Naruto: Reborn as Konoha's Idol

Chapter 201: Chapter 202 By the way, how much did ōnoki offer?

”By the way, how much did ōnoki offer?”

”300 million ryo.”

That’s nearly ten Asumas! Does he have to be so ruthless?!

”Let’s go, let’s go, hurry up. He’s definitely dying today. After we kill him, I’ll give you all the money I have on me.”

Kano even pulled out her flat little cloth pouch and tossed it to Kakuzu. He weighed it; it was full of coins... At this time, ōnoki had not returned with the Land of Earth’s Daimyo. Instead, he was leading a group of Iwagakure’s elite Ninjas, hiding among the reefs to prepare an ambush for the Konoha ship.

Tourists from all over were leaving the Hidden Mist Village one after another. The Land of Earth Daimyo’s party was the second to last to leave, and the Konoha party was the last.

”Why hasn’t the Konoha team arrived yet? Are you sure they’re coming this way?”

”That’s right. I found the Konoha return route map by sneaking in.”

... ”I think we should change our route. Since we’re leaving so late, someone might be lying in wait for us.”

Asuma, with a cigarette in his mouth, was playing shogi with Shikamaru.

”Shikamaru, won’t this arrangement waste a lot of time?”

”You don’t understand. My sister told me that taking the long way around is the ultimate shortcut. It’s always better to be cautious.”

... ”We can’t count on Konoha taking only one route. Split up some men to stake out other possible paths. If a Konoha ship appears, notify the others immediately.”

ōnoki issued the order, showing his subordinates a picture of the large Konoha ship... ”Shikamaru, why are we switching to a small boat? Where are we going to sleep at night?”

Ino crawled into the cabin and complained to Shikamaru. There was only one small cabin now; if they wanted to rest at night, she would have to squeeze in with the boys.

”A large ship is too big a target and easily ambushed. Switching to a small boat is safer.”

”Kano-chan has it easy, running off on her own using Space-Time Ninjutsu, leaving us here. Couldn’t she have taken us back with her?”

”She’s experimented with transporting animals. At the very least, small animals couldn’t handle the pressure of the teleportation and died. She just hasn’t experimented on humans yet. Do you want to try?”

”Never mind, never mind.”

Ino waved her hands hurriedly; she didn’t want to be a guinea pig. Kano had indeed tried using the Shadow Pool to seal creatures and then use Shadow Exchange to teleport with them.

But for some reason, even though the guinea pigs were physically unharmed, they definitely died. However, the Shadow Ninjas could survive, though no one knew why.

”Could we switch to a slightly larger boat? At least one that can separate the guys and girls.”

”Got it. Next time, for sure.”

... ”We also can’t rule out the possibility that they might change ships. Send Sensory Ninjas to observe every vessel. We absolutely cannot let the Konoha Ninjas leave this sea area. Once they’re gone, it’ll be hard for us to make a move.”

”But, Lord Tsuchikage, we don’t have that many Sensory Ninjas.”

”Then have them keep an eye on every ship they see and observe carefully who is on board.”

... ”Shikamaru, what are those two Shadow Ninjas doing outside?”

Choji sat down next to Shikamaru, eating potato chips while watching him play.

”The one with the greatsword is creating a thick mist, and the short one is using Ice Mirrors to cover the ship’s surface.”

”What’s the use of that?”

”This way, others won’t be able to see our ship.”

”Isn’t this being a bit too cautious?”

”Well, we have nothing better to do. Just think of it as developing Ninjutsu.”

... ”As expected of the strongest Tsuchikage, Lord ōnoki. Truly a brilliant strategist with god-like calculations, considering every possibility for Konoha.”

”It’s all experience, just speaking from experience.”

ōnoki waved his hand, not out of modesty, but to imply they still had much to learn.

”We’re splitting our forces like this; will we be able to win when we encounter Konoha?”

”What are you worried about? Worried about Lord Tsuchikage’s strength, or how long the enemy can survive? With Lord Tsuchikage’s Particle Style, any enemy is just a bunch of weaklings!”

ōnoki waved his hand modestly this time, but a slight smile remained on his lips.

”We still need to be cautious. Don’t worry about the combat power; the Akatsuki Organization will continue to send members to assist us. Two are coming this time as well. With their previous experience against the enemy, they are very confident.”

”Is it unreliable for us to cooperate with an illegal organization like that?”

”Don’t worry, I’ve cooperated with them several times. They might be a bit weak, but they are very trustworthy.”

”What do they look like?”

”They wear black robes with red patterns; it’s very obvious.”

”Is it like that?”

”Yes, yes, that’s them.”

”Then I’ll call them over.” An Iwagakure Ninja stood up and waved. ”Over here!”

Kano glanced at Kakuzu.

”Did you arrange a mole?”

”No, I just cooperated with them to kill the konoha songstress. They probably assume I’m an ally.”

”That’s perfect. We won’t even need to launch a frontal assault.”
