My Youth Began With Him

“In your dreams… I’m not giving the cigarette back to you… If I find out that you’re smoking again, I’m going to…”

“What are you going to do?” Huo Mian laughed and asked Su Yu before he could finish his thought.

“Forget it. You’re so omnipotent, no one can do anything to you, just get going…” Then, Su Yu turned around and went back into his room, while Huo Mian followed the waiter into Rick’s office.

– VIP Room –

Su Yu carefully removed the cigarette from his ear and touched it carefully, unwilling to let go.

He remembered all of her words and movements just now; whenever he thought of her, his expression would immediately soften.

– The top floor of Seductive Fox –

Huo Mian was surprised that Rick asked to see her, since he always contacted Qin Chu directly. Therefore, on the way to his office, she wondered if something happened to her husband.

After going in, she saw Rick sitting on the couch and holding his phone, seemingly up to something. Upon seeing Huo Mian, he stood up. “You’re here.”

“Mhm.”

“Have a seat first.”

Huo Mian sat down and Rick’s assistant immediately poured Huo Mian a cup of hot coffee.

“Did you speak with Qin Chu?”

“Yeah, we call each other every day.” Huo Mian nodded.

“Did he tell you how dire the situation in T City is?”

“He didn’t, but it was an easy guess, or else he wouldn’t still be there,” Huo Mian replied calmly.

“The truth is, Qin Chu and I have been investigating someone…” Rick slowly said.

“Huo Siqian?”

“Smart…” Rick nodded.

“Did you find anything?”

“I think he’s controlling Jiang Linyue, but I don’t know how they contact each other, they’ve been really discreet… The people I sent to tail Huo Siqian haven’t gotten any useful information either.”

“Will the problem be resolved if you find Jiang Linyue?”

“You can say that, we also need her to change her testimony to clear Qin Chu’s name. We also need to know if the contractors in her stamped documents really participated in the forced demolition. That way, we’ll find out if GK really participated, or if someone else did something so heartless and blamed GK for it. Qin Chu really cares about this accident… after all, five people died.”

“Yeah, death is a big deal. I know he’s been trying to deal with this incident.”

“There are two things I wanted to talk to you about today.”

“Go ahead.” Huo Mian felt soberer as she looked at Rick, listening to him intently.

“One… you need to be cautious towards Huo Siqian.”

“I’ve always been cautious.”

“It’s not enough… you probably have no idea how dangerous he really is… Overall, you really need to keep as much distance away from him as possible.”

“I will.” Huo Mian nodded; she knew Rick wouldn’t say something like that for no reason. “What’s the second thing?” she asked.

After a few seconds of silence…

Rick slowly asked, “I wanted to know… what’s a good gift to give a girl on Valentine’s Day?”

“Is it a present for your girlfriend Xixi?” Huo Mian laughed; she was shocked by how out-of-context Rick’s question was.

Feeling shy, Rick nodded.

“Fresh flowers, of course. If she’s your first love, then give her pink roses. If you are in your honeymoon phase, then red roses. If she’s the love of your life, then blue roses. A rich man like you should at least buy 999 roses, right?”

“What else should I give her that’ll make her happy?”
