My Youth Began With Him

”Qin Chu is in a dangerous condition right now. The bullet hasn’t been removed yet and the doctor said that the surgery has to be done within 48 hours. However... the chances of success is very low since the location of the bullet makes this a high-risk surgery.”

”Oh my God.” Zhu Lingling covered her mouth and stared at Gao Ran in shock.

”Does... Does Mian know about this?”

”Not yet, I couldn’t tell her. You haven’t seen how she was when she woke up earlier, she acted like a madman. I’m afraid that she won’t be able to withstand this if she learned about Qin Chu’s condition right now.”

”How could this be... Why has it been so unfair for the two of them, they went through so much these years. Why did this have to happen to them...?”

Zhu Lingling cried in agony...

”There’s no use in crying right now,” Gao Ran said to Zhu Lingling as he handed her a napkin. ”We can only wait for the results.”

To be honest Gao Ran felt upset too but being upset won’t help with anything.

Nothing can be changed right now...

Huo Siqian left the hospital and when he returned to his private mansion, he saw Mo Xue’er just walking out of the bathroom.

Because she had the mansion keys, she could come and go freely.

”Siqian, you’re back,” Mo Xue’er said smiling.

”En.” Huo Siqian nodded as he sat down on the sofa, and he seemed tired out.

”What’s wrong? You seem unhappy...”

Mo Xue’er walked behind the sofa and bent down as she wrapped her arms around his neck.

She tilted her head as she was about to kiss him on the cheeks, but he moved away and avoided her.

”What’s wrong? Did something happen?” Mo Xue’er asked out of instinct.

”Nothing, I’m just feeling tired... Xue’er you go back first.”

”But I’m not always free... I have to go away tomorrow for another filming and I don’t know how long it’ll be until I get to see you again,” Mo Xue’er said reluctantly...

But Huo Siqian wasn’t in the mood for anything...

His girl was still in the ICU...

He had heard from his police friends that the kidnappers had beaten Huo Mian and even hanged her up to torture her.

He hated them even more as he thought about it...

”Xue’er, you go sleep first, I have something to do.” Without saying another word, Huo Siqian grabbed his coat and left.

”Eh? Siqian...” Mo Xue’er felt lonely as she didn’t know what had happened.

After Huo Siqian left the mansion, he got into his car and lit up a cigarette...

”I’ve already transferred the money, so do what you were told,” he said over the phone and hung up.

He then tossed his phone onto the passenger seat and drove away in a fast speed...

The white Maserati sped across the streets at night, but Huo Siqian still found it hard to remain calm.

The next day, Gao Ran received two pieces of news from the Police Station that slightly puzzled him.

The first pieces of news: the criminals they caught yesterday had conflicts with some other criminals in the detention jail, and they were beaten up quite badly.

Three of them had fractured bones, while the other four were seriously injured and were rushed to the hospital afterward. This was the first time a large scale violent outbreak happened at a detention jail.

The second news: Zhou Guanghui, the only woman in the kidnapping group was beaten and tortured by the rest of her jail mates; she was beaten so badly that six of her teeth were knocked out and her entire face was covered in blood. It was a very serious matter if violent incidents happened in jail.

Those offenders knew that they would have increased penalty and jail time, but they still beat Zhou Guanghui like crazy.

It was too much of a coincidence, which made Gao Ran wonder...

Had someone gotten their hands on this? Could it be Su Yu?

For someone who was able to reach their hands into the detention jails, they’re definitely not an average person and could not be underestimated.

Due to the urgent state of this matter, Gao Ran returned back to the City Police Bureau and attended several meetings concerning the solutions for the incidents.

While Zhu Lingling took days off her work and stayed with Huo Mian to take care of her 24/7.

She was afraid of making Huo Mian’s mother worry, and so she hadn’t informed her about this yet...

Huo Mian didn’t have any other family members here, and her and Jiang Xiaowei were Huo Mian’s only friends. Yet, Jiang Xiaowei was pregnant and wouldn’t be able to take care of Huo Mian right now.

Huo Mian’s mother even called-in this morning, and she was worried because she hasn’t heard from Huo Mian for two days now.

Good thing that Zhu Lingling was quick-witted and lied that the two of them had forgotten to turn on their cellphones while they were traveling outside the city.

- 10 AM -

Huo Mian recovered her strength and woke up again...

”Girl, are you awake? Do you feel hungry?” Zhu Lingling asked as she wiped Huo Mian’s face with a warm towel.

”Where’s Qin Chu?” The first thing Huo Mian asked about was still Qin Chu.
