She Lives without Regret in This Life

Chapter 352: Chapter 361: Caught by the Short Hairs

I really don’t know what Meng Xingzhi is thinking with this mess.

”He’s just too young; I’ve never had a twenty-nine-year-old squadron leader in my district. Moreover, one who heads a frontline rescue team!” Shen Feihu had wanted to promote him too, but had failed to get approval several times. Now, Su Jiang has caught him by the tails.

Probably doesn’t even know how to deal with it on the way back!

”Nonsense, just because it hasn’t been done doesn’t mean we erase someone’s achievements, right?” Su Jiang scolded harshly, ”I said from the start to keep him in our Southern region, and was ready to promote him to squadron leader. I had even prepared the application. But you all insisted on snatching him away, and now?”

Su Jiang glared furiously, rendering everyone present speechless.

Shen Feihu clenched his teeth, cursing Su Jiang countless times in his heart, yet he dared not show it. He knew this was exploiting the situation!

Initially, Meng Xingzhi had snatched a person away, and Su Jiang had held a grudge about it!

After the battle at the Southern Border ended, there was a lengthy verbal dispute over Xu Qigang’s allegiance between the districts. Despite many senior leaders requesting his transfer, Su Jiang stubbornly resisted the pressure and didn’t budge. Only after Meng Xingzhi asked for him did Su Jiang agree.

The main reason was Meng Fan.

Meng Fan’s death had left Su Jiang feeling guilty toward his old teammate, his old brother. After all, as the highest commander—even if it wasn’t a problem with his policy—he had to shoulder some responsibility.

”Old leader!” Xu Qigang called out, and only then did Su Jiang drop the subject.

It would only complicate things for Xu Qigang to have a fit publicly.

”That’s enough, walk with me. The rest of you go on with your tasks!” Su Jiang waved his hand, and everyone else left except for Shen Feihu who lingered behind.

”Shen Feihu, what is this about?”

”President Su, as you are at the Rescue Association, I must accompany you, otherwise it might seem disrespectful given Qigang’s lower rank.” He was worried that Su Jiang would poach his people in his absence.

”How is it his fault that his rank is low?” Su Jiang was furious, his anger not as intense usually, but exacerbated by the grievances from his father at home.

Now it spilled onto others.

”Okay, okay. Qigang, you accompany President Su for a while. I’ve got a meeting to attend.”

”President, rest assured, the task will be accomplished.” Xu Qigang’s expression remained composed, showing no arrogance despite Su Jiang’s particular attention.

”Hmm!” Shen Feihu left reassured; he always liked how the young man remained unflappable, as if unaffected even by Mount Tai crumbling before him.

However, they had to take Su Jiang’s words today seriously, otherwise people from other districts might backstab them!

The Rescue Association’s compound was vast, and although Xu Qigang only visited one administrative building each time, he was familiar with every aspect of the layout.

Coming from an intelligence background, he was accustomed to familiarizing himself with the landscape wherever he went.

The two walked side by side, with Su Jiang’s assistant and an assistant from the Rescue Association trailing far behind.

”You kid, haven’t reached out to me at all since you left the Southern region.” Su Jiang said discontentedly, ”Don’t you miss your old friends?”

Xu Qigang touched his nose, looking somewhat helpless. He had stayed in touch with old friends, but the old leaders, not so much.

That comment was an accusation.

”I was afraid you were too busy!”

”Excuses!” Su Jiang sighed, glancing up at the sky with a troubled expression.

”Mr. President, have you encountered some insurmountable problem?” Xu Qigang guessed this from seeing him fly back.
