”Prince... Husband, aren’t we supposed to unveil the headscarf first?”

Not understanding, Cao Xiyue voiced her confusion.

”Yes, we should unveil it first, I was just too eager...”

It was mainly awkward with Han Jingyun, so entering Cao Xiyue’s bridal chamber, Chen Mo was a little impatient.

Upon hearing this, Cao Xiyue blushed, feeling a bit inexplicably pleased; it seemed she still attracted him. She slightly raised her head and whispered, ”But Husband, if you don’t unveil it, you won’t... won’t see my face.”

”It’s more thrilling with the face covered.” Chen Mo blurted out instinctively.

Cao Xiyue was stunned, then became a little flustered, but her body and mind were already surrendered, she didn’t resist, and instead said, ”Since Husband likes it, then... then let’s...”

The latter part became almost inaudible.

Seeing she was a virgin, Chen Mo decided not to engage in unnecessary diversions, but followed the procedure, turning to pick up the golden weighing rod from the table to gently lift Cao Xiyue’s red headscarf.

As the headscarf was slowly lifted, what appeared first were luscious lips and a high-bridged nose, then a pair of clear, pure eyes with a hint of scholarly air, shy and bashful. Since it was her wedding, and she was now an ”adult,” her makeup was somewhat heavy, adding a touch of maturity.

Chen Mo watched intently, examining carefully.

Cao Xiyue, deeply in love, couldn’t withstand the uninhibited gaze of her beloved, her eyes turning into spring water. Eventually, she couldn’t resist anymore, she raised her hands to cover her face: ”Husband, you... you stop looking, so ugly...”

”Not ugly, where is it ugly? In my eyes, you are the most beautiful.” Chen Mo spoke effortlessly, then turned to fetch the nuptial wine, handing it to Cao Xiyue.

Cao Xiyue felt as though she heard the most beautiful love words in the world, wanting nothing more than to give her heart and soul to Chen Mo.

After drinking the nuptial wine, Cao Xiyue, eyes hazy with charm, hooked her arms around Chen Mo’s neck, lightly pursing her red lips, glowing under the candlelight like dazzling rubies. Chen Mo lifted her chin, smiling as he said, ”In this scene, I’d like to compose a poem.”

Cao Xiyue’s eyes flickered, not expecting her husband to be in such high spirits, she also became interested, pricking up her ears to listen.

Chen Mo then began: ”Borrow the beauty to add to the moonlight, happily encounter a spring night turned into spring eve.”

The original poem spoke of an autumn night.

The implication being that autumn’s moonlight is the most beautiful in the year, and her beauty adds more allure to that autumn moonlight.

It’s spring now, so Chen Mo replaced it with a spring night.

Especially the ending ”spring eve” suited the present scene perfectly.

The poem’s meaning wasn’t hard to understand, being a female scholar, Cao Xiyue repeated it a few times and grasped the deeper meaning, feeling as though her heart had bloomed.

Without Chen Mo’s initiative, she tightly embraced Chen Mo’s neck and leaned in for a kiss.

No one dislikes being told they are beautiful, especially when the one saying it is a beloved man, and the way he compliments is filled with profound meaning and romance.

At this moment, Chen Mo transformed into a flawless man in her heart.

Cao Xiyue’s kiss, though inexperienced, was filled with passion, her body and emotions merging perfectly, wanting nothing more than to meld into Chen Mo.

As they kissed, they fell onto the bed, and naturally, everything followed.

...

...

”I... can’t face anyone anymore.”

Afterward, Cao Xiyue curled up in a corner of the bed, holding her knees, burying her face in them, wishing she could die on the spot.

Such a beautiful scene, and she actually wet the bed.

She’s already so old, yet still worse than a child, wetting the bed.

And right in front of Chen Mo.

Cao Xiyue was so embarrassed she wished she could die.

Chen Mo was also wide-eyed; he knew Cao Xiyue hadn’t wet the bed, but this sort of thing, he was too embarrassed to say out loud. So he simply tossed the wet blanket off the bed, pulled Cao Xiyue into his arms, and comforted her, saying it was okay, it was normal...

Cao Xiyue obviously didn’t believe him, raising her head to ask: ”Did the Wan Kingdom princess also... wet the bed on her wedding night?”

Chen Mo: ”...”

”Well, different people have different constitutions.”

”Liar.” Cao Xiyue didn’t believe Chen Mo’s explanation, feeling very sad inside, fearing that Chen Mo would abandon her, she said, ”Husband... will you dislike me in the future and not want me? I’m so grown up, and yet... yet, I don’t want to live anymore...”

As she said this, she tried to break free from Chen Mo, wanting to bash her head against the wall, but was stopped by Chen Mo, who quietly said: ”How could I? How could I dislike you, let alone not want you; we’ve been married, you’re my bride now, what husband would dislike his own bride.”

”Re... really?”

”Truer than true gold. If you don’t believe me, I’ll swear to you.” Chen Mo became serious, then declared: ”If I, Chen Mo, ever dislike Cao Xiyue, or don’t want Cao Xiyue, may the heavens strike me...”

Cao Xiyue hurriedly covered Chen Mo’s mouth with her hand, saying: ”No, I believe you...”

Cao Xiyue didn’t want Chen Mo to make a deadly vow, even if he truly didn’t want her anymore, she didn’t wish for him to suffer any harm.

”Then promise me you’ll be okay.” Chen Mo said.

”Okay.” Cao Xiyue nodded lightly.

Chen Mo got up and dressed, saying: ”I’ll go ask Chun Lan to bring some hot water...”

”No.” Cao Xiyue stopped Chen Mo, saying: ”Husband, please, I don’t want others to know... about this, I hope you’ll keep it a secret for me, don’t... don’t tell anyone.”

Chen Mo was taken aback, then said: ”Alright, I won’t say, definitely won’t say anything.”

”How about this, I’ll fetch some hot water for you myself.”

”Sorry to trouble... you, Husband.” Cao Xiyue nodded lightly.

”We’re husband and wife, what’s there to trouble about?”

Chen Mo first carried a bath barrel over, then fetched hot water, and brought a new blanket, and when he saw Cao Xiyue still washing, he simply joined her for a soaking bath together.

”I’m leaving.” After tidying everything up, Chen Mo looked at Cao Xiyue, lying on the bed watching him, and smiled lightly.

Cao Xiyue hurriedly closed her eyes, pulled the blanket up, covering her head, and then softly replied with an ”Mm.”

...

By the third watch, it was already late at night; both the front hall and the inner courtyard had quieted down, and as time passed near Wanqiu’s room, a black shadow leapt across the roof. Chen Mo looked up and saw an orange cat carrying a fish leaping over the window into the room.

”This little thief cat...” Chen Mo was stunned for a moment, then smiled and muttered, thinking: ”Looks like I’ll need Xiaojiu to keep an eye on it.”

Without lingering, he headed towards Qi Nichang’s bridal chamber.

Outside the bridal chamber was quiet, the big red lanterns hanging under the eaves gently swayed in the breeze.

Qi Nichang’s personal maid sat at the door, her head resting on her hand on her knee; just as Chen Mo was passing by, her head slipped from her hand, and the maid woke up startled, looking up to find Chen Mo right beside her, which gave her a big fright.

”Prince... Prince.”
