Chapter 1583: Chapter 49: Undead and Resurrection

In the cubicle on the inner side of the library, Su Xiao was frowning, lost in thought. He already understood the Death Land and the Mo Yi Family, and his target was clear: find Mo Yi·Nora. As long as he found her, the Death Land wouldn’t be far.

However, the records on Mo Yi·Nora made his brows knit even tighter. The Mo Yi Family’s files clearly stated that to kill Mo Yi·Nora, Misfortune had to be killed at the same time.

Of the Mo Yi Family’s three direct-line members, only two remained now. Moris had never mentioned she was from the Mo Yi Family from beginning to end, but she was definitely closely tied to the Death Land. As the family’s second daughter, the heirloom that had once been in her hands absolutely couldn’t be ignored.

According to Meilodi’s description, that heirloom was a strangely shaped dagger. Rather than calling it a weapon, it actually looked more like an ornament.

When Meilodi first got that heirloom, she instinctively assumed it was some powerful weapon. But after studying it for a while, she discovered that not to mention using it in battle, it would take quite a bit of strength just to stab an ordinary person to death with it. That left her very disappointed. She was just about to sell off this hot potato when someone stole it.

Her own belongings stolen, the deceit-savvy Meilodi of course couldn’t swallow that. After some digging around, she learned that thing had already drifted down to the southern part.

Meilodi knew full well the relationship between Moris and Mo Yi·Nora, so she immediately thought that Mo Yi·Nora had sent someone to reclaim that dagger. She could only give up helplessly—risking her life for something whose function was unknown wasn’t worth it.

Compared to the Mo Yi Family heirloom, Su Xiao cared more about the two sisters, Mo Yi·Nora and Misfortune. According to reliable intelligence, to kill Mo Yi·Nora, Misfortune had to be killed first.

When he saw this intel, Su Xiao immediately thought of the Fifth Stage White Witch. But Mo Yi·Nora was an Elemental Witch, said to wield one of the highest-damage abilities among the elemental series, while Misfortune was from the Curse System. The two of them couldn’t possibly have a relationship of avatar and true body that allowed mutual resurrection. These two had nothing to do with the White Witch.

There was another piece of information that caught Su Xiao’s attention: Misfortune was a freak, a freak even her own parents detested.

Su Xiao’s train of thought gradually became clear. If the intel was accurate, then he absolutely couldn’t rashly confront Mo Yi·Nora. If these two sisters weren’t simply born separately but were in a symbiotic relationship, then the Fifth Stage Witch Mo Yi·Nora was practically invincible.

Alongside the bad news, there was of course good news. Mo Yi·Nora was a deadly thorn in the side of the Holy Healing Church, and Su Xiao was now a Red Hunter of the Holy Healing Church. If he intended to go after Mo Yi·Nora, the Holy Healing Church should be able to provide support to a certain extent, though how far that support would go was still unknown.

Thinking this, Su Xiao stepped out of the cubicle and walked toward the library entrance. Xue Yi was still lazily sprawled on that little wooden bed, holding a book and reading with great interest. The title was ”Youlan’s Girl’s Secret,” and judging by that name, there was a very high chance this was an erotic book.

Noticing Su Xiao standing in front of her, Xue Yi shifted her gaze. ”What?”

”...”

Su Xiao didn’t answer. Based on his assessment, Xue Yi was very strong; she could handle a Fifth Stage Witch alone with no problem. Old man Carmen was also strong, but noticeably inferior to Xue Yi. As for Xue Yi’s elder sister Shirley, she was just an ordinary girl.

”If I go to the southern part to kill Mo Yi·Nora, based on your experience, how much chance would I have to succeed?”

”Hm? What are you talking about?”

Xue Yi looked at Su Xiao, her eyes full of bafflement. Su Xiao simply stared at her silently.

”Tch, are you a wild beast or something, to be able to sense that?”

Xue Yi put away the erotic book and stretched, her bones crackling all over.

”Forget it. Before I was allowed to leave the Central Plains Region, I had to cross blades with that woman several times every year. Can you imagine it? I beat her into a pile of minced meat, and she actually crawled out of the meat. For that, I paid with my strongest weapon.”

Xue Yi raised her right arm and her five fingers twisted briefly. This was clearly a prosthetic limb, though its construction was highly precise and its tactile feel was no different from an ordinary arm. When Su Xiao tied Xue Yi up last time, he hadn’t even noticed anything strange about this arm.

”That you managed to butcher Moris in Westport is surprising, but I still advise you to give up. Mo Yi·Nora and Moris are completely different, and what’s more, she has that freak of a little sister. That thing is practically undead. That thing... can no longer be called a Human or a Witch.”

Xue Yi’s words made Su Xiao’s eyes brighten. Clearly, this girl and Mo Yi·Nora were mortal enemies.

”If I don’t at least try, I won’t give up. Tell me, what’s special about those two sisters?”

Su Xiao wasn’t in a hurry to leave the library. Right now, figuring out how to leverage the Holy Healing Church’s Power was the best course. If he wanted to take on Mo Yi·Nora, he needed someone to deal with Misfortune at the same time, and that combat effectiveness would be most reliably found through the Holy Healing Church.

”What’s special?”

Xue Yi scratched at her blond hair, turning the slanted ponytail on her head into a messy tangle.

”Actually, Mo Yi·Nora still fits within the bounds of reason. She’s just strong. The real headache is her little sister Misfortune. If I’m not wrong, while you were tracking Mo Yi·Nora, you should already have experienced that kind of curse, right? The one that turns people into ash—that’s Misfortune’s handiwork...”

Through Xue Yi’s brief explanation, Su Xiao gained a clearer understanding of the two sisters in the southern part.

Mo Yi·Nora, Fifth Stage Elemental Witch, currently the strongest Witch alive (deceased witches not counted).

Misfortune, Fifth Stage Curse Witch, holder of the longest-known-range malediction-type ability; Immortality; combat effectiveness greatly reduced once her whereabouts are exposed; other details unknown.

If we look purely at combat strength, Mo Yi·Nora was without doubt the strongest Witch currently existing in the world, bar none. Xue Yi’s description was that even if three Moris attacked Mo Yi·Nora together, they still wouldn’t be a match for that woman.

”You’re not the first one who wants to kill Mo Yi·Nora. Before you, countless Witch Hunters tried to cut off the Mo Yi Family’s bloodline. Unfortunately, they all failed.”

Xue Yi sighed. As Mo Yi·Nora’s mortal enemy, she knew that woman’s strength all too well.

”The Holy Healing Church has repeatedly sent out two teams—one responsible for ambushing Misfortune, the other for Mo Yi·Nora. You guessed right: I was on the team in charge of killing Mo Yi·Nora. We tried this kind of large-scale assassination many times. Once, we actually ’killed’ Misfortune, but she stayed dead for only half an hour before she ’resurrected.’ I was just a few minutes short of killing Mo Yi·Nora. What a pity...”

Xue Yi didn’t go on, but from her, Su Xiao learned the method for killing Mo Yi·Nora.

Misfortune’s Immortality didn’t mean she could never die. As long as her body was destroyed, she would fall into dormancy for half an hour. If Mo Yi·Nora died within those thirty minutes, then the bond between the two sisters would be severed. Of course, this was Xue Yi’s conjecture, drawn from many attempts.
