Chapter 1691: Chapter 1693: The Shadow

”This Hundred Treasures Spirit Boat, it’s nothing extraordinary after all. It took so long just to reach the Sacred Temple!”

Suddenly, a voice echoed and a young man was seen stepping down from another Hundred Treasures Spirit Boat.

Without a doubt, this person should be the first on his ship!

Perhaps, the Sacred Temple had already arranged to select the first person from each ship.

It’s just that Ye Luo’s situation is quite special, the selection process hasn’t even begun, yet Ye Luo has already won everyone’s recognition.

Moreover, the time for this Hundred Treasures Spirit Boat was clearly set, otherwise, it wouldn’t be possible for everyone to arrive here at the same time!

What is the purpose of the Sacred Temple arranging things in this way?

The main issue is, bringing together people from the Eighth Region and the Ninth Region, is this really a good idea?

The Eighth Region is the realm of the Spirit Martial Realm, while the Ninth Region, half-step Spirit Martial is the peak.

With such a massive difference in strength, it seems the Sacred Temple has little sincerity.

Then, what is the true intention of the Sacred Temple?

Ye Luo furrowed his brows, pondering in his mind.

Of course, no matter what the Sacred Temple intends, Ye Luo will find out sooner or later.

So for now, Ye Luo was too lazy to ask more, and simply followed the Emissary’s steps into the Sacred Temple.

The Sacred Temple is quite peculiar, it’s built upon a mountain, and instead of a single palace, there are numerous palaces arranged in a spiral fashion, each with a unique style. At this moment, what lay before Ye Luo and the others was the first palace.

Finally, as Ye Luo wondered deeply, another person from the Sacred Temple stepped forward.

”Ladies and gentlemen, not everyone is qualified to ascend to the Sacred Temple. What you see now is the weakest of the twelve sub-temples of the Sacred Temple, and if you wish to reach the true Sacred Temple, you must go through the trials of the twelve sub-temples. Good luck. Whatever trials the twelve sub-temples hold, you’ll have to experience them yourselves!”

With just this one sentence, no further hints were given. These people from the Sacred Temple are indeed arrogant, as were the Holy Envoys who greeted them, and now, even at the Sacred Temple, their treatment remains the same!

It seems that these Princes, Heirs, Princely Heirs, Junior Sect Leaders, and such are utterly insignificant in the eyes of the Sacred Temple.

Not even willing to provide basic guidance, they just left with a message for them to find their own way through the trials, with no one bothering to care for the group any longer.

Many people exchanged glances, unsure of how to proceed, though some did not hesitate and headed towards the twelfth sub-temple.

Among them was Ye Luo.

Although full of questions, Ye Luo felt that, with or without guidance, with or without assistance, the trials would inevitably be there.

Moreover, the Sacred Temple wouldn’t suddenly present a group of Saintesses for marriage, so the outcome is certainly a selection process.

A layer-by-layer selection, leaving only the strongest ones, to gain the chance to truly meet the Saintess and marry her.

Understanding this, Ye Luo certainly didn’t want to think too much; after all, the trials can’t be avoided, so it’s better to face them sooner.

Quickly, Ye Luo stepped into the range of the twelfth sub-temple.

This great hall was not grand, compared to the halls Ye Luo had seen before, truly nothing special, but most eye-catching were those massive piles of stones.

These stones seemed chaotic on their surface, yet one couldn’t shake off the feeling that there was some kind of order, only the crowd couldn’t see it at this moment.

People continued to enter this area.

Initially, no one noticed anything unusual; there was only one path before them, and to proceed, they had to pass through this rocky area.

After all, it was just a hall and couldn’t block the entire mountain top, given their strength, they could easily take a detour.

Yet everyone knew the Holy Envoy’s message was clear; to reach the main temple atop the mountain, one must pass through the twelve sub-temples. Trying to circumvent it?

Even if one could ascend, they would surely be rejected, so no one opted for a shortcut, knowing that trying to cheat could cost them their qualification.

Though the Holy Envoy didn’t say circumventing was forbidden, he didn’t say one could resort to any means either.

And based on the Sacred Temple’s usual manner, circumventing might intentionally be set up as a trap!

Thus, no one chose to take a shortcut and all proceeded towards the twelfth sub-temple.

At first, nothing unusual occurred.

People just followed the path forward.

But then, suddenly, a series of dark shadows appeared, without a word, they attacked everyone present.

These shadows moved extremely fast, and were extraordinarily bizarre, having no fixed form, seemingly mere constructs of energy.

”Watch out!”

A loud yell resounded; people brandished their Magical Treasures, warily eyeing those shadows.

About hundreds of shadows, not too many, yet to get past here, one must break through their blockade.

After their appearance, the shadows did not actively attack, but merely hovered over the only path, clearly showing that to pass, one must first confront these shadows!

What should be done?

Ye Luo furrowed his brows; the strength of these shadows was unknown, only certain that these shadows were Spiritual Body life forms.

Indeed, Spiritual Body lives, not Phantom Beasts, but akin to Xiao Qi, Xiao Ling, the Spiritual Body kind.

From what Ye Luo knew, Spiritual Body life forms must possess special abilities, but what abilities did these shadows wield?

At this moment, most people refrained from action, clearly observing the situation.

Yet several daring individuals proceeded directly forward.

The crowd focused their gaze upon those who led the way, eager to see what tactics the shadows would employ.

However, oddly, those few walked ahead, and the shadows parted, allowing them to pass smoothly.

Could it be, these shadows merely intended to frighten?

”Haha, the Sacred Temple is nothing much after all, let’s go!”

A loud laugh echoed as more people moved forward, evidently feeling relieved after several others passed the shadow blockade without danger.

Yet, as soon as these people walked by, a sudden change erupted!

The shadows suddenly surged forward, causing those individuals to behave frantically; some assaulted each other or fled immediately, all extremely terrified!
