My Youth Began With Him

”Gao Ran… can you call everyone over for me? I need to talk to you guys about something.”

”What’s wrong?”

”I’ll see you all at Seductive Fox in half an hour.” Then, Rick hung up the phone.

”Are you going to tell them what happened?” Xixi felt like the truth was too cruel for everyone to bear.

”Mhm…” Rick nodded as he stood up, trying hard to hold up his body.

After all, he was the young master of a mafia group; although he was sad, he still needed to buck up and tell everyone what happened. Or else, they would all worry to death for not being able to contact Qin Chu.

- Half an hour later -

Wei Liao, Jiang Xiaowei, Gao Ran, Zhu Lingling, Chen Jie, Ni Yang, Zhixin… all of Huo Mian’s friends and family appeared at Seductive Fox.

Rick pushed open the doors of the private room; he was wearing a black cashmere jacket and his face looked extremely pale.

Jiang Xiaowei’s instincts told her that something bad happened.

”Rick… did you gather us here to announce something to us?” Gao Ran asked, and Rick nodded slightly…

Then, he glanced around the room and said, ”I just got the news that Huo Mian was bailed out.”

”Ha, I heard about this already. Don’t forget that I work at the Municipal Bureau. I may be just the captain of a small criminal squad, but I still have my channels of information. I heard that the military interfered last night, and Huo Mian was transferred to Jing City by Professor Luo. I had a feeling that Grandpa Su probably had something to do with it. By the way, we should thank Su Yu… wait, where is he?”

Only then did Gao Ran notice that Su Yu wasn’t here.

”Grandpa Su locked him up… I think he’s being punished,” Wei Liao responded.

”We really need to thank Su Yu this time, thank goodness he was here. I’m going to treat him to a giant meal when he’s released, he’s so nice to have helped Mian…” Zhu Lingling chimed in happily; it seemed like they were all reveling in the relief of Huo Mian’s release.

”Huo Mian will be back in a week at most. By then… if she needs to get medical parole, she would have to go abroad, right? Rick already sent Qin Chu to the States, once Mian comes back, we won’t have much time with her before she goes looking for Qin Chu. In the future, we won’t be able to see the two of them whenever we want to.” Gao Ran smiled as he looked at the gang and then back at Rick.

”Rick, did Qin Chu arrive in the States? We haven’t been able to reach him,” worried, Jiang Xiaowei asked.

With a grim expression on his face, Rick scanned everyone’s faces before saying quietly, ”Qin Chu’s… dead.”

”What?”

”You’re joking, right?”

”Rick… don’t try to freak us out, this isn’t funny.”

Everyone looked at Rick with the same reactions of disbelief.

”I’m not joking, I never joke. I dropped Qin Chu on international waters last night and saw him get onto the chartered plane my brother prepared. He was supposed to safely arrive in Los Angeles today, but yesterday around midnight, the plane exploded over the Pacific Ocean. I don’t know what happened, perhaps someone attacked it from outside, or maybe a bomb was installed in the plane. Anyways, the plane exploded and crashed… everyone on the plane, the four bodyguards, the captain, two flight attendants all died. Qin Chu, on the other hand, went missing, but under such circumstances, he’s probably dead. That’s why I asked you all to come here today to tell you guys that… Qin Chu’s… dead.”

Upon hearing what Rick said, everyone fell silent.

After a while, Zhixin was the first one to react. He sprung up from his seat and pointed at Rick. ”You’re bullsh*tting, there’s no way my brother-in-law is dead.”
