Global Lords: My Species Can Mutate

In just two days, the air route between Yellow Sand City and the Royal Capital was successfully opened.

During these two days, Lin You was busy managing various matters following the territory upgrade.

Meanwhile.

Many lords came to visit and congratulate him on his advancement.

Among them, there were even two Tier Nine lords, who came to make acquaintance.

“Lord, after inventory, the gifts brought by those people include 80 million Demon Crystals, 2.36 million catties of grain, and countless precious materials. Please have a look.”

Inside the territory, Xue Changgui reported while handing over a ledger to Lin You.

“So much?” Lin You was surprised as he took the ledger.

In the past two days, aside from those two Tier Nine lords, most visitors were Tier Seven and Eight lords.

For lords of these two levels, eighty million Magic Energy is not a small amount.

Even if it’s accumulated together, it was somewhat beyond his expectations.

It happened that he was short of money now, so it temporarily solved his urgent need.

“Alright, keep 50 million in the circulating funds, specifically for expanding the city and attracting population. You handle the rest of the items.”

Lin You deposited 50 million Magic Energy into Yellow Sand City’s circulating funds, keeping only 30 million as a reserve.

Now is the time for a massive expansion of Yellow Sand City, and this amount of money might not sustain it for long.

After all, with a Tier Nine territory, and now connected to the royal trade, it aims for a city of a million level; the construction funds naturally need to be substantial.

“By the way, what did the people sent by the King say today?”

Lin You thought of something and asked further.

“Reporting to the Lord, it’s about regional governance,” Xue Changgui respectfully clasped his hands.

“Regional governance?”

“Yes, every Tier Nine Lord in our Duchy has the right to govern surrounding areas. All the cities within a radius of 500 li are now under the jurisdiction of our Yellow Sand City.”

As he said this, Xue Changgui’s voice noticeably trembled.

Thinking back, their place was still the most impoverished border area, without even a Tier Eight Lord.

Now, their Yellow Sand City not only successfully upgraded to a Tier Nine territory but also gained jurisdiction over this region.

It was indeed a drastic change.

Regarding this.

Lin You had some knowledge.

The King granted the rights, allowing Tier Nine lords to help manage surrounding areas.

And 5% of the taxes from all territories within the jurisdiction would be presented to the Tier Nine lord, with the Duchy taking half and the remaining half belonging to the Tier Nine lord.

The reason they didn’t tax this side was because it was too poor, with no tax to levy.

Now with the rise of Yellow Sand City, gradually boosting the surrounding economy, this land was no longer barren, and naturally, the Duchy’s taxes followed.

After all.

This was also on the Duchy’s soil.

“Alright, you handle the liaison matters. If those cities are unwilling to cooperate, let me know directly.”

“Understood!” Xue Changgui responded respectfully.

Then.

He took out another ledger, continuing to report other matters.

…

Meanwhile.

On the Void Platform used for recruiting new lords.

The tri-monthly joint recruitment was about to begin, and the entire platform was bustling with emerging Tier Six newcomers.

In charge of the recruitment for the Great Wilderness Duchy was a Tier Eight lord serving under the King, leisurely leaning back in the main examiner’s position, legs crossed.

Suddenly, a Tier Seven official hastily came from a distance.

“Main Examiner, there’s a new order from above!”

He shouted while holding up a golden document.

“What order?”

The Tier Eight lord immediately sat up straight, drawing the attention of the new lords queuing for testing.

The official did not cover up, directly saying: “Sir, instructions just came down, saying that all territories within 500 li of Yellow Sand City are directly upgraded to S-level. Since the territory information hasn’t been updated yet, we’re asked to pay attention and not allocate according to the original rating.”

“Yellow Sand City? Are you referring to Lord Lin’s territory?”

The Tier Eight lord suddenly became interested and quickly took the document.

Upon unfolding it, indeed, it bore the King’s seal.

“It seems influenced by that lord, these territories have been temporarily rated. Listen up, all those F-level and E-level territories around Yellow Sand City are to be allocated as S-level.”

His voice was not loud, but clear enough for every official to hear, and the new lords queuing for testing could hear it perfectly too, immediately showing surprise and starting to discuss.

“Senior, why did the territory’s rating suddenly upgrade from F-level to S-level?”

At the data recording section, a new lord couldn’t help but ask.

This question further drew over other newcomers, all wearing curious expressions.

“Oh, you mean those territories, right? Because a Tier Nine lord just rose beside them, being assigned there is equivalent to receiving the protection of that lord, so the rating naturally needs to be elevated.”

The official replied without even lifting his head, clearly having anticipated this situation.

“Tier Nine!”

The newly recruited lords’ eyes widened immediately.

