I Was Summoned as the Weakest Hero, But I Awakened a Military System

The midday sun stood directly overhead, casting harsh light across the ruined waterfront of Port Solis.

A cold ocean breeze blew salt spray and the lingering smell of burnt sulfur over the shattered stone quay. Five miles out on the open sea, the gray silhouette of the USS Gerald R. Ford sat completely still, surrounded by its escort cruisers and destroyers. High above the overcast ceiling, the faint, rhythmic buzz of an MQ-9 Reaper drone echoed down, its optical cameras locked dead-center onto the harbor mouth.

At the edge of the stone quay, Goddess Viona stood waiting.

She wore a long, flowing formal gown of spotless white and shimmering gold silk. Her long golden hair was neatly brushed, falling over her shoulders, and a delicate silver circlet rested upon her brow. Her face was completely calm, masked by a gentle, serene smile that looked entirely divine. No stranger looking at her now would guess that only hours earlier, she had been screaming in hysterical rage across her ruined palace floor.

Standing five paces behind her was Prime Minister Belis. The old man held an ornate silver scroll case with trembling hands, his face pale and eyes red-rimmed from silent weeping. He kept his gaze firmly fixed on the stone flags beneath his boots, barely daring to breathe.

Behind Belis stood the imperial escort.

Ayanokoji, Kenji, and Miyuki stood in a straight, flawless line. They wore formal blue-and-white Solarian diplomatic uniforms. Their left forearms were completely hidden beneath the long, embroidered sleeves of their coats, concealing the dark, thorny Torment Bands that bit deep into their flesh.

Ayanokoji held his black abyssal spear resting upright against his right boot, his dark eyes dull, glassy, and vacant. Kenji stood with his hand resting lightly on the pommel of a sheathed ceremonial rapier at his hip, his posture stiff and expression blank. Beside them, Miyuki held her plain wooden staff with both hands, looking down at the ground like an obedient shrine maiden.

The three summoned heroes were completely silent, their internal mana signatures suppressed into a state of artificial hibernation under Viona’s mental commands.

Suddenly, a heavy, rhythmic thumping sound echoed from the western ocean.

Chop-chop-chop-chop-chop!

The noise grew louder by the second, vibrating through the cold salt air. Emerging from the haze above the blue water, an MH-60S Seahawk naval helicopter flew low across the bay. Its dull gray fuselage cut cleanly through the sea mist, twin turboshaft engines screaming as it approached the harbor entrance.

Mounted on the port and starboard cabin doors, two six-barreled M134 miniguns pointed outward, their operators clad in flight suits and dark helmets, hands resting lightly on the spade grips.

The helicopter flared over the ruined quay, its massive main rotor kicking up a blinding cloud of fine white spray and stone dust. The wind whipped violently against Viona’s silk gown, but the goddess did not flinch. She simply maintained her gentle, practiced smile.

The Seahawk did not touch its landing gear to the stone.

Following strict theater security doctrine, the pilots kept the helicopter in a low, hovering taxi barely four feet off the wet pavement, engines whining at high operating power, ready to pull away in half a second.

The side cabin door slid open with a sharp mechanical clatter.

Four elite special forces operators stepped down onto the quay, their heavy boots splashing into shallow puddles. They moved in perfect tactical harmony, two stepping to the left flank and two to the right.

They wore full digital-camo combat fatigues, ceramic body armor plates, tactical helmets fitted with night-vision mounts, and wraparound ballistic eyewear that masked their eyes. Their short-barreled M4A1 carbines were held at a relaxed low-ready, fingers resting straight along the trigger guards, safeties clicked off. Underneath their plate carriers, portable anti-mana disruption nodes hummed with faint, localized electronic frequencies.

Then, the proxy stepped down onto the stone.

Brigadier General Phillip stepped out of the cabin with steady, measured movements. He wore a crisp, dark operational service uniform beneath a lightweight tactical vest bearing the silver star of his rank on the chest. He was a broad-shouldered man with a weathered, sun-browned face and iron-gray hair cropped close at the sides. Under his left arm, he carried a matte-black steel briefcase bearing the embossed seal of the United States Armed Forces Forward Command.

Phillip stopped five paces from Goddess Viona, planting his combat boots wide. His sharp blue eyes swept over the serene deity, glanced briefly at the shaking old minister, and then lingered for a brief second on the three silent Japanese teenagers standing behind them.

