Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 554: Chapter 554: Beauty (11)_1 Chapter 554: Chapter 554: Beauty (11)_1 The room, no longer pristine white, fell into a lengthy silence.

In this situation, Fu Qian didn’t rush to speak but instead placed the enormous turkey head on the bed and quietly waited, watching the direction of the mirror.

On his wrists and ankles were gruesome lacerations, the result of struggling against his restraints, blood streaming shockingly.

Of course, these wounds had in fact come from his own doing.

Even for visual effect, he had purposely suppressed his healing ability.

I’m not here to kill today, but to engage in an academic discussion.

However, it was clear that Zetian on the other side needed some time to process the shock.

Considering I’ve already mentioned his name, I believe he won’t leave, thought Fu Qian.

Crack!

Several minutes later, the turkey brother’s corpse finally ceased convulsing, and the door was opened once again, with a stern-faced Zetian walking in.

This contestant who had just altered his voice didn’t even bother to wear a mask like his partner did.

“Your choice of help isn’t very good,” Fu Qian said, with no surprise showing on his face as he casually pointed at the corpse.

“We really didn’t mean any harm.”

Zetian, struggling not to look at the decapitated body of his partner, explained through gritted teeth.

“Why do I not believe that?”

Fu Qian shook his head.

“Why don’t you tell me, if I refuse to cooperate, how do you plan to wrap this up?”

“No, you’re definitely going to cooperate.”

It wasn’t until that moment that Zetian seemed to have fully digested the recent drastic change and he let out a long sigh.

“From your backyard to your kitchen.”

He uttered a cryptic phrase, and seeing Fu Qian fall silent for a moment, Zetian continued to shake his head.

“We know much more than you think we do.”

“And please believe that, unlike the Night Watchman, even if you could maintain an ordinary identity, we could still easily send you to the electric chair.”

“It’s a pity I didn’t make this clear to you from the start, as I had envisaged a more amiable exchange.”

“In your estimation, I’ll be more cooperative under pressure, will I?”

Fu Qian hummed.

“The original plan was indeed that, since we wanted only to collect some information.”

Zetian’s gaze became stern.

“I must say, your actions have complicated matters.”

“Yes, it seems you’ve run into some trouble,” Fu Qian said slowly as he wiped the blood from his hand dry against the mattress.

“Aren’t you the same?”

“Your performance just now was thoroughly inhuman. If the Night Watchman finds out, there would be no outcome for you but complete annihilation.”

Zetian snorted, staring at the forcefully torn lock buckle.

“Actually, I understand that must be why you don’t want to expose yourself, right?”

“After all, once identified as a Transcendent, you’ll find yourself even more restricted in your actions.”

“What exactly is this place?”

Fu Qian suddenly changed the subject in response to Zetian’s question.

“Why do you care about that?”

“The essence of exchange lies in showing sincerity to each other, I hate being played for a fool.”

“I admit I did underestimate you before, you’re more perceptive and dangerous than I thought,” Zetian conceded with a slight loosening of his tone and a flicker of brightness in his eyes.

“By the way, does consuming one of your own kind really offer such an exalted state of mind?”

Despite this, he did not forget to issue a threat.

“Of course, to show my sincerity, I’ll answer your earlier question first. This is a special hospital under the banner of a corporate group.”

“So don’t say I didn’t warn you. Even if you walk out that door, you might not make it home.”

“So it really was an individual action, wasn’t it?”

Fu Qian, however, paid no attention to Zetian’s threat and nodded thoughtfully.

“…Why do you say that?”

The latter’s body stiffened again.

“Don’t be nervous, I know you’ve been trying to imply that I’m facing the Yasui Group, so as to make it easier for me to accept the conditions.”

Fu Qian saw this and let out a cold laugh.

“But there’s a fundamental difference between a member of the group and the group itself.”

“I found it strange from the beginning because, in my view, the Yasui Group has no need to do such a thing. Geniuses and freaks may be rare, but they’re never in short supply when the base number is large enough.”

“And this kind of well-established system is far more important than one or two rare specimens.”

“As long as it keeps running, they can get a steady stream of experimental materials without taking any risks. Why would they start capturing people themselves, especially under great risk?”

“If I were your leader, and you brought this plan to me, do you know what I would do?”

Looking at Zetian, whose face was turning red and then pale, Fu Qian shook his head.

“I would throw everything I could grab in my hand at your face, and then give you five minutes to get out and go back to farming.”

“So, a fairly reasonable explanation would be that this was your own idea.”

“The Yasui Group might indeed have listed me as a special observation subject, but such presumptuous actions are almost certainly your own personal thoughts.”

“After reviewing some materials related to me, you saw today that I had actually come to Yasui Tower and decided to make contact with me on the spur of the moment, while also taking the chance to observe me up close.”

“After all, if by any chance I really gained something special because of my dietary preferences, there’s a good likelihood of producing an exciting report.”

“Let me think, what was it that solidified your decision to act after I rejected you, the moment I helped Kagetsu Kana?”

Fu Qian looked at his bruised and battered hands.

“It seems gentlemanly manners really are ill-advised!”

“Brilliant analysis.”

Throughout Fu Qian’s narration, Zetian’s expressions were a kaleidoscope of change, eventually even breaking into a clapping sound.

“Now it seems, his death wasn’t really unjust.”

“You guessed right; this was indeed my personal plan.”

“But as I said before, I never intended to harm you, I merely hoped that through special communication, you would cooperate with me for testing.”

“This I believe.”

Fu Qian nodded.

“But there’s a precondition for the scenario you describe, that is, your guess is correct and I am indeed no ordinary person. What if you find out your guess was wrong?”

“How do you plan to manage the aftermath?”

“Letting me go peacefully, how can you be sure I wouldn’t go to the Night Watchman and blow the whistle on the whole thing?”

“You wouldn’t want your own cannibalism to be revealed—”

“That’s impossible!”

Fu Qian cut off Zetian’s rebuttal directly.

“The Yasui Group could easily send me to the electric chair, but that’s not you.”

“When all is said and done, you’re just expendable cannon fodder, and I don’t believe they would endorse your foolish actions.”

“At that point, your best outcome is probably to confess to the Night Watchman. So, from the moment you decided to take action, it would be better for me if I really wasn’t ordinary. Otherwise, the outlook would be grim.”

“So what exactly do you want?”

At this point, Zetian finally realized that this person before him, in a certain sense more non-human than himself, was a villain who regarded his own kind as food. Their conversation needed to be more straightforward.

“That’s more like it. Those hypocritical exchanges of information are meaningless.”

Fu Qian’s features twisted bit by bit until they formed a maniacal smile.

“I was just helping you analyze the situation just now. In short, because of your foolish adventure, someone is dead, and you can’t explain it away. You’re as good as dead.”

“If that’s really the case, your end would be just as worrisome.”

Zetian couldn’t help but say sternly.

“I know, but you’re as good as dead,” Fu Qian said, smiling unabated.

“Fortunately for you, I’ve suddenly become a little interested in Transcendent powers.”
