Hijacking the Timeline

Star City Academy was undeniably the top academy in Star City, a consensus shared by all its residents. The gap between it and other academies was vast, particularly in terms of resource allocation.

The man known as Old Liang was the current principal of Star Optics Academy in Star City’s northern district.

While its overall strength paled in comparison to Star City Academy, Star Optics Academy still ranked among the top academies in the city.

After listening to Bai Fusheng’s explanation, Old Liang remained silent for a long moment before finally speaking:

”Why don’t you let me try it out myself? Then I can decide whether to promote it within my academy.”

”No problem,” Bai Fusheng replied with an immediate nod and a smile.

Bai Fusheng had been waiting for Old Liang to make the first move.

He had already experienced the latest version of Dawn firsthand, thanks to Feng Qi’s assistance.

The hyper-realistic technology of Dawn had left him utterly stunned. Facing his old friend, he felt confident that after experiencing it himself, Old Liang would undoubtedly agree to his request.

This would allow him to successfully complete the mission Feng Qi had assigned him.

”Come with me to the gymnasium. The virtual game pods are all set up there,” Bai Fusheng said, rising to his feet. Old Liang immediately followed him out of the Principal’s Office.

An hour later, Bai Fusheng led Old Liang, the principal of Star Optics Academy, into the gymnasium.

The gymnasium was cordoned off with caution tape, temporarily barring students from entering.

Inside, a large team of workers were busy renovating the space and assembling the virtual game pods.

Eventually, the gymnasium would be completely transformed into a ”Virtual Gaming Hall.”

Leading Old Liang into the completed Room 1, they stopped before a high-end game pod that gleamed with metallic luster under the lights.

After Bai Fusheng’s thorough explanation, Old Liang quickly grasped how to operate the virtual game pods.

Moments later, Old Liang lay inside one of the virtual pods.

Nutrient fluid flowed from the pod’s wall pores as the virtual pod’s lid slowly descended.

Darkness gradually enveloped his vision...

Just as Old Liang began to feel confused, a single point of light suddenly appeared before his eyes. In an instant, it exploded like a cosmic supernova, and countless stars burst into view.

The scene was so realistic that he felt as if he were truly immersed in the vastness of the cosmos.

Then, the word ”Dawn” gradually expanded before his eyes.

”Identity verification in progress... Connecting to database... Identity confirmed... As this is your first time entering Dawn, please name your character (Note: This game does not offer rename cards. Please choose carefully).”

Staring at the virtual keyboard that popped up, he hesitated briefly before typing ”Old Liang.”

The virtual screen vanished, and his character template appeared.

It detailed his current physical attributes, skills, and skill proficiency levels.

As this was his initial character, all abilities were listed as: None.

Character creation complete, the scene before him dissolved like smoke.

As his vision cleared, Old Liang found himself in the heart of a bustling metropolis.

Everything felt remarkably real.

The radiant full moon hung in the sky, the marble-paved streets gleamed, and distant fountains cascaded with water. Even his shadow shifted in perfect sync with his movements.

He recalled Bai Fusheng’s words: this super virtual game would completely eliminate safety concerns during students’ combat training.

At the time, he had been skeptical.

But witnessing such a lifelike environment, he suddenly believed it.

Just then, a thunderous roar echoed through the sky. Looking up, he saw a colossal Sky Giant Beast soaring overhead, its shadow blotting out the sun and filling the air with oppressive weight.

ROAR!

A deep, furious bellow shook the ground as a gale-force wind swept through, forcing him to stumble back several steps.

As the giant beast receded along the timeline, vanishing toward the moon, Old Liang’s heart pounded with awe.

”Such a realistic scene!” he murmured to himself.

At that moment, a synthesized voice chimed in:

”Character creation complete. Would you like to begin the newbie tutorial to familiarize yourself with the game’s mechanics?”

Without hesitation, Old Liang replied:

”Activate newbie tutorial!”

As soon as he spoke, the function panel materialized before him.

What followed was a tedious newbie tutorial. Listening to the electronic voice narrate, video pop-ups appeared intermittently to provide further explanations.

Old Liang gradually grasped the game’s mechanics.

But when he saw the introduction to the virtual instance feature, he was utterly stunned.

He suddenly realized something profound.

If this game could be perfected, it would drastically reduce the difficulty for frontline warriors to conquer Domain Fields in the future.

Every dungeon run in the game was essentially a simulated real-world conquest.

After the newbie tutorial ended, Old Liang initially wanted to try out Dawn’s matchmaking PvP feature.

But a system notification quickly dissuaded him:

We apologize... The detected online player count is 1. The minimum requirement for a competitive match is 10 players. Competitive matchmaking training cannot be initiated.

Disappointed, he could only open the function panel and select ”Exit Game.”

Darkness swiftly enveloped his vision once more.

The game pod’s lid slowly opened above him, and Old Liang’s eyes snapped open at the same moment.

As he straightened up, Old Liang immediately turned to Bai Fusheng, who was standing beside him with a cheerful smile. His expression brimming with excitement, he declared:

”Old Bai, I agree to your proposal! But first, you need to equip Star Optics Academy with ten thousand virtual game pods!”

”Ten thousand? Why don’t you just rob a bank?”

”Fine, then five thousand!”

”Get lost! Wait until Star City Academy’s virtual pods are sorted out. You’re next in line... Besides, I can’t make that decision anyway. You need to contact Feng Qi.”

”Who’s Feng Qi?” Old Liang demanded urgently.

Having experienced the super virtual game firsthand, he now understood its immense value.

If they could secure early access, it would undoubtedly accelerate the academy’s overall strength. Star Optics Academy might even climb significantly in the rankings, perhaps even ascending to become a top-tier institution.
