Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1041: Chapter 139 Blind Eye (Five) Chapter 1041: Chapter 139 Blind Eye (Five) After a true brainstorm, a feedback of the Transcendent category allowed Fu Qian to faintly confirm that he seemed to have recovered the “forgotten knowledge” related to the gloves.

However, this content… wasn’t exactly right!

[Heart Calamity: Conjure a Resonance Spike that, upon hitting the target, inflicts severe psychic shocks on both the target and the user himself.]

Such a domineering form turned out to be a casting tool, let alone, Fu Qian found it fairly easy to understand—a mental version of the Seven Injuries Fist, capable of impacting the mind of both others and oneself.

But the key question was, why?

If this were equipment in the hands of another Transcendent, Fu Qian might have accepted it, but the current user was just an ordinary person with a fragile mind. Who were they planning to attack with this spike?

Against a Transcendent? Probably you’d go mad before your opponent did.

Against ordinary people? If they’re ordinary, why not just use a gun?

As for the team in front of him, Fu Qian didn’t think they lacked the ability to get a gun.

All things considered, it was quite interesting.

There was no sense of loss; instead, Fu Qian found himself even more curious about this team.

As everyone knows, those who handle mysterious weapons in the worldly society usually have considerable skill.

“It really is as dangerous as I expected.”

At that moment, Ice’s voice came again; looking in the direction of her voice, Fu Qian saw her receiving another piece of equipment from the Saintly Old Master, her fingers caressing it while she sighed.

No need to ask, another member hadn’t woken up.

Out of a total of nine people, two were already gone in an instant, and it was clear that the journey had just begun. The casualty rate was alarmingly high.

But even so, Fu Qian didn’t feel that Ice, sighing over there, had much genuine emotion.

They seemed to have expected these developments beforehand, and that statement seemed more to stabilize morale.

For instance, Brother TP, who seemed to have recovered quite a bit, was now looking at the second sacrificed member, his expression slightly wooden.

According to previous speculation, if everyone besides the Saintly Old Master and Ice were cannon fodder, including himself, that would already be a loss of forty percent.

The only good news was, the remaining person had already awakened and was currently resting.

“This journey was never a test of brute strength.”

Seemingly in response to Ice’s emotions, the Saintly Old Master also sighed deeply then spoke, full of melancholy.

“Remember what I said before we left, ‘In this place, only knowledge is a reliable power to lean on; the dangers we face will greatly exceed the claws of monsters.’”

“Indeed, but looking on the bright side, at least it proves we are in the right place and our methods are effective.”

Shi Gaozhi remained the most relaxed person there, chuckling on the side.

“I can’t wait to witness the ancient secrets up next.”

“Fine, you can go in front later.”

Charlotte, who had faced setbacks from him earlier, clearly had no intention of letting bygones be bygones as she coldly interjected while casually taking the equipment from Ice.

“Sage, can we set off now?”

As he handed over the equipment to Brother TP for secure keeping, he simultaneously looked at the old master.

Sage, the title suited him almost as expected.

“Of course, we still have a long way.”

Following these words, the newly dubbed Sage Old Master, with his Golden Staff, pointed to a corner leading to a narrow stone path sloping downward.

From the look of things around, it seemed that many years had passed since anyone last walked there.

But the Sage Old Master was obviously extremely confident in the path he had chosen.

He didn’t wait for anyone; the next moment, he took the lead.

“Of course, the upside is that there seem to be many fewer puzzles to deal with up next.”

Following this remark, Brother TP, having seemingly finished his mental preparations, took the equipment that Charlotte handed over and secured it.

Could it really be that each person can only equip one item?

Fu Qian silently nodded at this sight.

From his recent experience with controlling the gloves, it was apparent that the operator needed to establish some kind of connection at the cognitive level with the symbols on the equipment to genuinely harness its power.

But, just as the designs of the equipment varied, so presumably did the symbols on them; it looked like it was impossible to manage two types at the same time.

Otherwise, no matter how mismatched the designs, Fu Qian believed Ice and her team would likely have carried several extra pieces.

…

Compared to the symbols at Bee Monkey City Monastery, these didn’t seem quite similar!

Although the Sage Old Master took the lead with great confidence, the fate of the cannon fodder group was still difficult to change.

Following the stone path downwards for just a few steps, at Brother TP’s suggestion, Fu Qian moved to the front of the group.

And the last member to awaken was left at the rear of the team.

Fu Qian had no objections to this arrangement; it was a perfect opportunity to openly take in his surroundings.

The underground structure where the group was located was extraordinarily complex.

Not only were the passages undulating up and down, but every few steps there was a branching path.

Fortunately, the Sage Old Master, ever masterful in his strategizing, always pointed with his Golden Staff, never hesitating for even half a second to determine the direction.

Also, compared to other Holy Temples and temples he had seen before, there were not many patterns or emblems on the walls, only at a few places could an eye shape without a pupil be seen.

This was somewhat unexpected.

Based on previous initial guesses, Fu Qian had thought this place was another stronghold of the Holy Grail Sect.

But from what he saw now, it was obviously very different from the style underneath the Monastery, and much older.

However, the sight of the eye symbol seemed to excite Ice and her team, evidently recognizing it.

Unfortunately, as they ventured deeper, even the usually talkative Brother Shi Gaozhi had now shut up, and there was no one around to help clear his confusion—

Just as he thought this, Fu Qian and Brother TP simultaneously stopped.

Ahead on the only path forward, a figure in a thick black robe was crawling on the ground, seeming disturbed by the light from everyone’s lanterns, slowly turning around.

Illuminated by the bright light, his facial features and limbs appeared grotesquely twisted, his facial skin ominously white and translucent.

There were people here, even locals.

Faced with this terrifying sight, Fu Qian was not frightened but pleased.

Although it didn’t look like he had the capacity for verbal communication, that was alright; there were many ways to communicate.

“Left hand!”

As expected, this command came immediately, even directed personally by the Sage Old Master.

Lucky for him, he had just done some rehabilitation, or this moment could have been quite awkward.

Fu Qian sighed internally, and the next moment, a golden light shone, and an ephemeral spike, swirling with countless brown fragments, slowly appeared in his hand.
