Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 502: Chapter 502: Furnace (Seven)_1 Chapter 502: Chapter 502: Furnace (Seven)_1 Although it was obviously an old house, it had been tidied up and was very clean.

At the moment, the setting sun shone through the window into the living room, casting everything in a layer of golden yellow, creating a very tranquil and peaceful scene.

The living environment isn’t bad, but why do I always feel there’s something slightly off?

As Fu Qian looked at the scene before him, he muttered to himself while pondering what made him feel the dissonance.

He quickly realized why—the furniture and appliances were too new.

Under normal circumstances, it’s quite rare for someone to update all of their appliances at once.

This place was most likely tidied up recently and then rented out, and Fu Qian had not been living there for long.

Fu Qian speculated on the possible situations as he walked through the open door.

After all, he definitely had to enter the door; otherwise, if he didn’t complete the mission, wouldn’t all his efforts be in vain?

However, at the next moment, he felt weightless, and suddenly the ground beneath his feet gave way, sending his body uncontrollably downward.

The floor had collapsed, and he was falling.

In that instant, Fu Qian’s mind raced to grasp his predicament, and he immediately reached out with both hands to grab onto something.

His hands met empty air, and it was clear that the area of the collapse was large, leaving no place for him to leverage himself.

Realizing this, Fu Qian adjusted his center of gravity and slightly bent his knees.

About a second or so later, a heavy impact came, and Fu Qian thought he heard his knees cry out in distress.

However, thanks to his timely adjustment of posture, despite the strong impact, he did not fall.

But at the same time, a sharp pain spread from his feet.

Fu Qian looked down and discovered that the ground was actually covered with a metal grid, on which there were densely packed spikes.

The spikes were several centimeters long, just enough to pierce through the soles of shoes.

And it was clear that both of his feet had been hit.

Was it really a man-made trap?

Fu Qian narrowed his eyes and looked up at the place he had fallen from.

He had felt it when he was falling.

A normal floor collapse wouldn’t happen so fast, fast enough that even in a state of alertness, he had no time to escape by leveraging himself.

Not to mention that the floor which had fallen first should have cushioned his fall, preventing the spikes from injuring him.

But there wasn’t even a piece of broken floor under his feet.

This was clearly a type of trapdoor mechanism, just waiting for him to step on it!

It was completely out of the question that it happened by accident.

Fu Qian rubbed his temples.

He had indeed underestimated the integrity of this mission!

So the nature of this mission wasn’t about impending danger, pushing him to find a safe place in time, but rather about ensuring he showed up on time for his own demise?

Not following the mission would result in a loss of SAN Points, but following the mission would lead him into a trap and cause him to fall through the floor.

Quite the Furnace indeed!

Fu Qian clicked his tongue in admiration.

And looking at the ceiling’s height, it was almost close to eight meters.

Could it mean they had directly opened up two floors?

That’s not a small project, it seems to have been prepared for quite some time.

[Mission complete, current mission has been updated, find a way to win the game.]

While he was pondering, the prompt in his ear rang out just in time.

The victory in the game? What game?

Fu Qian was alternatively pulling his feet out when he heard this prompt and frowned slightly, seemingly realizing something.

“Hello, I want to play a game with you.”

At that moment, a hoarse male voice suddenly echoed in the dimly lit space.

…

“You are a melancholic high school student. Outstanding grades combined with an attractive appearance, even though many people mock you as a nerd, they still secretly envy you. Of course, you’re well aware of that.”

“You have read extensively and take pride in being different, rejecting the pursuits that your peers are so devoted to.”

“The cheers at the sports field, the glamor of the parties, the attention from the opposite sex—all seem indulgent and animalistic to the youth who aren’t even worthy to be called your kind. You have a rather unique perspective on life itself.”

“You tell yourself that you don’t have those worldly desires and strive for a higher state of transcendence.”

“But are these true? You see yourself as a superhuman, not just a victor among competitors. Is it true pride, or cowardice leading to self-deception?”

“In my view, you are not noble; at least those people you disdain have the courage to confront their own desires, whereas you focus on the spiritual climax brought on by intangible conceptual definitions.”

“You are the most reptilian person in the whole school, squandering your talent through self-hypnosis and committing an irreparable affront to life.”

“I know you don’t agree with me, so today we will have the opportunity to see if you truly are as different as you claim.”

“Those spikes that pierced your body have been specially prepared with poison for you, undoubtedly they have already entered your body and are gradually consuming your life.”

“And before it truly takes effect, you have one hour to fight for a glimmer of hope for yourself.”

“Live or die, make your choice.”

It really was this guy!

Fu Qian rubbed his face and took a long breath.

When he first heard the word “game,” the image of the Chainsaw Maniac’s classic figure flashed through his mind.

The voice just now had come from a speaker on the wall, which seemed to be a recording.

It must have started playing when he fell and triggered a switch.

Both his feet were free now.

Four on the left, five on the right, a total of nine holes.

And, according to the recording, a special poison had already entered his body through these nine wounds and would take his life after one hour.

Fine, this was very much like a Saw trap.

While listening to the recording, Fu Qian had already surveyed his surroundings.

The metal grid he stood on was about five or six square meters, corresponding exactly to the spot where he had fallen, ensuring that he would be spiked no matter the position.

Beyond that, the room was undoubtedly quite spacious.

Apart from the door directly facing him, there was only an old wooden table.

There was nothing visible that could be piled up to climb back up directly.

Considering the height, returning the same way would mean he’d have to learn Zhang Wuji’s gecko scaling technique.

Therefore, his only option was to go through the door opposite him and accept the Saw challenge.

Of course, regarding the accusations in the recording, Fu Qian’s inner reaction was, maybe this wannabe Saw imitator just couldn’t find a better reason?

To think a reclusive, sensitive high school student would be directly defined as desecrating life.

And then come up with such a brutal method to achieve redemption for himself?

That’s overly melodramatic for someone with second year syndrome!

Fu Qian sighed internally as he carefully walked across the spiked net.

Although the spikes were sharp, they weren’t enough to pierce through his shoes on a steady contact, so as long as he kept an appropriate speed, he didn’t have to worry about getting injured again.

On the contrary, if he panicked and tried to jump out, he would likely experience a double whammy.
