Apocalypse: the Most Ruthless Person

“Are you really planning to go to Cyan Dragon Corps to clear out resources?”

In the evening, in the room, Zheng Xinyu looked at Zhang Su with some surprise.

Zhang Su clenched his hand and said, “We have to go. There are so many sophisticated pieces of equipment in the military camp. Tanks and drones are powerful tools against zombies, and even if they’re used to ward off other survivors, they’re quite intimidating. If we don’t go, leaving them there would just benefit others, wouldn’t it?”

Some things you can accept not having yourself, but letting others take them is quite terrible.

“But there are so many zombies. Even if Cyan Dragon Corps can kill some, there will definitely be a lot left. It’s too dangerous!”

Zheng Xinyu had seen the situation outside the military camp firsthand and remembered it vividly.

Zhong Xiaoshan sat beside them without speaking because she didn’t know the specifics of Cyan Dragon Corps. However, from the information they had received, the outlook wasn’t optimistic. She looked at Zhang Su with great concern, hoping he would reconsider seriously.

“That’s why this task is very challenging, but we still have to give it our all.”

Zhang Su said seriously. Whether for the challenge itself or for the materials and weapons inside the camp, this trip was a must!

“Alright, you must have a plan, count me in!”

“I’ll go with you too!” Zhong Xiaoshan raised her hand.

Zhang Su shook his head and said, “Xiaoshan, you’re mainly in charge of logistics now. It’s better for you to stay at the camp.”

“So does that mean I can go? Great, I want to drive a tank!”

Zheng Xinyu revealed a mischievous smile, making a gesture as if holding a steering wheel.

“I saw two tanks in battle at that time. Hope they’re still usable!”

Zhang Su couldn’t help but look forward to it. Although the tanks consumed five to six hundred kilometers of fuel, which could scare a person to death, even if they didn’t move, using them as turrets in the camp would be quite awe-inspiring!

Not only tanks but also wanting to use zombies for power generation required a lot of parts. And those things were severely lacking on Celestial Horse Island. Cyan Dragon Corps, with their large resources, should have plenty we can find!

At night, during dinner at Little Lucky Restaurant, Zhang Su stopped eating halfway through and clapped his hands.

“Everyone, I’ve decided to set out tomorrow to clear out the ruins of the Cyan Dragon Corps camp.”

As Zhang Su finished speaking, a brief silence naturally fell over the restaurant as everyone digested the content of his words.

“Well… Brother Su, it’s only been a day. If we go tomorrow, it will take a day and a half at most. Will the zombies disperse by then?”

Wu Lue asked cautiously, having witnessed the zombie swarm assaulting the camp, like a mountain call and sea response.

Quite a few people slightly nodded and looked towards Zhang Su, clearly also worried about this issue.

“They definitely won’t disperse. The zombies should be gathering inside the camp. If we wait for them to naturally wander away, that’s unrealistic. And even if we wait, do you think other survivor camps will wait?”

“Do other survivor camps dare to compete with us?”

“Who else? Kuanzhuang? Even their few people dare to think about the camp? They must have a death wish!”

“Yeah, the old site of Cyan Dragon Corps is surely our meal, haha!”

Hearing the group’s discussions, Zhang Su frowned, with great displeasure in his heart.

As the leader of the camp, he was always vigilant, holding a forward-looking mindset, never daring to be complacent. Yet to his surprise, his companions, after a few victories, started to become arrogant!

Bang! Clatter…

Zhang Su’s palm slapped on the dining table, and the adjacent rice bowl bounced up four or five centimeters high, tipping over beside him, with the unfinished porridge spilling on the table.

Zheng Xinyu was startled in her heart, glanced at Zhang Su, seeing his cold side profile, said nothing, and hurried to clean up the bowl and porridge, then got up to grab a cloth.

In an instant, the restaurant was so silent that you could hear a pin drop, everyone sensed something was amiss, quickly putting down their utensils, even Corgi Good Fortune stopped, smacking its lips, and slipped under Zhang Su’s chair to lie down.

Outside the house, it’s over twenty degrees below zero. Inside, because of the heating and the restaurant, plus many people dining, the thermometer showed twenty-three degrees, a very comfortable environment. However, some people felt a slight chill down their spine, as if the ambient temperature was rapidly dropping.

“When did you all become so arrogant?”

Zhang Su looked up at the few who had just boasted.

Not daring to make eye contact with Zhang Su, several people hurriedly lowered their heads, counting the rice grains in their bowls…

“You’ve won, and don’t know how to write the word lose, is that it? Every single one of you, what on earth are you thinking about every day!”

Zhang Su’s voice wasn’t loud, but it left those who had been feeling overconfident at a loss for words.

