Naruto: The Medical Ninja

Chapter 189: Chapter 188: Impossible

Saya was very happy with her CAT score. She could not wait to brag to other geniuses of her clan that she has wind affinity as a secondary affinity, which is somewhat rare in the Land of Fire, and that it complements her fire affinity.

She was always looked down upon because of her lack of talent and also because her mother never awakened her Sharingan when she was alive and also because her father was a civilian from outside of the Uchiha clan.

Saya looked at the seal in her hand and then spoke, ”But what is this seal? I know about chakra paper, but I have not seen anything like this.”

Scratching his head, Kaito asked, ”What is chakra paper?”

Ryu smiled, explained what chakra paper is to everyone, and then added, ”This seal was developed by my grandfather to test chakra nature affinities. You are all very lucky; it’s not available for public purchase yet.”

All the kids looked at the seal with fascination. Ryu smiled and said, ”Here... take it... you can have one; there are 10 tries on each. You can test the scores of your friends and families.”

The eyes of both Fumi and Takeshi lit up. As they are from a civilian background, they were also not very rich like others from ninja clans. They were not used to such resources. Kaito too was looking at the seal like something valuable.

”It is your turn now,” Ryu said, turning to face Fumi, Takeshi, and Kaito. ”Let’s test your elemental affinity now.”

Takeshi Yamamoto’s CAT score:

Lightning: 80

Fire: 27

Earth: 13

Water: 12

Wind : 10

Fumi Suzuki’s CAT score:

Wind : 89

Water: 20

Earth: 27

Fire: 13

Lightning: 07

Kaito’s CAT score:

Earth: 60

Fire: 45

Water: 20

Lightning: 07

Wind : 06

Fumi and Takeshi both had just an affinity with a good enough score, but both had that single affinity that was rare in Leaf Village; therefore, both were very happy. With everyone present, including Ryu, but not Kaito, now had a rare primary or secondary affinity.

”Lightning-Wind-Wind, Lightning-Wind-Wind.” All three of them wereshouting while dancing in circles.

Ryu said, ”No need to be so happy. It will not matter even if you have a rare affinity if you do not train in it and also utilise it with care. Even someone with only taijutsu can beat you if they are skilled enough.”

”And Kaito, you do not need to feel the lack of a rare affinity. It is only rare in leaf country; outside of it, it is common. And even if the score is low, you have a better average score in two of them, but that is only good in just one. You can easily catch upto them if you work hard.”

Kaito’s overall affinity was not very strong, but he excelled in two specific affinities, unlike Fumi and Takeashi, who had just one affinity.

Ryu explained the training method and gave them tips for their affinities. Afterward, he went back to his own training.

”That is simple enough. I just need to cut a leaf. I can do that in the academy as well,” Fumi said.

Takashi then realised and said, ’So that was why your hands are always under the desk.”

Saya asked, ”I already know you have lightning as your primary affinity. What are you training for now?”

Ryu replied, ”I am training in earth nature manipulation.”

Saya said, ”Lightning and earth. One offensive and one defensive. That is a good combination too.”

Ryu then lectures them, ”The affinities can be categorised as offensive and defensive, but it’s actually the user that determines how well he uses his ability. Even earthly nature is offensive when used with offensive intent.”

Saya replied, ”Okay, Ryu sensei. No need to get emotional.”

Ryu thought about Kabuto and said, ”I know a few medical ninjas that can if they want to use medical ninjutsu the wrong way and purposefully harm someone. I also know about ninjas that can defeat someone just by trapping the opponent in genjutsu and keeping them forever in that genjutsu without even touching them.

Saya stiffened at the last reference, recalling the forbidden Dojutsu of the Uchiha clan.

She thought, ’Izanami... How does he know about the forbidden Dojutsu of the Uchiha clan?’

Saya’s mother had researched Uchiha archives in secret in order to awaken her Sharingan. And the secrets she discovered were unbelievable for her. The knowledge was passed on to Saya, and she too could not believe what she read.

