Family Rise by Daily Intelligence

Chapter 391: Chapter 207: The War Challenge, Alliance by Marriage, Killing Array (Part 2)

.....

Shangguan Family.

Shangguan Feng returned from the Council Hall to his secret chamber. After chatting alone with Shangguan Hongyu for half a cup of tea, an urgent buzzing sound came from his waist.

A Technique was cast into it.

The voice of Fu Changsheng emerged from the device.

After listening to Fu Changsheng’s account, Shangguan Feng’s face fell into contemplation.

Shangguan Hongyu was also puzzled:

”Father, the Li Family initially toppled the Cui Family and then the Liang Family, completely disregarding our Shangguan Family. Changsheng is obviously aware of this situation, so why is he seeking help for the Lin Family?”

Shangguan Feng instinctively tapped his right index finger on the table and murmured:

”If I’m not mistaken, Changsheng intends to use our hand to remove the core strength of the Liang Family, with the reward being the Lin Family’s foundation.”

”Father, what do you mean by this?”

Shangguan Hongyu frowned.

However, as she thought it over, she suddenly understood and said:

”In the Ninth-Grade Noble Family struggle, our Shangguan Family cannot intervene. But when it concerns the survival of a Noble Family, the Lin Family can send a signal, and then our Shangguan Family has a reason to send troops. By then, the three members of the Lin Family in the Foundation Establishment stage only need to leave one puppet; then we can control the Lin Family completely. Changsheng’s idea is brilliant!”

”However...”

”As far as I know, the Liang Family and the Fu Family have no disputes of interest and no past grudges, so why would Changsheng suddenly want to eradicate the core strength of the Liang Family? Is it to compete for the hegemonic position of the Ninth-Grade Noble Family? Then he should have aimed at the Cui Family instead.”

Shangguan Feng smiled faintly:

”Wait for Changsheng’s next move, and it will become clear.”

.....

Lin Family’s Domain.

The Ghost Immortal Lady rested for a while in the Wanning Marketplace before returning to the domain.

Lin Tianfu, who had received the message, along with another newly promoted Foundation Establishment member, Lin Yunsheng, had been waiting early at the Noble Family Archway of the mountain gate.

Upon seeing the Ghost Immortal Lady appear with one arm severed in front of them, Lin Tianfu felt a mix of heartache and guilt.

If he had known the Secret Realm was so dangerous, he should have insisted on going himself.

The three sat down in the Council Hall.

Only then did Lin Tianfu say:

”Wife, I heard that six members of the Liang Family died together in the Secret Realm. What exactly happened in there?”

If it were in the past, he would have certainly let his wife heal first.

But his wife teamed up with the Liang Family; the Liang Family was wiped out, and she was the only one left alive. Surely, the Liang Family will come soon to inquire about this matter.

He needs to understand the ins and outs before that to prepare a countermeasure.

The Ghost Immortal Lady took a sip of Five-pointed Tea, her eyes flickered, and she went over the draft in her mind before speaking faintly:

”Husband, I don’t know how the others from the Liang Family died, but Liang Family’s Second Elder, Liang Zhitang, died at the hands of Fu Changsheng while fighting for a Star Stone, and this severed arm of mine is also Fu Changsheng’s doing. If it weren’t for me being just a lookout and running fast, I fear I’d have long become a ghost under Fu Changsheng’s sword.”

”Fu Changsheng?”

Lin Tianfu frowned slightly and said with confusion:

”We have no disputes of interest with the Fu Family, and we’re both under Shangguan. Logically, he shouldn’t have harmed you...

Before he could finish, the Ghost Immortal Lady coldly interrupted:

”Husband, you’re thinking too highly of Fu Changsheng.

When the Fu Family was in Nanyang County, they destroyed the Li Family and Zhang Family one after another, and when they rose to the Ninth Grade, the Ping Family was also wiped out by them.

This Fu Changsheng is no good person.

His attack on me was merely to prevent me from leaking the incident of him killing Liang Zhitang, trying to silence me.

Furthermore, we previously asked him for a spot in the Secret Realm, and he must have been harboring a grudge. From now on, we should definitely cut ties with the Fu Family.”

”Husband,”

”We must quickly contact the Liang Family and inform the Liang Clan Leader of this news; otherwise, I’m afraid Fu Changsheng will preemptively make accusations, twisting the facts in front of the Liang Family. That would be disastrous for our Lin Family.”

Lin Tianfu was henpecked.

Although he harbored doubts in his heart, seeing his wife speak with such certainty, he asked no more questions.

Sitting at the lower seat, Lin Yunsheng couldn’t help but speak up:

”Patriarch, we are under the Shangguan Family’s rule. Frequent contact with the Liang Family might be inappropriate. Moreover, the Fu Family has been under the protection of Shangguan Feng and his daughter since the days of Qi Refining Clan. If we truly fall out with the Fu Family, I’m afraid the Shangguan Family won’t be kind to us.”

After all, one must yield under the roof.

Lin Tianfu, hearing this, also felt it made sense:

”Wife, how about we just let the matter of Fu Changsheng killing Liang Zhitang go? Your cultivation is only in the Middle Stage of Foundation Establishment; even if Fu Changsheng wants to distort the truth and claim that you killed Liang Zhitang, the Liang Family surely wouldn’t believe it.”

The Ghost Immortal Lady flashed a trace of irritation between her brows:

”Then what do I say to the Liang Family when they come to inquire why I’m the only one who survived?”

”My lady, that’s easy to explain. Just say you were transported to a perilous area in the Secret Realm and barely escaped with your life. When you finally reached the designated gathering point, the Liang Family and others had already vanished.”

”Yes, yes, just say that.”

Lin Tianfu nodded repeatedly.

In this way.

Neither the Liang Family nor the Fu Family needed to be offended.

The Ghost Immortal Lady wanted to say more.

Outside the Council Hall, a guard ran in, panting heavily, pointing outside:

”Patriarch, the Liang Family members, bringing a matchmaker and a lot of betrothal gifts, are stopped at our mountain gate, and it’s... it’s the Liang Clan Leader himself who came in person.”

The Liang Family came not to investigate but to propose an alliance through marriage?!

The three people present, Lin Tianfu, and his companions were evidently bewildered, not knowing what the Liang Family had up their sleeve.
