flow was cut off.

“No, can’t do… Once EXP is created, it’s already not a soul,” said Alice. “That Aura needs complete souls… But it’s not totally impossible.”

“Really?” I wondered.

“Yes, you have to just find a way to create artificial souls out of EXP, like a reverse engineer!” she said. “Hmm, don’t you have any Skill like that already?”

“Huh…” I looked at my skills so far.

And the ones that created life brought my attention, the Harvest Familiar Summoning, and then the Chaotic Miasma Alloy Creation.

I had also thought about the Monsters I could help multiply in my Dungeon, but ultimately they’re still living beings I wouldn’t really want their souls to die eternally, becoming fuel for my aura.

I tried with Harvest Familiar Summon first, these plant monsters all have a certain level of intelligence, and they can become very intelligent to the point of turning into people if left alone for a long time.

I had thought about it, trying to extract the soul of a radish, it had one, so these creatures’ created souls of their own as they were summoned.

But… yeah, I just couldn’t do it, they were living beings, and they cried when they saw me pulling their souls out.

“Gryeeehhh!”

The Radish I held in my hands couldn’t help but scream a bit, it made me feel bad.

“Ugh, ok, fine, sorry…”

I decided to not do it.

The second and last resort was turning metals into monstrosities.

And see if I could directly make something similar to their twisted, miasmic souls instead of creating life directly.

However, it didn’t help either, the metal I choose turned into a little monstrosity, and I discovered they had no souls but some dense ethereal aura that didn’t work for a soul.

“Dammit, nothing works it seems.”

“Hmm, the best you can do is try to comprehend how the Harvest Familiar Summon Skill works and how it creates Souls,” explained Alice. “Then, try to employ that power directly into a Spell, maybe we could turn it into a skill somehow… Um, Quest System, can you help?”

The Quest System, however, remained in silence.

“I guess that won’t work either, okay, whatever,” I nodded. “I’ll try to find my own way. You can’t really find any way through the other systems? Don’t the Dungeon System make or administrate souls?”

“Yes but I am not in charge of it… We’ll have to see if we can learn a thing from the Dungeon System,” she said. “For now though, you have to decide what to do with these little guys.”

“Hm…”

I glared at the two imps.

“I should give them names!”

That’s all I was thinking, honestly.

Oh right…

“And maybe System Seeds?”

“Sylphy?!”