She thought, ’Maybe he read somewhere. He keeps reading and researching in the library all the time.’

Ryu continued, ”You should never underestimate any kind of power or any kind of opponent and train in what you are good at with everything you have and not dwell on what you lack for now. Once you become proficient with what you have, you will always have the opportunity to compensate for what you lack.”

Fumi asked, ”That means you also know how to kill someone using medical ninjutsu too.”

Ryu smiled and said, ”Maybe. I hope I never have to find out.”

”Okay, now enough chit-chat; let’s train.” Ryu said, and then everyone started training.

Ryu was already using [R.A.T. Seal] at 1% resistance for earth affinity.

Ryu thought, ’They are not ready for [R.A.T. Seal]; also, I am keeping this seal for ninjas affiliated to my family; these kids won’t be able to keep their mouths shut, so let’s only train them without [R.A.T. Seal].’

Saya, Takeshi and Fumi kept training their respective affinities while Ryu trained his earth affinity. Ryu thought, ’I need to get it done and move on to water affinity fast. Or maybe I will train in [Carbon Control] together with water affinity, side by side. It’s a long road to [Diamond Release].’

’Grandpa told me he has something in mind for training in shape manipulation. I hope he was talking about [Rasengan].’

’Even though I can learn to do it by myself, I would not be able to use it so openly if I do that. However, if Grandpa gets it as a reward, I will be able to openly use it. But should I use it? It wastes too much chakra. I suppose it will be more suitable for finisher moves than regular moves. I should learn it and then combine it with all nature elements and create many finishing moves for myself.’

The next day, Dan went to see Hiruzen at his office; he had a favour to ask of him: to help Ryu train his shape manipulation. He was let in by the receptionist.

”Tsunade, you are here,” Dan said.

Tsunade replied, ”Yes, I was here to discuss something with Sensei.”

Hiruzen sighed and said, ”She is here to tell me that she is handing over the Shadow Clone Jutsu scroll to Ryu.”

Dan was a bit surprised. Ryu had asked him before, but he had refused him, and Hiruzen also knew that, so he was hesitant to give that jutsu away.

Hiruzen told him, ”Apparently she made a bet with him and lost.”

Dan looked at Tsunade and said, ”You shouldn’t bet with that rotten luck of yours.”

Tsunade’s eyebrow twitched in annoyance.

Dan continued, ”I know you mean well and it must be part of your plan, but don’t hand him that jutsu just yet. You know the risks with that jutsu. And knowing Ryu, he will try to achieve too much in too little time using that jutsu, which may have unforeseen consequences. He is still young.”

”If you are worried about it, then just say Hiruzen denied the jutsu because he is too young and tell him to wait a few years for [Shadow Clones]. You can give him the [Rasengan] instead. He apparently wants it too.”

Both Hiruzen and Tsunade were shocked. It was a legacy jutsu of a Hokage, and no one had ever asked for a personal jutsu of a Hokage before .

Hiruzen said, ”Rasangan’s learning difficulty is also A-rated. Ryu is too young for that as well.”

Dan replied, ”Maybe. But Ryu does not need it for the [Rasengan] itself but for improving his control at shape manipulation. Ryu is creating a brand new jutsu.”

Hiruzen said in surprise, ”A new jutsu? What is this jutsu?”

Dan said, ”I don’t know. It requires the highest level of nature manipulation of earth and water, as well as the highest level of shape manipulation. I don’t know much else.”

Hiruzen thought, ’Is he trying to add earth nature manipulation to shape manipulation? No, Earth is not compatible with Rasangan. No, it’s not that. He is trying to create something that I can’t think of.’

Tsuande was also thinking the same. She said, ”Earth, water and the highest level of Chara control in shape and nature. What is it that he is trying to create?”

Suddenly, a realisation struck her, shaking her to the core.

Tsunade shouted, ”Don’t tell me he is working on [Wood Release] – impossible.”

Everyone in the room was stunned. They couldn’t believe what they just heard.
