Wilderness Survival with Druid System

The perk the little yak calf gave earlier—[Auspicious]—had already made Chen Wen quite satisfied.

But maybe because that previous perk was too satisfying, this time the three gifted perks left Chen Wen a bit helpless.

None of them were the type Chen Wen actually wanted.

Still, when you’re picking among dwarfs, you go for the tallest.

Chen Wen looked for a long time and finally chose a perk that was at least somewhat usable.

[Golden Gleam (Gold): After obtaining this perk, permanently increases the probability of acquiring golden perks. Even after this perk disappears, the increased probability remains. ps: Special perk, it only appears on animals whose bodies show golden traits. After choosing it, certain parts of your body will gradually turn pale gold.]

This perk could increase the chance of getting golden perks.

To be honest, it should count as a good perk.

And when it disappears, the probability doesn’t disappear with it.

So it doesn’t affect future re-selection.

But Chen Wen was long past the stage of auto-picking anything just because it was golden; now he cared more about a perk’s versatility and impact.

Still, choosing this one wasn’t exactly a loss.

After picking the perk, Chen Wen felt it out.

He wanted to know the side effect of choosing this perk—that is, which part of his body had turned pale gold.

But after probing for a while, Chen Wen didn’t feel anything.

Looked like it was going to be a slow transformation process.

Chen Wen thought.

But right at that moment, the Golden Eagle circling near the valley seemed to spot Chen Wen,

and it beat its wings and flew over.

It came to Chen Wen’s side, and after casually glancing at the little yak calf next to him,

the Golden Eagle couldn’t help saying, ”Isn’t that the little calf? How’d it get over here?”

Chen Wen waved his hand and said, ”Same as you, it’s a rather special animal. I’ve unlocked its communication ability—go chat with it.”

Hearing that, the Golden Eagle was suddenly enlightened.

So it was time to welcome a newbie again!

It wasn’t particularly against it, but looking at the little yak calf, the Golden Eagle kept feeling this guy looked a bit too lively.

And the Golden Eagle still preferred those days of going out hunting and freely soaring through the sky.

Staying in the valley to welcome newcomers wasn’t its favorite job.

But anyway, Chen Wen needed help right now, so first help Chen Wen sort out his trouble!

After unlocking the communication ability, Chen Wen let the Golden Eagle and the little yak calf start their interaction.

He himself went straight into the valley.

But before leaving, Chen Wen still sensed the Golden Eagle’s emotional shift.

...

Inside the valley, Vikram was sorting the supplies.

These supplies were just delivered by the reserve staff—not only were there a lot, they were a mixed bunch.

Chen Wen glanced over and saw a ton of fuel and quite a bit of staple food.

All prepared by the reserve side.

Chen Wen took a look and didn’t say much.

In addition, there was some forage in the valley, which should be left for the little yak calf.

Chen Wen looked at it and directly moved the forage near his own tent.

Ever since the Hunting Owl group was completely wiped out,

Chen Wen and Vikram had been living in the valley.

They took over the two tents Hunting Owl had left behind, along with all of Hunting Owl and their crew’s survival supplies.

Now the two of them had zero worries about survival.

They had both already eliminated other contestants and secured advancement.

At the same time, with this huge stockpile of supplies, they weren’t going to get knocked out for lack of clothing or food.

The only way they could be eliminated now was if someone managed to sneak in and take them out.

But...

That would be an insane hell difficulty!

There was no need to talk about Chen Wen and Vikram’s vigilance—they were both max-alert types.

Not to mention the large number of wild animals entrenched around the valley.

The Tibetan Horse Bear had made its home outside the valley, right at the only entrance.

There it was basically a hyper-sensitive motion sensor; as long as any human approached, it could sense danger at once.

And all around the valley lay the horses’ stronghold.

They had built their camp encircling the heart of the valley, forming a defensive ring around Chen Wen.

As for the Snow Leopards, the whole family lived right next to Chen Wen’s tent; here, Chen Wen had used yak hide to make them a simple nest.

These days Chen Wen was planning to reinforce that nest with rocks.

With them stationed here, nobody could silently appear in front of Chen Wen’s shelter.

And then there was the Golden Eagle.

The Golden Eagle roosted on the high point above the tents.

Now that the little yak calf had arrived and been placed in the valley, there was no way outsiders could possibly make it into the valley interior.

Seeing Chen Wen come back, Vikram nodded as a greeting.

But just as Chen Wen thought there was nothing special today and was planning to upgrade the Snow Leopards’ nest,

Vikram said, ”Tomorrow, I’m thinking of going out and having a look around.”

Chen Wen froze for a moment. ”What’s up?”

”Eliminate other contestants.”

As he said this, a money-hungry look appeared on Vikram’s face; he smiled and said, ”You might not care, but me, if I eliminate someone—if it’s a popular contestant, that’s tens of thousands, even hundreds of thousands of US Dollars!”

Hearing this, Chen Wen smiled and said, ”Then I wish you a swift victory. I’ll pass; that money’s not easy to earn.”

Vikram thanked him.

But he went on, ”Thing is, I want to talk cooperation with you.”

Cooperation?

Chen Wen was taken aback for a moment.

Vikram nodded. ”I want to borrow your Golden Eagle, and also borrow a horse. Don’t worry, I won’t have them do anything dangerous—I just want the Golden Eagle to scout the surroundings, and strengthen my mobility a bit.”

After hearing this, Chen Wen didn’t agree right away.

He thought it over—this depended on whether the Golden Eagle was willing.

If the Golden Eagle was willing, then everything was negotiable; but if the Golden Eagle wasn’t, no matter what Vikram said, Chen Wen wouldn’t agree.

Still, Chen Wen figured the Golden Eagle was quite likely to agree.

After all, he’d already noticed before that the Golden Eagle seemed to enjoy going out for free-range activity.

Borrowing a horse was no big deal either.

Chen Wen had already lent Vikram a horse before; that horse had gone out and run around with Vikram for a while, so they were somewhat familiar now.

Once he’d thought it through, Chen Wen explained to Vikram, ”You can borrow a horse, but the Golden Eagle—that’s up to the Golden Eagle itself. Depends if you two are fated to team up.”

Hearing this, Vikram nodded.

Made sense.

It really depended on the Golden Eagle’s attitude.

If the Golden Eagle wasn’t willing to act with him, then there was no way he could get it to help him track others.

So Vikram looked expectantly at the Golden Eagle that had just walked in, and at...

”Wang Defa!”

Vikram couldn’t help cursing; he stared in shock at the little yak calf walking in. ”How’d you talk it into coming over?”

Although in international mainstream circles, golden-haired wild yak are regarded as a color variant of wild yak, in some countries around the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, they treat them as truly distinct animals.

So when he saw this thing, Vikram was instantly incredulous.

Even something this rare, you can manage to bring over?