Phillip recognized them instantly from the reconnaissance briefs and John’s personal files.

Ayanokoji. Kenji. Miyuki.

They looked uninjured, clean, and perfectly composed. But Phillip noticed what an untrained diplomat would miss: none of them had blinked in over forty seconds. Their breathing was unnaturally synchronized, and their eyes held the flat, dead glaze of men standing before an execution wall.

Phillip kept his expression entirely neutral. He stepped forward two paces, stopping at the exact center of the stone quay.

”Her Divinity, Goddess Viona,” Phillip began, his voice deep, gravelly, and carrying easily over the whining hum of the hovering helicopter behind him. He offered a crisp, formal nod of his head, foregoing any feudal bow or curtsy. ”I am Brigadier General Phillip. I represent Supreme Commander John Smith and the United States Armed Forces Joint Task Force.”

Viona tilted her head slightly, offering an elegant, graceful nod in return. Her voice, when she spoke, was melodic, sweet, and filled with gentle warmth.

”Welcome to Port Solis, General Phillip,” Viona said softly, her eyes radiating divine serenity. ”I had hoped to welcome Supreme Commander John Smith in person, to look upon the young man who has achieved such extraordinary feats upon our shores. Yet, I understand the heavy burdens of supreme command. You carry his voice, and that is more than sufficient for this sacred hour.”

”The Supreme Commander sends his regards,” Phillip replied smoothly, his tone strictly professional. ”And he desires a prompt, definitive conclusion to this conflict. The United States has no interest in prolonged territorial occupation, nor do we desire the further destruction of your civilian population centers.”

Behind Viona, Belis took half a step forward, his old knees shaking so hard they bumped beneath his robes. He raised the silver scroll case, offering it with outstretched hands.

”The... the Holy Solarian Empire acknowledges the tactical reality,” Belis stammered, his voice thin and raspy. ”In accordance with your aerial broadcast, Her Divinity has ceased all offensive spellcraft. We have assembled the initial terms of cessation.”

Phillip nodded to the operator on his left. The soldier stepped forward smoothly, took the silver tube from Belis’s trembling fingers, inspected it quickly for magical runes or concealed mechanisms, and handed it back to Phillip.

Phillip twisted open the cap, pulled out the vellum scroll, and unrolled it with one hand.

His eyes scanned the formal Solarian script. The document was surprisingly thorough: an immediate and permanent ceasefire across all land and sea corridors; the complete disarmament of all coastal fortresses; the granting of unrestricted passage to United States naval vessels throughout territorial waters; and the unconditional release and repatriation of all foreign-summoned personnel to American custody.

It was, on paper, a total and complete capitulation. Every single demand John had laid out over the loudspeaker had been granted without a single counter-clause or objection.

Phillip looked up from the scroll, his gaze meeting Viona’s bright golden eyes.

”This is remarkably accommodating, Your Divinity,” Phillip remarked, his tone completely flat.

Viona let out a soft, melodious sigh, lowering her gaze with an expression of tragic, sorrowful humility.

”A true goddess loves her children more than her pride, General,” Viona murmured, placing a delicate hand over her heart. ”When I saw the black smoke rising over the Oakhaven granaries... when I saw the shattered stone of our grand bridges... I realized the folly of our resistance. Your nation wields an authority over thunder and iron that this realm has never witnessed. Continuing this struggle would only bring starvation and death to millions of innocent souls who look to me for salvation.”

She raised her head, looking at Phillip with an expression of pure, unblemished sincerity.

”I admit our defeat. The Holy Solarian Empire yields to the United States. We accept your terms in full. Let the killing end here, upon this shore.”

Phillip stood still for two seconds.

The air was quiet save for the steady, dull roar of the helicopter behind him. Everything appeared peaceful. The terms were agreed. The white flag was flying. The war was over.

Phillip unlocked the steel briefcase under his arm, popping the latches with a crisp snap.

He pulled out a thick, leather-bound folder containing the official United States instruments of surrender, along with a heavy black fountain pen.

”If that is your final decision, Your Divinity,” Phillip said, stepping forward until the distance between them closed to less than four meters, ”then we require your signature upon the primary articles. Once signed, humanitarian relief convoys carrying flour and medical supplies will enter the harbor under American escort.”

Viona smiled warmly, stepping forward to meet him, her golden robes rustling softly against the pavement.

”Gladly, General,” she whispered sweetly. ”Let us conclude this.”
