The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 1242: Chapter 465: Palace Schemes Are No Match for Rebellion (Part 2)

”Mother, I don’t want to marry a daughter of the Wang Family!” This was a young man’s voice, carrying a bit of childishness.

”Why? Do you know, Wang Shijiu is born into the Langya Wang Family, the legitimate daughter of a thousand-year-old family; her grandfather is a Minister with important duties, and her father is also a key Minister in the court!” The woman’s voice was calm yet full of authority.

”Marrying her will get you the noble family’s support, and you can swiftly take over the reign!”

”...I know! I know all this. But, Mother, can you not always talk about politics? Have you ever thought about your son’s personal happiness?” The young man’s tone grew sad and indignant.

He seemed to recall some sorrowful matter, feeling even more that his mother, who sat at a high position, was cold, authoritarian, and full of calculation.

”...” The woman heard her son’s question, amused yet annoyed, ”Happiness?”

Born in the Royal Family, enjoying lavish clothes and food, surrounded by attendants, is that not happiness?

As if understanding the underlying meaning of the woman’s words, the young man grew more indignant, ”Mother, eating and drinking well does not mean happiness. I want a soulmate, I want the warmth of a normal family!”

He deliberately emphasized the pronunciation of ”normal.”

Implying, his current family is not normal.

These words, devoid of harsh tones or malicious language.

Yet, they were like a thorn, piercing deeply into the woman’s heart.

She finally realized that between her and her son, without knowing when, they had become strangers.

Clearly the closest mother and son in the world, yet her son, is complaining about her, even hating her!

Hate her for what?

Hate her for not being able to take care of him like a normal mother would, hate her for always pushing him to advance, pushing him to restrain himself, hate her...

An image flashed in the woman’s mind, and her heart was pierced again with deep pain.

She was indeed forceful and had indeed neglected caring for her son, but she had no choice.

In the Royal Family, enjoying wealth and honor, also comes with too many restrictions and constraints.

She also wanted to be a mother with no desires, only knowing to cherish her son.

But the cruel reality forced her, she couldn’t do it!

If she doesn’t strive, doesn’t fight, not to mention the high position, even their survival in the harem would be a problem.

Living reluctantly would also be like ants being trampled.

The woman’s pride prevented her from accepting this.

She did not want her own flesh and blood to suffer grievances.

For herself, for her son, she had to grit her teeth and charge forward!

She won, she finally pushed her son onto that Dragon Throne.

And the result? Her son not only doesn’t appreciate it but blames her for not providing him a ”normal” family!

Haha, what normal family?

Must it be like that bitch—

Thinking about ”that bitch,” the woman’s dignified and graceful face was instantly covered with frost.

Her heart ached sharply, and the woman was caught off guard by this sudden intense pain, resentment making her faint.

”Empress Dowager!”

”Empress Dowager, are you okay?”

”...Mo, mother?!”

The woman slumped softly onto the couch, fully unaware of the chaos unfolding after she fainted.

...

After a good half-day, the woman slowly opened her eyes, and the first sight was layers of luxurious curtains.

She had just made a slight sound when someone hastily lifted the bed curtains, revealing a concerned round face.

This was Nanny Song, the most trusted person by her side.

Growing up together since childhood, accompanying her in marriage, and then into the palace, deciding twenty years ago not to marry again, always serving her.

”Miss, finally, you’re awake!”

Nanny Song was so moved to tears seeing the woman awake.

In a moment of urgency, she forgot the honorifics, reverting to the early appellation out of habit.

”Mm!” The woman softly responded.

The voice was still tinged with some exhaustion and weakness.

Hearing this faint voice from the girl who had always been strong, Nanny Song’s heart ached.

”How do you feel? Is there any discomfort? Shall I, shall I summon the Imperial Physician?”

Nanny Song’s concern and urgency prompted her to ask a series of questions.

The woman gently shook her head, her eyes scanning around, seemingly looking for someone.

Nanny Song noticed the woman’s small actions, feeling pity again, and quickly said: ”His Majesty was just by the couch all the time, but seeing the late hour, I worried for His Majesty’s health, so, I—

The woman waved her hand, interrupting Nanny Song’s ”kind lie.”

”Enough, you don’t need to cover for him. Humph, my son, how could I not know him?”
