Reborn Divine Doctor: The Abandoned Girl's Legend

Chapter 1338: Chapter 398: The Promise at Sixteen

The sound of silvery bells rings in my ears, it’s the laughter unique to young girls, falling into everyone’s ears, so carefree and lighthearted.

The black sea water has disappeared, and the Resentful Qi is nowhere to be seen.

The sea breeze caresses the face, the vast Moli Sea, the broad sky, and the sea are half blue, looking out in the distance, heavens and sand gulls, the sea and sky are the same hue.

The laughter comes from behind everyone.

Everyone turns to see a ship emerging ahead.

It is a ship sailing on the Moli Sea, not small in scale, clearly a common offshore fishing boat in the Moli Sea area.

On the fishing boat, several fishermen, burned black and red by the sun, are pulling in the nets.

Fresh fish and shrimp leap out of the nets, a scene of bountiful harvest.

Yet on the same fishing boat, two young girls appear out of place, both standing at the bow, gazing ahead.

One of the girls, dressed in an apricot martial robe, has two thick black braids flying freely in the sea breeze, and a Jade Pendant hangs on her chest, carved with indistinct patterns.

The girl has a very clear face, about eleven or twelve years old, her appearance bears a seven or eight-part resemblance to Luo Qianche.

”Miss Qixue, if we sneak out like this and the City Lord finds out, we will be severely punished.” Behind the apricot-robed girl, a maid-like girl anxiously says.

”Was that mother when she was young?”

Luo Qianche was stunned, what’s going on, where exactly is she?

”Little Huan, you worry too much. Father is busy inspecting Yuliao Town this time, how could he have the time to care about me? Everyone says Shui City is great, but I think the Moli Sea is a thousand times better than Shui City.” The girl Luo Qixue couldn’t help but spread her arms open, welcoming the sea breeze, taking a deep breath.

She is the Young City Lord of Shui City and has always heard from people at the City Lord’s Mansion that she is of the Water God Bloodline.

But she finds it very uninteresting, being of the Water God’s lineage, she has only seen the Water God Waterfall, not even the capital.

So this time, she pestered her father, borrowing this inspection opportunity, to hire a ship to go out to sea.

The salty sea breeze and the boundless sea is a brand new experience for her.

Just then, the ship jolts violently as if it has struck a reef.

”What’s all the commotion down there, Little Huan, let’s go take a look.”

Luo Qixue follows the ship’s railing down, turns out the fishermen on the boat have caught a fish.

”Ha~ A miss from the city, this is a big fish, I reckon it weighs at least seventy or eighty pounds, tonight we’ll feast on a whole fish banquet.” The fishermen are pulling up the net, the net made of Hundred Refinement Steel indeed entangled a big fish.

The big fish is blue-green all over, its scales snagged on the net, blood everywhere.

Luo Qixue notices that the big fish has a pair of blue eyes, this is completely different from the fish she has seen before.

Just one glance, and Luo Qixue feels a slight stir in her heart, those eyes held an indescribable sorrow, making it seem that it was not just a fish.

”Wait, I want this fish.”

And so Luo Qixue, as if fatefully, buys that big fish.

Seeing the fish’s severe injuries, Luo Qixue immediately decides to head back, along with Little Huan, they secretly transport the human-sized big fish back to her residence.

”Little Huan, go fetch all my best wound medicine, and also, you must not tell anyone about me hiding this fish.”

Luo Qixue carefully instructs her personal maid.

Due to her Water God Bloodline, Luo Qixue has always been very close to various aquatic Living Spirits since childhood.

But never has any Water Beast captured her so.

That night she hides in her room to tend to the big fish’s wounds.

Not until around dawn does the big fish’s bleeding stop.

”Fish, oh fish, your wounds have healed about seventy to eighty percent, today I’ll release you back into the Moli Sea, remember, don’t be so clumsy next time.”

Luo Qixue grumblingly speaks to the fish.

In the big fish’s eyes, a trace of strange color flickers.

”Tha... Thank you.”

Upon hearing the fish suddenly speak, Luo Qixue’s pretty face turns white, she jumps up, pointing at the big fish.

”You, you’re a Fish Demon!”

The big fish hurriedly explains.

”I’m not a Fish Demon, I’m a young Merfolk, Mo Ze, living in the Moli Sea Domain, wounded due to an Alien Race invasion, accidentally captured by fishermen.”

”Merfolk? The legendary half-human, half-fish who can become a Demigod Beast? But how can you look so ugly? Isn’t the Merfolk Tribe known for being handsome men and beautiful women with enchanting appearances?”

Eleven or twelve-year-old Luo Qixue’s head is still filled with girlish thoughts.

She has heard tales of the Merfolk King, but it’s her first time seeing an actual Merfolk.

”I’m not ugly, I’m just not yet of age. In the Merfolk Tribe, boys and girls only morph after inheriting Merfolk Divine Power at sixteen, after coming of age. I’m just twelve, in four years, once I come of age and return to the Moli Sea to reclaim the Merfolk Tribe, I will morph.”

The big fish is somewhat aggrieved.

”I see, so right now you are without a home, that’s so pitiful.”

Faced with Mo Li, Luo Qixue is both curious and sympathetic, deciding against releasing Mo Ze.

She knows that now even if Mo Li returns to the Moli Sea, there might not be a chance of survival.

Thus, Luo Qixue secretly brings Mo Ze back to Shui City.

In Shui City, Luo Qixue hides Mo Ze beneath the Water God Waterfall, visiting him secretly every morning and dusk under the guise of Cultivation.

Luo Qixue shares with Mo Ze aspects of Shui City and Human Clan customs and culture, while Mo Ze tells her about things in the Moli Sea.

The hearts of the young pair unknowingly indulged alongside each other for more than three years.

Emotions silently burgeon between them.

These emotions transcend appearance and race.

Yet neither of them expresses it, knowing that one day, both Mo Ze and Luo Qixue understand Mo Ze will leave Shui City to return to the Moli Sea.

That day, eventually, arrives.

Three and a half years later, six months before Mo Ze’s coming of age at sixteen, Mo Ze decides to return to the Moli Sea.

Under the Water God Waterfall, Mo Ze difficultly informs Luo Qixue of his decision.

”Mo Ze, you must return. On the day I turn sixteen, on the Water God Festival, will you come back... please?”

As Mo Ze leaps into the canal, Luo Qixue blurts out.

Her eyes are already misty.

Mo Ze’s fish body churns in the water; he leaps out, his beautiful scales glistening under the Moonlight.

”Qixue, I promise you, I will return.”

Watching Mo Ze’s silhouette vanish into the canal, Luo Qixue’s tears finally fall.

”Mo Ze, I’ll wait for you to return, when you return, I’ll marry you.”