Indeed, ever since arriving at Celestial Horse Island, aside from being tricked by the Beita Camp a few times—which ultimately ended in their annihilation—every battle had ended in victory. Each easy win gave a small group of people the illusion of invincibility.

At this moment, as everyone recalled, it seemed that the greatest contributor to every victory was Zhang Su, always planning ahead, perceiving opportunities, formulating strategies, identifying and filling gaps, commanding on the spot…

It can be said that without Zhang Su, there would be no Celestial Horse Island today!

“Mr. Zhang’s words are like a bell of admonishment, the principle that arrogance leads to defeat never changes, and we should always keep it in mind. I first examine myself; after repelling the Cyan Dragon Corps’ Grain Collection Team, I relaxed and became complacent. From now on, I will strengthen my mental and physical training to make up for my shortcomings!”

Yuwen stood up, removed his glasses, and spoke very solemnly.

The atmosphere in the restaurant became even tenser.

If Zhang Su was the backbone of the entire camp, Yuwen, if not the absolute soul, upheld at least half of it. His immediate acknowledgment of his mistakes suggested the situation was serious.

“I also reflect on myself… I should not have been arrogant. I will strive to learn and train hard.”

“I reflect on myself and should avoid arrogance and impatience…”

“I reflect on myself…”

One after another, seven or eight people gradually stood up to conduct self-criticism, each more sincere than the last.

In their hearts, how they truly felt, whether this criticism was unjust, they knew best. Admitting and correcting mistakes is not embarrassing; otherwise, future embarrassment could cost lives.

After witnessing everyone’s behavior, Zhang Su’s mood slightly relaxed, and with a more even tone said, “Wasn’t society stable enough before? Yet disaster struck without warning! Today’s relative safety is built on our relentless efforts.

If we can achieve this, other Survivor Camps can’t? I don’t belittle myself, but I also believe there are always greater challenges out there! Qin City has a population of only three million, not even in the top hundred nationwide, many forces stronger than us exist, whether they are right or wrong is uncertain!”

“If this time the Cyan Dragon Corps hadn’t been coincidentally engulfed by the zombie horde, a major battle between us would have been inevitable. I am confident in saying that Celestial Horse Island could win, but I can’t guarantee no accidents. Who among you can guarantee they won’t be injured or die in combat?”

The crowd was silent.

“A strong team is composed of strong individuals, but team victory doesn’t mean individuals aren’t harmed. I don’t wish for any battle to be followed by a final farewell to any of you. Everyone surviving is the ultimate victory!”

“Well said!” Yuwen clapped vigorously, speaking with great spirit: “Mr. Zhang spoke well!”

Applause thundered through the restaurant, every face filled with enthusiasm, genuinely inspired by Zhang Su’s words, especially by the last statement that survival of everyone was the greatest victory.

It made everyone truly feel the collective’s emphasis on individual significance.

“Why did Brother Su stare at me when talking about injury and death?” Wu Lue muttered quietly to Lu Yubo.

Lu Yubo suppressed a laugh: “Because you’re so hopelessly incompetent…”

“Everyone, sit down!” Zhang Su pressed his hand down and continued: “The Cyan Dragon Corps had drones, tanks, and many other sophisticated weapons, many were used against the zombie horde, but certainly some remain. Those are our primary targets!

Additionally, based on Xin Qi’s accounts, apart from the administrative department, the other departments of the Cyan Dragon Corps don’t have a strong sense of allegiance. If there are survivors from logistics and science departments, they could be absorbed into our camp to lay a foundation for future development!”

“Mr. Zhang’s considerations are comprehensive. Weapons and materials are essential survival resources, and population, especially talent, is necessary for growth and development! Wholeheartedly support the clearing of the Cyan Dragon Corps’ old site!”

Yuwen responded enthusiastically.

“Support, support!”

“Support Brother Su!”

“I want to go, I want to go right now, damn it!”

Those eager for advancement raised their hands in succession, showing great enthusiasm for the plan beneficial for progress.

“Don’t fight unprepared battles. The situation with the Cyan Dragon Corps is indeed grim. While we can be fearless, we must be prepared. Plan the strategy tonight and set off tomorrow morning!”

“Speaking of…”

Zheng Xinyu suddenly said, “What if as soon as we leave, the people from Kuanzhuang come to cause trouble, what then?”

“Lei Youliang is a shrewd guy; he surely realized my intent to annex Kuanzhuang. Their place is well-armed but short on manpower, feeling at a loss joining us, and thus using a delaying tactic to seek some benefits. Furthermore, we have Su Xiaoya as a hostage, and with his style, he wouldn’t cause trouble at our camp.”

Zhang Su thought that Lei Youliang shared some traits with himself, speculating that though Lei Youliang was plotting something, it wouldn’t lead to direct conflict, as they stood no chance in a confrontation.
