My Youth Began With Him

“Sis-in-Law, I’m going to come back to celebrate Chinese New Year with Uncle Qin in a few days…”

“Really? That’s great. What about your dad?” Huo Mian asked.

“Dad is going to the South Pole with a few of his friends. Isn’t it crazy that they’re doing such extreme sports when they’re already so old? I tried to stop him but he wouldn’t listen… So I’m out of options.”

“When are you guys going to arrive?”

“My flight is in three days…”

“That’s so fast, sounds great! If Pudding and Little Bean knew that you and their grandparents were coming back, they would for sure be delighted,” Huo Mian said happily.

“I’m rather perplexed, Sis-in-Law. I’m scared that when I go back for Chinese New Year, I’ll bump into Tang Chuan. I’m afraid that when we see each other, our relationship would get more complicated but I also want to see how he is… I’m so conflicted right now…” Qin Ning never dated anyone so she didn’t know what to do. She was very confused about her emotions.

When Huo Mian heard Qin Ning’s confession, she smiled and said, “Ning-Ning, how about when you come back, we chat in person?”

Huo Mian sounded like she knew everything about a woman’s internal emotional struggles.

Yet Qin Ning was sold. To Qin Ning, Huo Mian was basically a wisdom-goddess-like existence.

“Great. Then, that’s decided. Mian, when I come back, let’s have a good long chat. It’s been really bad for me recently.”

“Okay. I’m at the supermarket right now. Tell me what you want to eat and I’ll buy it.”

Huo Mian loved it when her household was lively.

Including her in-laws, Qin Ning, Zhixin, and her mom, there were nine people in the family.

Huo Mian passed by the GK Corporation’s headquarters on her way home from the hospital and she felt like stopping by.

She headed towards Qin Chu’s office.

“President Huo…” Yang immediately greeted Huo Mian at the door.

“Is my husband here?”

“Yes, President Qin is here but…”

“But what?” When Huo Mian saw how Yang hesitated in his words, Huo Mian joked and said, “Is there a mistress in there?”

“Um… no… President Huo, President Qin isn’t that type of man. Please don’t destroy his reputation…” Yang was dumbfounded.

“Then who is it? Why are you making this sound so mysterious…” Huo Mian thought that not many people could go into Qin Chu’s office so she was rather curious who was inside.

Before Yang could answer, Huo Mian pushed open the door and went inside.

Qin Chu was sitting on the sofa and there was someone next to him.

“Uh…” When Huo Mian saw that person, she was astonished.

“Honey, why are you here?” When Qin Chu saw Huo Mian, he immediately smiled.

“I was at the supermarket buying stuff for Chinese New Year. I passed by so I thought I’d come up and say hi.”

“Hey, Huo Mian,” the man calmly greeted. There was a guy in a black leather jacket. His eyes were deep.

“Rick, what brings you here all of a sudden?”

Huo Mian had asked Rick if he had any plans to come back to China during their last visit to New Orleans and Rick said he didn’t plan on coming back to China any time soon. That was why Huo Mian was shocked when she saw Rick chatting with Qin Chu in Qin Chu’s office.

“Yeah, I have some business here…” Rick was still very uncommunicative as if uttering any more words would cause him to lose something.

“Does it have anything to do with Xixi?” Huo Mian couldn’t help but ask.

It was because Huo Mian believed that Rick and Xixi deeply loved each other, and she always felt that there might still be a chance for them to be together.
