Reborn in the Eighties as a Housewife with a Space

Chapter 775: Chapter 769: Discussing to Invite Rascals for Help

After hearing this, Nangong Shulan could only tell them that her home was too far from here, and it wouldn’t be good for the elderly in her family if she returned too late. Fortunately, after so many days of advertising, the customers knew what time they closed, so there was no interference with their closing time.

While the customers’ understanding warmed Nangong Shulan’s heart, there wasn’t much she could do. There were only two of them, and they couldn’t run the business for such long hours. Knowing that they were missing out on making money, both Nangong Shulan and Qin Lei felt regretful. Still, for the sake of their health, Qin Lei insisted that Nangong Shulan not overwork herself, which led them to consider hiring the ruffians for help.

As ruffians of their kind were usually loyal when treated with fairness, Qin Lei wasn’t worried about them causing trouble.

“Shulan, here.” Qin Lei brought a bowl of water and placed it in front of Nangong Shulan.

“Thanks. Do you want some?” Nangong Shulan said with a smile to her husband.

“No need, I just had some.” After giving water to his wife, Qin Lei made two pancakes and served two bowls of porridge. He placed one in front of his wife and the other in front of himself.

“You must be hungry. Come, let’s eat.” Qin Lei handed the chopsticks to his wife before picking up his own bowl. He was glad that he was there to help his wife, or else he couldn’t imagine how exhausted she would be.

“Okay.” Nangong Shulan started to eat. She was genuinely starving—making and frying pancakes while moving around constantly had taken its toll on her, and the breakfast she had earlier had long since been digested.

“My dear, I think we can use those ruffians. Their family situation isn’t good, and it’s not getting better. If we hire them, we can give them work and a salary. Firstly, it’ll provide them with jobs, and second, they might find wives sooner. They’re getting older, and their families must be anxious. We should help them out, don’t you think?” Nangong Shulan suggested to her husband after finishing her meal.

“Hmm, I’ve been considering it for a long time and have observed their character. They are indeed some good kids. We can discuss it when they come tomorrow and see if they agree,” Qin Lei replied. He had also observed the group for some time, and since his wife had brought up the idea, he had no objections. After all, they needed more help, and the ruffians knew how things worked around here.

As for why Qin Lei wasn’t afraid that they would scare away the customers, it was because they had never harmed anyone despite their intimidating appearance. Qin Lei believed they were kind-hearted and was willing to take a chance on them. This act of trust from Qin Lei and Nangong Shulan nurtured loyal managers who couldn’t be poached by others despite better offers.

“Sure. By the way, Lele didn’t come back yesterday. I’m not sure if she has enough living expenses or not. Can you find some time to visit her and give her some money?” Nangong Shulan thought about her younger daughter, who had been at school for two weeks. The school had a mandatory half-day off on Sundays, and since Qin Jiale lived far away, she usually came back only once a month.

Now that their family had started a business, they didn’t want their daughter to struggle too much. If she didn’t come back, they would make time to visit her instead.

“If I go see our daughter, can you manage here by yourself?” Qin Lei knew how much work was involved in running the business each day, and it would be too much for one person.

“You can help me in the morning, and then you can take the bus to visit our daughter when it’s bright outside. I’ll be fine after the morning rush. Don’t worry,” Nangong Shulan reassured him with a smile.
