Peerless Divine Doctor

Chapter 1388: Chapter 1388: Rescue or Leave

Of course, what others think, Ye Luo can’t do anything about it, so it’s not his place to judge!

Outside, the sounds of killing continued unabated, but Ye Luo and Yun Liancheng were leisurely chatting away here, seemingly at ease.

But such ease did not last for long.

Along with a thunderous boom, they saw the expressions of the two youngsters watching over them change drastically. They yelled at Ye Luo and Yun Liancheng: ”Get out of here fast! The city’s been breached, and the savages will slaughter wildly. No one can save you; save yourselves!”

What’s happening? Is it time to flee for our lives?

However, the next scene made Ye Luo’s eyes widen, as if the thunderous boom was a signal, one after another, figures swiftly soared into the sky, all hurriedly escaping.

And in the city...

Ye Luo clearly remembered that within Fish City, there were many ordinary people who had not practiced cultivation!

In the absence of high-tech transportation, these ordinary people couldn’t possibly have flying magical treasures.

So, doesn’t that mean those left behind can only wait for death?

Ye Luo suddenly grabbed one of the retreating people from Fish City and asked loudly: ”You’re just running away like this, but what about the people inside Fish City?”

”Ah, what with the times we’re living in, you still care about these things? Quickly run for your life. As for what will happen to them? The savages don’t like to eat those who lack spiritual power in their bodies. So, once they’ve had their fill, they will naturally leave!”

What!

They’ll leave once they’ve had their fill?

What kind of reasoning is that?

Ye Luo was not a person from Fish City, so he couldn’t possibly understand the way the people of Fish City thought. Perhaps in their eyes, sacrificing some ordinary people to preserve the strength of the entire Fish City was the correct choice.

But Ye Luo couldn’t accept it.

Ye Luo turned to look at Yun Liancheng.

Yun Liancheng silently nodded, clearly understanding Ye Luo’s thoughts.

Without hesitation, both of them summoned their Sumeru Honor. Indeed, the Sumeru Honor could serve as proof of their identity as people from the Great Tang Empire, yet both had chosen not to use it until now.

But now, there was no hesitation because they were going to save others!

Two streaks of light sped toward the city at an extremely fast pace, in the opposite direction of everyone else.

Dimly, some people also ran back into the city, clearly not everyone was capable of being so cold-hearted.

As Ye Luo charged into the city, he shouted loudly: ”The savages have breached the walls; everyone, run for your lives!”

Panic spread throughout Fish City.

Originally, Ye Luo thought that by informing the people in the city, they would know to flee for their lives.

Yet, a strange scene unfolded; no one was running away. Regardless of gender, age, or youth, it was as if they had resigned themselves to fate. Apart from the look of worry on their faces, no one was escaping!

”You, don’t you want to live?”

Ye Luo couldn’t understand, nor could he make sense of why the people of Fish City would make such a choice. Since Ye Luo had already informed them, they couldn’t be unaware of what would happen next. So, why wouldn’t they run?

Suddenly, an elder stepped forward and, smiling, said to Ye Luo: ”Young man, you better leave quickly. Don’t worry about us. We can’t escape, and we don’t want to!”

The old man’s smile was filled with bitterness and innocence.

It was clear that it wasn’t that they didn’t want to escape, but that they simply couldn’t!

Indeed, even if the physical condition of ordinary people were outstanding, they simply couldn’t match cultivators, let alone wild people who were even stronger than cultivators?

Even if they could escape, how far could they really get?

Rather than saying they were resigned to their fate, it was more that they had no choice.

Seeing the look of helplessness on these people’s faces, Ye Luo knew that in their hearts, perhaps they also didn’t want to give in, perhaps they also didn’t want to die, but reality left them no room to refuse acceptance.

For some reason, Ye Luo wanted to save these people, at least to save as many as possible.

Perhaps it was because the invaders were of a different race, or perhaps, it was simply because Ye Luo had not yet truly become familiar with the rules of the Martial Realm.

But in the end, Ye Luo made a decision.

”You, go notify the others, everyone, retreat into the Royal Mansion!”

Ye Luo said urgently to those people, leaving not only them puzzled, but also Yun Liancheng, who had come with Ye Luo, looking at him in confusion and even quietly asking Ye Luo.

”What do you want to do?”

Looking at Yun Liancheng, Ye Luo felt that since Yun Liancheng had followed him into the city, it might be because he still had a compassionate heart, so Ye Luo simply said to Yun Liancheng: ”Save people!”

These two simple words left Yun Liancheng shocked.

Save people?

To rescue the people of Fish City? How easily said?

What right do they have to save them?

But for some reason, seeing Ye Luo’s resolute expression, Yun Liancheng found himself unable to refute anything.

Upon further thought, Yun Liancheng realized that both of them had the Sumi Honor in their hands, perhaps even if they couldn’t defeat the enemy, there would be no problem retreating when the time came, so he temporarily agreed with Ye Luo.

The two of them divided the work and quickly went in different directions to inform the people of Fish City to enter the courtyard of the Royal Mansion!

The Royal Mansion, as it turns out, is the City Lord’s Mansion of Fish City.

Perhaps because it is located in the Chaos Region, the Royal Mansion has been turned into a fortress-like existence, protected not only by walls but also by buildings designed for defense, with a clear layout that is easy to defend but hard to attack.

Fish City does not have a protecting Great Array, but this Royal Mansion, after all, has its basic guarding Formation.

After Ye Luo and Yun Liancheng called everyone to retreat to the Royal Mansion, they naturally caught the attention of some Martial Artists in Fish City who had not evacuated.

Those who were still unwilling to evacuate at this time, and who had stayed, undoubtedly did so because their families were in the city.

Therefore, at this moment, most of them chose to join forces with Ye Luo to fend off the enemy.

The Royal Mansion, indeed, is the most suitable place for defense. It wasn’t that no one had thought of this, but no one dared to take the lead.

After all, everyone knew that the wild men could not occupy Fish City for long, and once they retreated, the powerful forces that had withdrawn from Fish City would return. At that time, no matter the reason, the crime of illicitly occupying the Royal Mansion would certainly not be overlooked, hence no one had dared to consider the Royal Mansion as an option.

However, Ye Luo didn’t care about all this. For Ye Luo, as long as he could save people, as long as it would help in this battle, then whether it was occupying the Royal Mansion or any other action, Ye Luo would do it without hesitation!

And once someone took the lead, naturally, the others had nothing to fear anymore.