Those Tier Eight Duchy main examiners were already overwhelmingly powerful, suffocating them, so just how terrifying would Tier Nine be?

If they can obtain the protection of such a strong figure, it will definitely be extremely beneficial for their future development!

In an instant, many newly arrived lords who received the news gathered around to inquire about the S-level territory.

Even those talented individuals with potential were attracted by the reputation of the Tier Nine Lord, eagerly coming to find out more.

The bustling scene made the representatives of other duchies nearby look over involuntarily.

Overall.

The birth of a Tier Nine Lord has a very significant impact.

The Void Platform is merely a microcosm of this.

And as the source of it all.

Lin You actually didn’t feel much.

After listening to Xue Changgui’s report, he brought the newly acquired 30 million Magic Energy to the World Tree and upgraded the important buildings in the territory, raising them all to Tier Nine.

Buildings with upgraded levels had noticeably improved effects.

For example, the enhancement of cultivation speed for the residents in the Cultivation Field, the efficiency of Demon rearing in the Breeding Grounds, and the equipment forging efficiency in the Blacksmith Shop.

These are important means to improve the overall level of the residents and a decisive factor in attracting outsiders to settle permanently.

These.

Are things that Tier Eight Lords cannot compare with.

After upgrading the buildings, he used the newly acquired materials to build five Airships, leaving just 20 million Magic Energy.

After confirming nothing was missed upon checking.

Lin You sat down nearby, opened the duchy channel, and checked messages while eating the breakfast brought by the residents.

Since neither the Demon Plane nor the border battlefield was accessible, the lords were mostly idle with nothing to do, all gathered in the duchy, chatting and visiting each other.

Overall, it was extremely boring.

This was probably the first time since coming to this world that he’s seen such peaceful days, making him feel a bit sentimental.

He’s been busy running around for survival and to become stronger for so long.

How long has it been since he last had such a relaxed and leisurely day?

He probably can’t even remember?

It was indeed a good time for physical and mental relaxation.

“Lord, are you inside?”

While pondering, a voice suddenly came from outside, interrupting Lin You’s thoughts.

Through the spiritual connection with the Demon Emperor Dragon in the sky, he immediately saw Wei Gang standing outside with a squad of guards.

“Come in.”

As he spoke, the vine forest of Cyan Rattan opened a small path.

In no time.

Wei Gang walked into the territory alone and quickly came before him.

“What’s the matter?”

Lin You asked while eating.

“Lord, we and other city forces surrounding Yellow Sand City are about to hold a Demon hunting competition in the Gobi Desert to select young cultivators.”

“The lords of each city have basically arrived and want to invite you to preside over the grand occasion.”

“A hunting competition?” Lin You paused.

“Yes, this competition is held annually, established by those forces specifically to recruit talented youths.”

“Many talented young individuals who want to join forces come here, and we can take this opportunity to recruit some good seedlings.” Wei Gang respectfully explained.

In every city, there are usually various large and small forces.

Schools, gangs, families, cultivation sects, everything one could wish for.

Even in Yellow Sand City, a number of forces have recently emerged, being one of the main sources of cultivators in the city.

Moreover, nurturing and promoting the younger generation is extremely beneficial for Yellow Sand City’s future development, at least in terms of talent flow, there is no need to worry.

Since there was nothing to do for the moment, going to have a look wasn’t a bad idea.

It could also pass the time, and incidentally meet the lords from other cities.

Thinking of this, Lin You nodded and said, “Alright, you go and make arrangements, I’ll be there shortly.”

“Then I will take my leave now.”

Wei Gang cupped his hands and bowed, then hurried away with his subordinates to the Gobi Desert.

Meanwhile.

At the edge of the Gobi Desert.

Groups from various major city forces gathered there, making the originally desolate Gobi lively.

Apart from these force groups, there were also many young lads without teams.

Most of them looked only twelve or thirteen years old, older ones were around fifteen, and they were just at the age to start cultivating, the best time to showcase their talents.

Looking around, every face was both excited and expectant, gathering in twos and threes, chatting excitedly.

“I heard that many representatives from the major forces came this time. I wonder if I have a chance to be selected.”

“If you want to join those major forces, you probably need to rank in the top hundred in this hunting competition to have a chance.”

“Indeed, especially top forces like Spirit Sword Sect from Taihua City and Thunderfire Academy from Thunderfire City, have even stricter requirements.”

“Compared to those forces, I actually want to join under those lords more and secure a stable livelihood.”

“I heard this selection is organized by Yellow Sand City. Do you think that Tier Nine master will appear?”

“Probably not, right? Such a big figure isn’t someone we can meet just like that.”
