Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chen Wen hurried over.

From a high spot, Adam had long spotted Chen Wen. He waved at him: ”Hey! I’m in a bit of a pickle, give me a hand!”

Hearing this, Chen Wen couldn’t help but laugh: ”What’s the trouble? Just come down directly, won’t you?”

Hua Yun, observing the surroundings, couldn’t help but say: ”Coming down directly... You might manage, but we can’t. It’s all exposed rock here, way too steep!”

Chen Wen took a look and nodded lightly.

For Hua Yun and Adam, this place certainly posed a higher difficulty.

”Don’t rush, let me figure out how to handle it first.”

As he spoke, Chen Wen walked around the mountain peak where Adam was situated.

He quickly noticed that this area had experienced a landslide, and it happened recently.

Chen Wen couldn’t help but say: ”Adam, you’re really unlucky. This place should have a downward slope, but maybe a few days ago, a landslide happened here. Tsk tsk, with this landslide, the place has become an isolated island. The whole mountain could collapse soon.”

High up, Adam heard this and couldn’t decide whether to laugh or cry: ”I know, but is now the time to talk about that? Shouldn’t we figure out a way to get me down?”

Chen Wen clicked his tongue, a bit disdainful: ”You need my help to get you down, yet your attitude is like this, tsk, hold on.”

After further inspection of the surroundings, Chen Wen determined a plan to get Adam down: ”Here’s what we’ll do. I have an idea. I remember we have...”

As he spoke, Chen Wen looked at Hua Yun: ”Are you carrying a rope?”

Hua Yun nodded and took a rope out of her backpack.

During the distribution of supplies earlier, Hua Yun took up the set of ropes they selected.

For this survival challenge, Chen Wen and the team chose three types of ropes.

The first type was one of the five basic tools provided by the association, used for binding things and dragging heavy objects, no problem.

But its drawback was that it was a bit short, less than twenty meters, and it couldn’t bear heavy weight.

The second type was a trap rope, strong but thin, not for bearing weight or binding things, only for making traps.

The third type was the set of ropes Hua Yun brought.

This rope was strong, quite long—about forty meters, and rather thick, with a good load-bearing capacity.

It was specifically for rock climbing.

Before coming, Chen Wen had anticipated that they would need to use ropes while gathering supplies, traveling, and climbing some cliffs.

He picked up the rope and looked at the two animals.

The Golden Eagle and Snowy Owl were standing on an open ground not far away.

But compared to the fervent Golden Eagle, the Snowy Owl seemed a bit lethargic.

Chen Wen took a glance and quickly realized the problem.

Was the Snowy Owl feeling a bit down for not helping much?

Chen Wen thought about it and said: ”In a moment, I’ll have my animals take the rope up to you. Once you get the rope, fix it at a secure spot at the top, and then rappel down using it.”

Upon hearing this, Adam nodded: ”Alright! If there’s a rope, I feel assured.”

The Golden Eagle and Snowy Owl, upon hearing this, also perked up.

The Snowy Owl looked expectantly at Chen Wen.

Chen Wen chuckled inwardly, animals are really simple!

All eager to work.

He said: ”I’ll let the Snowy Owl take it up for you, make sure to secure it well!”

Adam nodded: ”No problem!”

Immediately, the Snowy Owl got excited.

It could help at last!

The Golden Eagle, seeing its good buddy’s state, understood its thoughts.

As one of the animals that had spent the most time with Chen Wen, the Golden Eagle’s emotional intelligence was no less than some ordinary humans.’

It didn’t say much but looked encouragingly at its good buddy.

But at this moment, Hua Yun couldn’t help but ask: ”Then, once Adam comes down, what about the rope?”

Right!

Adam also paused.

Chen Wen waved his hand: ”Later, don’t tie a dead knot, just a slip knot. I’ll have the Golden Eagle and Snowy Owl untie it.”

Upon hearing this, Hua Yun and Adam froze.

Can it really be done like this?

Can these two guys actually accomplish such a feat?

Hua Yun and Adam found it hard to believe as they looked at the Golden Eagle and Snowy Owl.

Untying a slip knot sounds simple, but what’s easy for humans is extraordinarily challenging for animals.

Because no animal has hands as nimble as humans, and they’re also unlikely to understand and untie the concept of knots.

Although some animals might learn with training, most animals capable of this are the exceptionally smart types.

Like apes, corvids like parrots and crows, and octopuses, elephants, and some smart dogs.

However, in human perception, the Golden Eagle and Snowy Owl aren’t considered smart animals.

They’re fierce and formidable, but that’s just in terms of combat prowess.

Hua Yun and Adam found it hard to trust in their intelligence.

Seeing their doubtful expressions, Chen Wen waved his hand: ”Don’t worry. Even if they can’t do it, I’ll personally climb up and untie the rope, then climb down again. With me backing you up, what’s there to worry about?”

Hearing this, both of them nodded slightly.

Indeed, just as Chen Wen said.

With him there, their team’s safety net strength was greatly enhanced!

...

Soon enough, with Chen Wen’s assistance, the Snowy Owl grabbed the rope.

Having previously chosen the [Giant Strength] trait, the Snowy Owl naturally had no problem lifting the rope.

It grabbed the rope and flapped its wings, quickly taking it to the top and into Adam’s hands.

Adam looked at the Snowy Owl and sincerely said thank you.

Although he knew the Snowy Owl couldn’t understand, Adam believed in conveying his emotions was enough.

The Snowy Owl seemed to sense Adam’s feelings too.

It tilted its head, landing near Adam.

This was the first time Snowy Owl interacted with Adam so closely.

Adam felt a warm sensation in his heart.

He was invigorated too.

Having been on the ground for so long and not contributing felt out of place for the crucial early stages of survival.

Adam secured the rope to a tree root near the edge of the mountaintop.

This root had been thoroughly checked by Adam, very solid!

Under the watchful eye of the Snowy Owl, Adam tied a slip knot with the rope and then pulled it tight.

”This should do it, right?”

Adam took a deep breath, first securing his supplies to the other end of the rope, then letting the rope down the mountain.

Soon, the rope went taut, and Chen Wen below caught the supplies.

Once all the supplies were down.

Adam didn’t hesitate; he grasped the rope and began rappelling down.

Chen Wen watched Adam’s movements closely from below, advising him on stabilizing tools against various loose rocks.

With Chen Wen’s alerts and the aid of the rope,

Adam descended steadily and speedily down the rock face. Soon, he reached the foot of the mountain, and Chen Wen extended a hand to help Adam onto the ground.

”How is it? Scared?”

Chen Wen chuckled, ”Actually, it gets better once you’re down. Are you feeling less afraid now?”

Hearing Chen Wen’s words, Adam realized that no matter how he answered, it might seem like he was quite scared earlier.

He simply changed the subject: ”Now, how do we get the rope down?”

Hearing this, Chen Wen put aside his joking manner.

He looked at the Golden Eagle, which immediately flew towards the mountaintop.
