My Youth Began With Him

“Because I always thought that you were pretentious and cold-blooded, playing cat and mouse with Yu. I always thought that you intentionally played with his feelings and treated him like an idiot. You know, there are those types of women in the world where if you liked her, she will make you commit to her and won’t allow you to love other people, even if she isn’t into you. She will even make full use of your love to make you do a ton of crap for her. In the beginning, I thought that you were someone like that.”

“What about now?” asked Huo Mian.

“They all say that as distance tests a horse’s true strength, time reveals a person’s true heart. This is what our ancestors passed onto us and it’s so true. After a long time, I finally saw everything. I also know why Yu’s so in love with you. You treat people and situations with such greatness and fairness, especially when Yu was falsely accused of murder. I thought you wouldn’t step up, but to my surprise, you helped explain the situation. You didn’t care about your reputation and bore so much suspicion and blame. At that moment, I thought that even though you are a woman, you do things like a true bro.”

Huo Mian laughed, “All women want to be the apple of a man’s eyes. But I’ve become the man in other men’s eyes.”

Tang Chuan nodded. “You are so tough. You are incredibly tough. You treat your friends and lover so well. You never back off, and you are always the first one to step up. As a man, I have to say that whoever ends up with you is indeed one lucky fella…”

“Keep going. Young Master Tang, are you trying to put me on a pedestal?” Huo Mian looked at Tang Chuan happily while holding the soup bowl in her hands.

“That’s not it at all. You still don’t know me? If I like someone, then they are a really good person. If I don’t like someone, even if you give me eight million dollars, I won’t give them a single compliment. I really think you have come a long way and it’s not been easy. It’s Qin Chu’s honor to have you as his wife. The truth is, even I’m feeling jealous in place of Yu, really.”

“I’m not as good as you say. I just did what I should have. That’s all.”

“Okay, don’t play humble. By the way, don’t worry about the money. Although right now I’m not the leader of my family, this amount is not that much to us. When you have more money, we can talk about you paying us back. So don’t feel pressured.”

“Thanks, Young Master Tang.”

Huo Mian thanked Tang Chuan from the bottom of her heart. It made sense for Su Yu to treat her well. After all, everyone knew Su Yu’s feelings for her.

But Tang Chuan and Huo Mian were just normal friends, and they never had a connection of money.

So making him take out so much money without an official IOU was really indeed a generous act.

“Don’t thank me, thank Su Yu. I’m only here because of him. He loves you so much that it’s touched those of us who’ve watched him all this time. If he wants to do something for you, we as brothers will definitely support him.”

“I still need to thank you. If there’s anything I can help with in the future, tell me. I’ll help you, even if I have to dig through hell.”

“Hey, no need to sound so scary. Ha, just introduce more hot girls to me, that’s enough.”

Huo Mian was speechless.

“What about digging through hell? What are you two murmuring about behind us?” No one noticed that Su Yu had walked in.

“Nothing, ha, just some private talk between me and Huo Mian,” laughed Tang Chuan with mischief.

“Is this really a place you should stay? After you eat, get your ass out of here,” scolded Su Yu with a laugh.

“It’s not your home too.” Tang Chuan rolled his eyes at him.

“What? What did you just say?”

“Haha, nothing. You guys chat,” Tang Chuan ran out with a mischievous grin on his face.

Su Yu turned around and looked at Huo Mian, feeling a bit shy.

“Ugh,” Su Yu started carefully.

“It’s fine. Just say what you want.” Huo Mian smiled.
