Immortality begins with Becoming an Alchemy Grandmaster

Luo Chen smiled without speaking.

Deng Taiyue shook his head and continued to introduce the Great Elder of the East Sun Sect.

”He achieved the Late Stage Nascent Soul early, and logically he should have come out to help during the Human and Demon War. But throughout the whole two hundred years of the war, he didn’t make a personal appearance. It is said that he seized the opportunity to achieve Merit Perfection and became the only one in the Eastern Wasteland to reach Nascent Soul Finalization!”

Nascent Soul Finalization?

Luo Chen’s mouth slightly lifted, showing a hint of interest.

He casually asked, ”Does the Great Elder of East Sun Sect have any famous battle records?”

Deng Taiyue was taken aback, ”That indeed stumped me.”

Luo Chen frowned, ”Then are there any records of his actions witnessed by many people?”

Deng Taiyue thought for a while, ”There are indeed some, but they can’t be considered as life-and-death struggles. Not long ago, during the auction I hosted, the newly ascended Great Cultivator Jiuling Yuanjun exuberantly exchanged a move with the Great Elder of East Sun Sect.”

”And the result?” Luo Chen showed a curious expression.

”Jiuling Yuanjun was defeated, his strength was slightly inferior.” Deng Taiyue replied.

Luo Chen was not very satisfied with this answer, as the information was too sparse.

”But later, during a private gathering, Jiuling Yuanjun seemed somewhat dissatisfied with the result of the confrontation. He candidly stated that if it were a life-and-death struggle, who would win was still uncertain.”

With this additional description, Luo Chen understood the situation.

At least when he tried with the newly ascended Great Cultivator Jiuling Yuanjun, Jiuling Yuanjun admitted his defeat wholeheartedly.

On the other hand, the Great Elder of East Sun Sect defeated Jiuling Yuanjun in one move, but the latter was not convinced, which indicates that the gap between them is not too large.

”It seems this person is skilled in cultivation but not in spell battles,” Luo Chen made a rough judgment.

Deng Taiyue asked curiously, ”Do you want to get rid of him?”

Luo Chen asked in return, ”Didn’t you say he wouldn’t be tempted by the Ti Hu Pill to become my ally?”

Deng Taiyue nodded, ”Indeed, after the Dark Abyss Sect was destroyed, he directly surrendered to the Tianyuan Daoist Sect. Even now that the main force of Tianyuan Daoist Sect has left the Eastern Wasteland, he still represents the Daoist Sect to collect tributes from various Great Sects in the Eastern Wasteland. There are rumors that he plans to emulate the previous Star Gate system of the Daoist Sect and join the Tianyuan Daoist Sect. The Tianyuan Daoist Sect then promises to help him achieve the God Transformation Realm. Therefore, your Ti Hu Pill would be difficult to sway him.”

The Ti Hu Pill only offers a chance to prematurely comprehend the Law’s True Intent and accelerate cultivation.

Although comprehending the Law’s True Intent greatly aids future advancement to the God Transformation Realm, the most crucial requirement for true advancement is not the Law’s True Intent, nor the Primordial Spirit, but a Fifth Order Spiritual Land!

Such territories are solely controlled by the Holy Land of the Mountain Sea Realm.

If one day Luo Chen can resurrect Yanfu Mountain buried in the Nether Abyss, he too would have the chance to control a piece of Fifth Order Spiritual Land.

In fact, this is also why Deng Taiyue is so responsive to him, as Deng Taiyue has indeed seen Yanfu Mountain and knows that Luo Chen has acquired the Ming Water Spring Eye, which already qualifies him to restart Yanfu Mountain.

If someday, he manages to reach the final step, he would also desperately lack a Fifth Order Spiritual Land.

By that time, the three commitments Luo Chen made today would become very valuable.

By the same token, he can understand why the Great Elder of East Sun Sect would never accept any of Luo Chen’s terms.

The temptation of achieving God Transformation is enough to overwhelm everything!

Deng Taiyue hesitated for a moment, but still advised, ”But would eliminating him now not alert our enemies? If the Daoist Sect guards against it, we truly have no ground to overturn.”

Luo Chen laughed and said, ”You’re right, I don’t plan to act against him now. But it’s always necessary to meet him face to face, for instead of waiting for them to approach me, I might as well visit and see for myself.”

”Is this okay?” Deng Taiyue seemed worried.

Luo Chen brushed past him, patting his shoulder.

”Don’t worry about these things anymore, next you use the Ti Hu Pill and the pill-taking experiences and insights I gave you to cultivate well! You must comprehend the Law’s True Intent!”

Luo Chen put his hood back on, took a step into the air, and disappeared into the night.

After he left, the stone spirit in the moonlight transformed once again into a beast form.

It said in a deep tone, ”Master Taiyue, that person just now absolutely should not be made an enemy!”

