Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Blood Moon Rising—Have You Seen My Red Embroidered Shoes?

February 2nd, Dragon Raising Its Head.

Lin Yuan remembers clearly, in his previous life, it was on this day the world underwent unprecedented changes.

Deceitful Charm, Evil Spirits, Demon Fiend, Supernatural Beings...

Monsters of all kinds.

Originally, these creatures would only appear in movies or novels, but they have truly appeared in the human world.

Midnight.

At midnight, everything will arrive as promised.

”Tick.”

”Tick, tick.”

The hands of the bedside clock keep spinning, the chime marking midnight has already sounded.

Three, two, one.

Lin Yuan silently counts down in his heart, as the hour hand and minute hand align.

It’s here!

Everything arrives as promised.

In the pitch-black night, that bright moon is gradually turning blood-red.

Under the tint of the blood moon, the entire night sky becomes blood-colored.

For a moment, it feels as though the air is thick with the scent of blood.

Many night owls have already noticed this eerie change and started taking photos and sharing them in various chat groups.

Many people who were asleep were also awakened by their phone rings.

Everyone seeing the blood moon in the sky would assume it’s a rare natural phenomenon.

Only Lin Yuan knows the next step is the Hundred Ghosts Night Parade.

The first wave of the blood moon lasted for half a month.

During this half-month period, Earth’s human population plummeted from seven billion to less than one billion.

In the following three years, the population continued to sharply decline.

In his previous life, by the time Lin Yuan died, the global population was less than one hundred million.

Some countries even went extinct.

For instance, Little Sakura, Little Maple Leaf, and others.

Lin Yuan’s phone was also pinging with alerts as many part-time groups sent various blood moon photos.

Some girls even took beautiful selfies with the blood moon.

For this kind of behavior, Lin Yuan can only say, cherish it, this might be your only chance to take a photo in your lifetime.

Lin Yuan did not arrogantly try to warn others to guard against evil spirits and the like.

Because it’s useless.

Because, evil spirits, Demon Fiend, Deceitful Charm, supernatural beings, they are everywhere.

You hide at home, Deceitful Charm might crawl out from under your bed.

You walk on the road, a Yellow-skinned creature might ask you if it looks like a human or a god.

You’re driving, and a red-dressed bride might appear in your passenger seat.

Even your great-grandmother might crawl out of the grave to take you with her.

...

Lin Yuan didn’t warn anyone about the supernatural invasion, the Hundred Ghosts Night Parade.

Even if he did warn them, it would be futile.

Ordinary people, facing evil spirits, Deceitful Charm, Demon Fiend, are powerless to resist.

In this world now, the only way an ordinary person can survive is two words.

Luck.

If your luck is good enough, the evil spirits won’t find you, and you can survive.

As for Taoist Sect, Buddhist Sect, Christ, Lord of Heaven...

All the existing sects on Earth, all their magic is useless against evil spirits.

The only thing that can truly deal with evil spirits is tattoos.

Other than that, there’s no other way.

...

The blood moon has been in the sky for ten minutes.

With the blood moon in the sky, it means deceitful qi has started to exist between heaven and earth.

Lin Yuan can sense a dull pain in his thigh.

On his thigh is the location of the Ox Head and Horse Face.

According to the strength of his tattoos, the first to awaken should be Ox Head and Horse Face, or else Black and White Impermanence.

Now it seems, Ox Head and Horse Face should be slightly weaker than Black and White Impermanence, so the Ox Head and Horse Face Tattoo awakened first.

Lin Yuan can clearly feel the pain in his legs intensifying as the deceitful qi pours in.

At first, it felt like being pricked by needles.

Gradually, the needle-like pain seemed to turn into a burning sensation.

Finally, it felt as though every bone, every piece of flesh in his legs was ground up and then reassembled.

Lin Yuan grits his teeth, without uttering a sound.

Because he knows if he can’t endure even this level of pain, there’s no talk of rising in this apocalyptic world.

The pain lasted about an hour or so, and Lin Yuan’s legs gradually regained feeling.

During this process, his phone kept chiming ”ding ding”.

Based on past life experience.

In the initial stage of the supernatural invasion, social order sort of existed.

Phones, computers, these modern devices could still be used.

About a month after the supernatural invasion, small cities gradually started losing contact.

Three months later, only communications of certain official organizations could be maintained.

A year later, the entire Earth was already in ruins.

...

”Tick.”

”Tick, tick.”

While thinking, Lin Yuan suddenly hears footsteps outside the door.

He can sense the Ox Head and Horse Face Tattoo on his legs start to feel restless.

This is due to increasing deceitful qi.

With the blood moon in the sky, the deceitful qi on Earth is essentially constant.

When the deceitful qi in a place suddenly thickens.

Then there is only one explanation.

Evil spirits have arrived!

The door is closed tight.

But it doesn’t stop evil spirits from entering the room.

Just as mentioned before, evil spirits can’t be stopped.

Wall-Passing Technique, Deceitful Wall, these types of magic are basic skills for evil spirits and Deceitful Charm.

Suddenly, the evil spirit outside the door has already appeared in front of Lin Yuan.

Clad in a red wedding gown, like the ancient phoenix coronet and rosy attire.

Her face is grim and pale, eyes hollow and spiritless, lips as red as if they’ve been stained with blood.

No, her lips must have been stained with blood.

Because, just as she grinned, Lin Yuan saw a green speck stuck between her teeth.

This green speck isn’t a leek, Deceitful Charm and evil spirits certainly don’t eat vegetables.

It can be seen that this green speck should be the woman’s nail polish.

Just eaten someone, and probably hasn’t had enough, so she’s targeting Lin Yuan.

Despite having awakened the Ox Head and Horse Face Tattoo, being targeted by this red-clad female ghost, Lin Yuan still feels a chill down his spine.

”Have you seen my Red Embroidered Shoes?”

The red-clad female ghost stares fixedly at Lin Yuan, repeating the same sentence incessantly.

Lin Yuan scrutinizes her from head to toe, she’s wearing the red wedding gown, yet barefooted.

The Red Embroidered Shoes really aren’t there?

After thinking for a moment, Lin Yuan candidly replies, ”Actually, I’m a cripple, haven’t been able to get out of bed for years, so naturally I’m not wearing shoes.”

The Ox Head and Horse Face Tattoo Lin Yuan awakened is on his legs, causing them intense pain when absorbing deceitful qi.

Thus far, Lin Yuan is still lying in bed.

As for the red-clad female ghost, she’s directly in front of his bed.

Lin Yuan’s answer, obviously, did not satisfy the red-clad female ghost.

She lets out a ghastly laugh, pointing at Lin Yuan’s feet and says, ”Look...”

”Aren’t my Red Embroidered Shoes right there?”
