92: Use your mind in three waysChapter 93: Mind Dividing into Three Uses

”It’s done! Mental Energy in the State of Clarity is fucking incredible!”

Lin Jingyu was ecstatic, nearly jumping for joy. An indescribable sense of satisfaction surged straight to his crown, feeling even more refreshing than chugging a whole bucket of iced plum syrup during the dog days of summer!

The fact that those two ”Secret Technique Blades” condensed from pure Mental Energy could perform such a sharp and precise, near-impossible split was all thanks to the Heaven-Defying Foundation laid by the State of Clarity!

He felt a lingering fear just thinking about it; if his Mental Energy had still been as murky and cluttered as before, he likely wouldn’t have even been able to condense the Secret Technique Blades.

Just the excruciating pain during the split—as if his Soul were being sliced by a thousand blades and repeatedly deep-fried in a vat of oil—would have been enough to break his mind, turning him into a drooling idiot on the spot!

The bloody warnings in the secret technique—”proceed with extreme caution,” ”extremely prone to backlash,” ”do not attempt unless your willpower is rock-solid”—

Were definitely not just words of advice.

Every cut of Mental Energy was like taking a knife to his own Soul; the slightest slip-up would mean eternal damnation.

That kind of bone-deep pain that struck directly at the Soul was something ordinary people simply could not endure!

With the split successful, the two Secret Technique Blades that had performed such a great service didn’t stay idle; Lin Jingyu immediately used them as ”mental excavators.”

They circled the three newly formed small mental lakes, working away industriously and diligently without complaint.

Deepening the lake beds, widening the waters, reinforcing the banks... they guided the remaining trickles of Mental Energy to be evenly distributed into the lakes.

Lin Jingyu controlled them with extreme care, striving to stabilize these three nascent lakes as quickly as possible, forming small cycles that operated independently yet remained faintly connected.

This process was tedious and long, with waves of mental exhaustion crashing over him like a tide, but he gritted his teeth and persisted, not daring to slacken for a moment.

This concerned his future Foundation; there was no room for even the slightest carelessness!

After an unknown amount of time—perhaps the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, perhaps an hour—three small mental lakes of similar size and depth, radiating a warm and clear light like sapphires, took firm root in the deepest part of his Sea of Consciousness.

The lake surfaces were calm and without ripples, yet they seemed to contain a vibrant vitality within.

The two Secret Technique Blades hovered quietly above the three small lakes.

They released even stronger pulses than before, hammering and refining the Mental Energy below.

In turn, the Mental Energy was also nourishing the Secret Technique Blades.

They formed a perfectly flawless cycle.

”Phew... it’s done! Is this the feeling of Mind Dividing into Three Uses?”

Lin Jingyu let out a long, deep breath of turbid air, as if expelling all the tension and fatigue from his chest.

He carefully felt the three independent streams of Mental Energy in his mind, flowing like gurgling springs, yet harmonious and unified, echoing each other.

The corners of his mouth curled up uncontrollably into a wide, slightly silly grin. A massive, indescribable sense of achievement erupted through his body like a volcano!

He knew he had finally crossed the most critical and toughest hurdle to becoming a Trainee Alchemist!

On this long march of ten thousand miles, he had finally taken the most solid first step!

The door to being an Alchemist had already been pried open by a crack for him!

The excitement went to his head like strong wine, making him feel a bit lightheaded. But soon, he calmed down and began to carefully experience the specific changes brought by this ”one-into-three” split.

The most direct feeling was that the ”capacity” and ”depth” of each small lake could not compare to the vast lake from before the split.

The power was dispersed; the total amount had not increased, but the form had undergone a world-shaking change. It was like pouring a large cup of water into three small cups; each cup was shallower.

”It’s fine. You have to eat one bite at a time and walk the path one step at a time.”

Lin Jingyu maintained a very level-headed mindset. He had a clear understanding of himself.

With the continuous practice of the Spirit Refining Art, these small lakes would naturally widen and deepen. Coupled with the increase in his cultivation, the total amount of Mental Energy would also rise accordingly.

Surpassing his Peak state from before the split was merely a matter of time. He was full of confidence in the future.

At that moment, a spark suddenly bloomed in the depths of his mind.

It was like a dying ember that could be extinguished at any moment, yet also like a shining star in the sky.

It squeezed its way into the Sea of Consciousness and landed in the center of the three small lakes.

At a glance, it looked as if the three lakes were constantly orbiting that small spark.

”What is this thing?”

Lin Jingyu was stunned for a moment.

He then recalled that when he first entered that mysterious Ancient Stone Tablet space, his Mental Energy had been burned into the State of Clarity by that Fire Dragon.

This spark had appeared afterward.

Later on, he hadn’t been able to sense it at all and had originally thought it was an illusion.

But now, it had appeared abruptly.

He tried to move it with his intent, but it didn’t budge at all.

He simply decided to ignore it; in any case, it probably wasn’t anything bad.

Lin Jingyu opened his eyes, filled with satisfaction.

”Unless I hit another Heaven-Defying Opportunity that takes my Mental Energy to the next level, I’m never doing a second split, even if it kills me!”

This success was entirely built on the Heaven-Defying springboard of the State of Clarity and the solid Foundation of the lantern fruit’s near-masochistic enhancement!

The difficulty was already absurd. Doing it again? The difficulty would likely skyrocket dozens of times over!

Just thinking about the pain of his Soul tearing made him shudder. How many lives did he, Lin Jingyu, have to squander like that?

He wasn’t some once-in-a-millennium, Luck-blessed peerless Prodigy; he was just a low-level Cultivator with average Aptitude who had stumbled upon some dog-shit Luck.

To successfully split once was already a blessing from his ancestors and a gift from the heavens, giving him a high starting point far beyond that of ordinary people.

One must be content. Too greedy? Beware of the greedy snake trying to swallow an elephant, only to be struck by lightning in the end!

Lin Jingyu couldn’t wait to start testing the marvelous abilities brought by this ”one-into-three” split.

An unprecedented feeling of refreshment, as if all his meridians had been cleared, instantly swept through his body!

He felt as if he truly possessed three independent ”thinking cores.”

Although they were essentially still part of the same consciousness, the feeling of them operating clearly, efficiently, and in parallel was absolutely exhilarating!

It was like a single CPU driving three graphics cards.

Drawing a regular circle with the left hand and a standard square with the right was just an Entry-Level trick for kindergarteners!

He could now hold a brush in his left hand to write a piece of wild, unrestrained Cursive Script; use his right hand to simultaneously hold charcoal and precisely Sketch a lifelike portrait; and even use his mouth to perform a rhythmic and clear Menu Recitation monologue.

Performing three tasks at once was smooth and fluid, without any sense of lag, and they could even complement each other.

For instance, while his mouth announced ”Steamed Lamb,” his left hand could swiftly write down the recipe for it.

And on the Sketch paper in his right hand, he could outline the shape of a plate of ”Steamed Lamb”!
