My Silly, Sweet Wife

”Mr. Ye, who are those people?” Wu Caijun hurriedly approached Ye Guichen as he watched Lao Qi walk away, placing his luggage down and asking in a low voice.

Ye Guichen shook his head, indicating that he didn’t know, then pointed at the package: ”Let’s eat something.”

”Alright!” Wu Caijun didn’t ask further, promised, and quickly took out the food and water he had prepared, handing it to Ye Guichen first before starting to eat slowly himself.

On the other side, those people noticed that Ye Guichen and Wu Caijun had no intention of leaving, occasionally glancing at them without hindering them.

However, the woman surrounded in the center frowned and asked the man dressed as a hunter softly, ”Brother Ma, we should be close to the place you mentioned, right?”

This man was named Ma Xiangqian, and he lived at the foot of Qi Mountain and often went hunting in the mountains.

In recent years, as the outskirts of Qi Mountain were increasingly developed, he had to venture deeper into the mountains.

By chance, he entered Snake Head Mountain one day, found a piece of Jade Pendant, and then took it to sell in Wannian Chang of Yun City.

This wasn’t a secret. Although Ma Xiangqian didn’t reveal his identity to Li Huairen of Wannian Chang at the time or say much, it wasn’t hard for those with intentions to find out.

This woman was one of those intentions.

The woman’s name was Luo Qianqi, the daughter of the Luo Family in neighboring Wenzhou Province. Though she was already in her thirties, she remained unmarried, and it looked like she was prepared to remain single for life.

Nowadays, although the Luo Family was considered a big family in Wenzhou Province, they were extremely cash-strapped recently. If things didn’t improve, the Luo Family might decline to a third-tier family.

Therefore, upon hearing news of a tomb here, Luo Qianqi brought people and hired Ma Xiangqian as a guide for a substantial fee, intending to explore the tomb.

She was beautiful and had a great demeanor. Originally, Ma Xiangqian didn’t want to get involved in such matters, but he couldn’t resist Luo Qianqi’s mix of gentle persuasion and coercion.

Seeing Luo Qianqi asking him, Ma Xiangqian hurriedly replied: ”Miss Luo, since we are in the deep mountains, there’s often fog. I found that Jade Pendant by chance last time, so I’m not very clear about the exact location now. But judging by the route, we should be about ten miles away.”

”Alright, let’s rest for a bit and then continue.” Luo Qianqi nodded and looked at the old man beside her: ”Mr. Fan, what do you think?”

As she spoke, Luo Qianqi also motioned towards Ye Guichen and Wu Caijun, obviously asking the old man what he thought of them.

The old man was named Fan Zhidong, a genuine martial arts grandmaster. Despite being sixty-seven, he could easily handle a dozen or so people barehanded.

Because of this, Luo Qianqi held great respect for Fan Zhidong.

Fan Zhidong glanced at Ye Guichen and Wu Caijun, showing a look of disdain as he said lightly: ”Not worthy of fear. That young man looks ordinary, but that middle-aged man feels a bit eerie. If I’m not mistaken, they are probably here for the tomb as well.”

”Ah?” Luo Qianqi was startled and quickly asked, ”What should we do then?”

”Ha, with just them, whether they can find the tomb is still a question.” Fan Zhidong shook his head slowly and closed his eyes, saying no more.

Luo Qianqi felt reassured upon hearing this.

If Fan Zhidong said there was no problem, then there really should be no problem.

If the tomb could be found, even a small amount of treasure would at least resolve the current crisis for the Luo Family.

Half an hour later, Luo Qianqi’s group had finished eating and was preparing to leave.

Ye Guichen had also almost finished eating.

”Mr. Ye, should we continue resting?” Wu Caijun asked quickly, seeing that Luo Qianqi’s group was about to leave.

Ye Guichen looked at the sky, already turning dusky, then glanced east: ”I’m afraid it’s not so easy to leave.”

”Hmm?” Wu Caijun was startled and quickly looked in the direction Ye Guichen was looking but found nothing unusual. Doubtfully, he asked, ”Mr. Ye, is someone else coming?”

”This time, it’s not people, but beasts.”

”Beasts?” Wu Caijun tensed up immediately, drawing out his Wolf Fang Club to guard in front of Ye Guichen.

Originally, Luo Qianqi’s group was about to leave, but when they saw Wu Caijun’s movements, they thought he was coming at them. Just as they were about to shout, Fan Zhidong’s expression suddenly changed: ”Something’s here, prepare for defense!”

The bodyguards were well-trained and, after hesitating for only a moment, immediately unloaded their gear from their backs, picked up machetes, and surrounded Luo Qianqi in the center.

Luo Qianqi nervously asked, ”Mr. Fan, what’s going on?”

Before Fan Zhidong could answer, a wolf howled from the east: ”Awooo...”

”There are wolves!” Luo Qianqi, a wealthy young lady, had never seen real wolves despite her wealth.

Before the wolf howl fell silent, dozens of shadows appeared one after another, encircling Luo Qianqi’s group and Ye Guichen and Wu Caijun in the blink of an eye.

The wild wolves didn’t rush forward immediately, showing their ferocious teeth and growling lowly, as if testing their enemy. If Luo Qianqi’s group showed fear, the wolves would attack.

Wu Caijun’s face turned pale at the sight of the wild wolves.

Looking closely, there were thirteen wolves, each of considerable size.

”Mr. Ye, w-what do we do?” Wu Caijun stuttered, totally unprepared for such bad luck to encounter so many wolves and scared, his voice shaking.

Ye Guichen remained unconcerned, clasping his hands towards Luo Qianqi: ”Beautiful lady, these wolves clearly see us as easy prey. How about we work together?”

”Work together? Ha, kid, you’re looking for protection, huh?” Before Luo Qianqi could respond, Lao Qi mocked: ”I warned you before to leave quickly, or you won’t even have a corpse left. Who knew it would come true so soon, you’re on your own!”

After speaking, Lao Qi ordered sternly: ”Everyone, don’t act rashly. Protect the young lady and don’t act alone.”

”Understood!” The bodyguards clearly were skilled and trained. Though they saw the wolves, they didn’t panic. Upon hearing Lao Qi’s order, they stepped back a few steps, tightening the encirclement.

It formed a fortress, prepared to fend off the wolves if they dared come closer.

The wolves seemed to sense that Luo Qianqi’s group was not to be trifled with, glancing at them but then turning their attention to Ye Guichen and Wu Caijun, edging closer.

Soon, the wolves completely surrounded Ye Guichen and Wu Caijun, abandoning Luo Qianqi’s group.

Wu Caijun was so frightened, he wet himself.

These wolves really knew to bully the weak.

They saw fewer people here and decided to eat them first.

”Mr. Ye, th-this…” Wu Caijun felt his legs go weak. He had seen many corpses in his tomb-raiding days and wasn’t afraid of killing, but he never imagined being bitten to death, even eaten by wolves.
