Apocalypse: the Most Ruthless Person

As soon as he walked through the back door, the light dimmed instantly, and Zhang Su could hear someone rummaging nearby, but he couldn’t see clearly. It wasn’t until the person spoke that he realized it was Lu Yubo.

“Brother Su, there’s quite a bit of coffee and tea here, and some juice crystals. Do we want them?”

Lu Yubo was rummaging through boxes and cabinets with his butt sticking out.

Once Zhang Su’s vision finally adjusted, he could make out the surroundings. The spacious client reception room was furnished with several leather sofas, and even in the dim light, the luxurious decor reflected a certain brightness, radiating opulence.

“If there’s space, pack them up. These are luxury items, not useful right now, but after settling down, they could be of use.”

“Got it, what the heck… huh? The dog sister-in-law was carrying just woke up?”

Lu Yubo was stuffing coffee into his backpack when a strange figure suddenly appeared next to him, startling him for a moment. Luckily, he had been seeing that head frequently recently, so he quickly recovered.

“That’s right, it just woke up when the door was opened. Bozai, where are the others?”

Zhang Su asked.

“Sister-in-law, Pei Lan, and Chen Hanzhou went that way; the others went upstairs to the second floor.”

Lu Yubo pointed towards the store entrance.

The Yihe Car Shop was made up of three storefronts combined into one, making it fairly spacious. Each floor had an interior area exceeding 400 square meters; the client reception area took up about a quarter of the first floor, with the remaining space occupied by the reception hall and showroom.

“Bozai, hold off on packing things, quickly go find the keys; that’s the most impor…”

“Watch out!”

“Sister Tan, be careful!”

Roar…

Before Zhang Su could finish speaking, his ear picked up a commotion from upstairs, accompanied by zombie growls, followed by chaotic footsteps and the sound of a scuffle!

In the silent shop, the sounds echoed clearly, and even those whose hearing hadn’t been enhanced could hear it.

“Sister Tan is in trouble!” Lu Yubo exclaimed.

“Hurry!”

Zhang Su first locked the back door from the inside, then quickly rushed up to the second floor.

When the three of them and the dog reached the second floor, many people were gathered together. A zombie in a security uniform laid motionless on the ground, an arrow from a crossbow piercing its forehead. Leaning against an old car, Tan Huajun was panting heavily.

Sizzle.

Zhang Su approached the zombie, yanked out the crossbow arrow, shook off the blood, walked over to Tan Huajun, and pulled her up, asking, “Are you alright?”

“I’m okay, just took a fall. It suddenly leaped out from behind the car and pushed me to the ground; scared me to death…” Tan Huajun wiped her chest in lingering fear.

Yuwen replied, “Maybe we were too quiet coming up, so this zombie stayed motionless until we went around and then suddenly jumped out. Hmm? Is that Miss Zheng’s Corgi?”

While speaking, everyone noticed a dog sitting next to Zhang Su. Though the lighting was poor, they could guess it was the Corgi Zheng Xinyu had been carrying earlier.

“That’s right, it suddenly woke up when you opened the door! Old Tan, glad you’re okay. Here, hold onto the crossbow arrow, it’s still usable since it didn’t break.”

Zhang Su patted Tan Huajun’s shoulder and glanced around.

The second floor of the Yihe Car Shop had many cars, but they weren’t for sale. From the dark silhouettes, one could tell they were mostly classic car models from the last century, showcasing the owner’s taste, adding depth and prestige.

Thud, thud, thud.

Zhong Xiaoshan and a few others who had been searching downstairs also ran up, concerned about Tan Huajun, but didn’t react much to the Corgi’s awakening. Zhong Xiaoshan had seen that lively figure earlier while waiting for Zhang Su and informed Chen Hanzhou and Pei Lan.

“Remember, when entering a closed environment, unless you’re ambushing others, there’s no need to be stealthy; instead, make noise to draw out hidden zombies!”

As Zhang Su spoke, he thumped the hood of a mid-century Ford sports car next to him.

The heavy sound reverberated in the silent car shop, producing a deafening rumble that made their eardrums itch.

After waiting for a moment, there was no movement.

“Mr. Zhang, that’s a brilliant idea. Our thinking was completely contrary, focusing on not startling them and inadvertently planting a hidden danger. Provoking and eliminating the hazard in advance is truly ingenious!”

Yuwen praised him effusively.

Zhang Su was used to this eloquent guy’s praise, glanced around, and said, “The place is too enclosed; someone needs to keep watch. Pei Lan, you keep an eye out on the street from the window; notify us immediately if anything happens!”

“Um, okay!”

Pei Lan knew that her hand was injured and she couldn’t do much, plus, since the car shop had been searched and there were no zombies inside, she wasn’t afraid. Following Zhang Su’s instructions, she walked to the window and took a quick look outside; the view was clear.

Zhang Su looked at Tan Huajun: “Old Tan, you just fell and had a scare, you keep watch too. Go to the courtyard, keep your crossbow loaded, don’t hesitate if anything happens!”

“Alright, Brother Su, don’t worry. I won’t hesitate!”

The foolish look on Tan Huajun’s plump cheeks slowly faded, replaced by a trace of fierceness.

“Okay, the rest of you follow me upstairs to find the car keys, likely in the boss’s office.”

Zhang Su turned on the flashlight and led the group upstairs.

Meanwhile, five sneaky figures appeared behind the counter of a cosmetic medical institution diagonally across from the Yihe Car Shop!

“Xiaowu didn’t tell the truth yesterday; that’s definitely my elder brother’s car, no mistake. I could recognize it even if it was burnt to a frame! It must’ve been that group who killed my elder brother; only that many people could have done it!”

Liang Xiaocheng’s fists clenched audibly. Though he was notorious for being a bully in Ba City, he cared deeply for his brother, Liang Dacheng, and seeing those he assumed to be responsible ignited his rage.

Someone in the group spoke up: “No wonder Xiaowu ran away. He must have leaked the information about guns being hidden at Yihe Car Shop to that group!”

“Exactly, he also didn’t want us to come to the car shop searching for guns, afraid of confronting that group, making up lies saying the area was full of zombies. Well, there are indeed a lot of zombies there, but that was purely coincidence!”

Listening to the analysis, Liang Xiaocheng nodded, saying: “Absolutely true! Earlier, I thought getting Xiaowu to identify them was necessary, but it turns out it wasn’t. Say… could Xiaowu be involved in my brother’s death?”

“Definitely!”

“Damn, Brother Dacheng and Xiaogeng didn’t survive, that coward probably peed himself right then, begged for mercy, and they spared his life!”

“Exactly, Xiaowu betrayed Brother Dacheng and Xiaogeng, he deserves to die!”

Since Xiaowu had fled, they resorted to blaming him, indiscriminately throwing accusations around. In the group, only the sole woman remained silent while the other three were talking non-stop.

“Had I known, I should’ve killed him yesterday!”

Liang Xiaocheng didn’t care whether his subordinates’ words were true or false; he was furious, enraged, and desperately needed someone to vent on.