Deng Taiyue said helplessly, ”I already know of his power, without comprehending the Law’s True Intent, I’m absolutely not his match.”

The Stone Guardian growled, ”No, even if you make a breakthrough, do not attempt to antagonize him.”

Deng Taiyue frowned, looking at his own stone spirit in confusion.

The Stone Guardian took a deep breath, eyes filled with intense fear.

”The feeling I got from him isn’t weaker than a Divine Transformation Great Power.”

Deng Taiyue was astonished, ”Is it really that exaggerated?”

...

”Master, that stone spirit is quite interesting, why not take it in?”

Bai Meiling piloted the Frost Eagle Shuttle, curiously asking about that guy called Stone Guardian earlier.

Luo Chen sighed helplessly, ”That is the mountain-guarding Stone Spirit; how could I snatch someone else’s treasure.”

Bai Meiling responded with an ”Oh” and then said, ”But it seems to be very afraid of you. You casually unleashed a strand of Qi Power, and it reverted to its original form.”

Luo Chen replied calmly, ”It should be afraid of me, naturally! Spiritual beings, too, have their strengths and weaknesses. My Purple Mansion harbors two great Fire Spirits, both are Fifth Order existences comparable to Divine Transformation. With just a hint of my Breath, it’s enough to make Stone Guardian feel terrified.”

Bai Meiling suddenly understood.

Not long ago, she had also witnessed the Nirvana Fire Spirit, a formidable presence akin to a true Divine Beast Phoenix!

”Master, where shall we head next? Should we head directly out to sea, or go to the East Sun Sect?”

”To the East Sun Sect, which is also on the way to the sea.” Luo Chen said lightly, as if he was not worried at all about entering the Nascent Soul Sect, the top of Eastern Wasteland.

Bai Meiling chuckled, speeding up the Frost Eagle Shuttle.

...

A few days later.

Inside the East Sun Sect, Luo Chen walked calmly up a long stone staircase.

Bai Meiling’s voice of wonder came to his ears.

”Master, the East Sun Sect is so lively!”

Luo Chen looked up towards the sky, unable to help but feel the same; indeed, it had been a long time since he had seen such a bustling Sect.

In the sky, Glints of light flickered, with many practitioners soaring on their Sword Control.

Within the mountains and forests, shadows of people moved.

Even on this stone staircase leading to the mountain peak where the Guest Elder resides, disciples were coming and going.

This was indeed unusual among the Great Sects, which had suffered talent attrition over the last two hundred years of Human-Demon War.

But considering how the East Sun Sect barely participated in direct battles in the last two hundred years aside from sending the Shouyang Mountain Man and some lower order disciples, it seemed quite normal.

Especially after the end of the Human-Demon War, the East Sun Sect replaced the Daoist Sect in collecting tributes from other major Sects in Eastern Wasteland, amassing unimaginable wealth in the process.

In this situation, the East Sun Sect today could be considered the true number one sect of the Eastern Wasteland!

It’s just a pity that such an East Sun Sect has no independent rights.

Luo Chen stepped forward, seemingly unnoticed by the surrounding disciples.

Before long, he arrived at a courtyard.

Inside, two individuals were conversing.

”Who knows when we can return to Zhongzhou!”

”What’s good about going back? The Sect is divided, with clans competing for power. The Patriarch isn’t interested in managing the Sect, and going back means getting caught in internal strife. Where else can you find peace, merely collecting contributions and focusing on cultivation?”

”That may be true, but didn’t the Patriarch issue an order to heavily train a new generation of disciples? I would have liked to add my newly adult grandson to the list, he might have a chance at becoming a True Disciple.”

”Don’t even think about it. The conditions for this training program are extremely strict; how many Spirit Roots does your grandson have?”

”Indeed, never mind. We should just focus on our cultivation here in the Eastern Wasteland, aiming for the Middle Stage Nascent Soul before going back. That way, we’ll have a stronger voice in the clan.”

”Cultivation alone isn’t enough. The Patriarch sent word to say we should keep an eye on Luo Chen.”

”This Luo Chen person...”

The conversation in the courtyard continued, ranging over topics beyond just one region or technique.

The two Nascent Soul True Masters chatted animatedly, covering various topics.

It wasn’t until evening that one of them left.

After he had gone, the remaining person was about to use Qi Power to close the courtyard gate when he saw a figure cloaked in a black robe walking in.

”Who are you?”

This person showed displeasure at the intruder’s lack of etiquette, then saw the figure lower its hood, revealing a pair of eyes shimmering with exotic colors.

Besides those eyes, he couldn’t see anything else, remembering no features of the person.

He only heard a voice coming through the bewilderment.

”Name?”

He murmured in response, ”Shi Chuanting.”

The black-robed man’s mouth curled slightly, ”Quite lucky, a Nascent Soul True Master from the Twelve Great Houses.”
