Immortality begins with Becoming an Alchemy Grandmaster

”Where is the Chess Scripture?”

Zhou Fuqiu showed a hesitant expression on his face.

Lin Jingshu’s face darkened slightly, ”Our Tianyuan Daoist Sect places great emphasis on the way of chess, and all those who achieve success are skilled in Go. How can you be so careless?”

Zhou Fuqiu smiled wryly, ”I really have no interest in playing chess, I’ve disappointed you, mother.”

Lin Jingshu frowned, feeling that her son might have only inherited his father’s personality.

Her Lin Family was a native of the Han Gate of the Daoist Sect, while her husband’s Zhou Family was a Guest Elder of the Star Gate, coming from the North Sea.

Perhaps, from deep within, they just don’t like the matter of the chessboard.

Shaking her head, Lin Jingshu moved past this matter and proactively said, ”There’s an urgent message from your father’s side. Demon Beasts have been spotted along the coast. The Zhou, Lin, and Yin families are understaffed, so I must go to help.”

Zhou Fuqiu asked, ”What about home?”

Lin Jingshu waved her hand, ”Don’t worry, the family has our ancestors in charge, and no one will dare to offend. I have arranged for Granny Lin to take care of everything at home. Though she’s old, she does have the Late Stage Qi Refinement Realm. The only thing I worry about is your sister.”

Zhou Fuqiu understood, nodding heavily, ”Don’t worry, mother. I will take good care of my sister!”

Lin Jingshu motioned, satisfied.

The previously well-behaved little girl ran over, and Zhou Fuqiu also moved closer.

The young woman picked up the girl with one arm and ruffled the boy’s hair with the other.

”It won’t take long, and your father and I will be back. You two behave at home.”

”Mm!”

”Mm!”

Then, Lin Jingshu, holding the little girl, walked out, with the youth closely following behind.

Outside the waterside pavilion, Granny Lin, who was mentioned before, was quietly waiting, hunched over.

”Wait for us to return.”

The boy took his sister from his mother and waved goodbye to her.

Lin Jingshu felt a bit reluctant, but it was time, so she summoned a Flying Sword and stepped onto it.

In the distance, a huge Flying Boat was already hovering in the sky, and figures from all directions were gathering onto it.

Lin Jingshu waved with a smile to the children, then used Sword Control to ascend to the Flying Boat.

Soon, the Flying Boat was ready, and after hovering for a moment, it slowly flew toward the coast.

On the ground.

The drizzle was falling gently, and Zhou Fuqiu’s view of the Flying Boat had vanished. Then he picked up his sister.

”It’s too cold outside, let’s go home!”

”Brother, how long until mother returns?”

”Very soon.” Zhou Fuqiu ruffled the little girl’s head and then said to Granny Lin nearby, ”The tonic Seventh Uncle’s family sent is in the waterside pavilion. Please, Granny, take some time to brew it for me to take while I study at night.”

Granny Lin was not a member of the Zhou Family; she was a maid from his mother’s family and a dowry maid, so clan matters didn’t trouble her. But she was very attentive when caring for Fuqiu and his sister.

Upon hearing this, she nodded with a kind smile.

”Young master is really diligent!”

That night.

Zhou Fuqiu read by candlelight while sipping the tonic Granny Lin had brewed, feeling revitalized, able to read ten lines at a glance.

He thought to himself, what Seventh Uncle’s family sent was really good.

But on the third day, an incident occurred.

Crash!

A porcelain bowl fell to the ground, breaking into pieces.

Reading, Zhou Fuqiu turned to see a small girl lying on the ground, her face flushed, her mouth wet with soup.

”Mao Mao!”

Zhou Fuqiu’s face changed dramatically. He grabbed her up and rang the bell hanging by the waterside pavilion.

Quickly, Granny Lin appeared in the room.

”How did this happen?”

Zhou Fuqiu looked a bit panicked, ”I don’t know. I was just reading and Mao Mao was playing beside me. Then she just...”

His gaze fell on the broken bowl on the ground, which once had a half bowl of tonic, now only a little liquid remained.

”It’s the bowl of tonic!”

Granny Lin examined Zhou Qingyu’s body and slightly exhaled in relief.

”There’s still life force; don’t worry. We’ll go to Hai Bo Clan Elder, he’s most skilled in healing techniques.”

Saying this, she took out a Talisman and stuck it on herself, then picked up the little girl with one hand and took the boy with the other, transforming into a green light and rushing out of the house.

...

Late at night.

An elder, smiling cheerfully, said to Granny Lin and Zhou Fuqiu, ”No worries, it’s just that she’s not tolerating the tonic well. This tonic is too fiery, not really suitable for children, especially since Qingyu’s body is too weak. I’ve already used medical magic and elixirs to save Qingyu. She just needs to recuperate for a while.”

Upon hearing this, Granny Lin completely sighed in relief.

She looked at the guilt-ridden Zhou Fuqiu, ”Young master Fuqiu, there is no need to blame yourself.”

”How can I not blame myself? Mother specifically entrusted me with taking care of my sister before she left.” Zhou Fuqiu looked at his sister with heartache. Her exquisite face no longer flushed red, but paler than before, with even her translucent veins faintly visible. ”It’s all my fault for letting her get her hands on that tonic.”

Though Zhou Fuqiu appeared like a young man, he was merely a five-year-old child developing early.

Heartache, anxiety, panic, guilt—all these emotions surfaced uncontrollably.

The highly skilled Elder Hai Bo curiously asked, ”Although this tonic can invigorate the mind and improve eyesight, it’s not suitable for use by children, and the preparation is complex. Why did you brew it for young Fuqiu?”

Granny Lin hesitated, ”It was sent by Seventh Elder’s family, and since young master Fuqiu felt good after drinking it, I would brew two bowls every day.”

”Oh, I see!” Elder Hai Bo seemed thoughtful, then waved his hand, ”Don’t brew that stuff in the future. Also, I have a Fire-removing Pill here, let young Fuqiu take it.”

Having explained everything, he quickly left the room.
