Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 667: Chapter 193: Artificial Will

Single God woke up from the haze, unsurprisingly finding himself lying in the repair chamber once again, with the flesh-like ceiling of the Nest overhead.

”Ah, as expected, it failed.”

The Neuro Editing Group wasn’t the first company he joined. To solve his mental issues, a condition even more severe than cyber psychosis, he had joined several similar companies.

Memory deletion, neural transformation, consciousness code repair—he tried everything he could.

Yet nothing worked effectively.

Even the Mother City’s Tier 3 Civilization Architecture struggled to heal his mind.

”If this goes on, I’m afraid I’ll—”

”Hmm!?”

Single God suddenly sat up, a mix of surprise and disbelief on his face, with a hint of joy.

The ’monster’ that tormented him day and night had suddenly disappeared?

He tried to recall, but his memory was quite vague. He only remembered seeing a ball of light after being backfired by the construct.

In his ear, he seemed to hear the voice of his new boss.

Did his boss solve his problem for him!?

Single God quickly crawled out of the repair chamber, hastily put on some clothes, and dashed out of the Nest. Everywhere, Du Gao Group employees were moving goods. After asking around, he confirmed the boss was in the office.

As he rushed to the door, he heard a voice that made his scalp tingle.

”Hehehehe, little Black Python, let the boss feel your big pecs.”

”No, boss, I’m a family man!”

”Your wife won’t mind.”

”But I mind!”

Gao Gong’s menacing voice echoed,

”Sir, you wouldn’t want your daughter to have an illness with no cure, would you?”

”Well, okay, boss, take it easy.”

Black Python’s aggrieved voice came up, sounding like the classic role of a young widow, tinged with contempt and a hint of forbidden thrill in his grievance.

Single God suddenly realized some secrets weren’t necessary to know immediately.

Unfortunately, the Artificial Intelligence had already noticed him and opened the door.

Inside the office, besides the boss and Black Python, were Du Xiaohai and Professor Han.

Du Xiaohai’s eyes were glowing brightly.

Professor Han was engrossed in the new information he had, unable to extricate himself.

Single God silently walked in, observing that on Gao Gong’s skin, a phantom of a Black Dragon was slowly roaming. With each circuit, his biological magnetic field solidified further.

Isn’t this Black Python’s move?

How does the boss know it?

On the system panel that Single God couldn’t see, Gao Gong’s G System version 3.0 had the new function ’Cell Memory Chip’ running at full power.

[Black Dragon’s exclusive skill ’Secondary Carbon Fusion’ is being simulated, 43%, 44%, 45%, 46%...]

Typically, using the ’Cell Memory Chip’ to simulate skills wouldn’t be this slow, but this was an exclusive skill.

Gao Gong’s last exclusive skill was ’Emperor’s Might’.

Though the scene wasn’t as titillating as Single God imagined, with two hefty men bare-chested, the sight was indeed a bit glaring.

Gao Gong calmly greeted:

”Yo, you’re awake.”

Single God glanced at the time; he had only been unconscious for less than an hour, while he thought he would be out for a few days and nights.

”Boss, did you save me?”

”Of course, just used a little trick,” Gao Gong said nonchalantly.

In reality, it wasn’t just a little trick. To solve the ’Pseudo-Memory Mother Virus’ on the other party, Gao Gong used up the last of his ’High-tier Information Mist’.

However, as a boss, it’s all about face.

And Single God evidently knew that the so-called ’little trick’ must have used something extremely precious; otherwise, how could his problem be resolved.

He expressed gratitude:

”Boss, from now on, my life is yours.”

”It’s not that dramatic. Our Du Gao Group hasn’t been a gang for many years. Street fighting can’t compare to piloting a mecha and throwing bombs.”

Gao Gong waved his hand and said:

”From now on, you and Black Python will serve as the Hunter Chief Instructors for Du Gao Technology. One will train Mechanical Hunters, and the other will train Biological Hunters.”

[Black Dragon’s exclusive skill ’Secondary Carbon Fusion’ simulation completed. Optimize?]

Optimize

[Human Body Data Model generation in progress, skill matching in process, 1%, 2%...]

Not all skills can be used as soon as they are simulated.

For instance, Emperor’s Might requires ’Black Prince King’s Blood’.

And ’Secondary Carbon Fusion’, without a doubt, has a bunch of prerequisites, maybe even requiring a stint at the Turing Sect.

However, with a little optimization using the ’Human Body Data Model’, you can not only enhance skill attributes but also reduce the conditions for skill usage.

G System, it’s awesome!

Black Python aggrievedly put on his clothes, as Gao Gong looked at Single God with unfulfilled curiosity.

”I had a physical conversation with Old Hei. Next time, we’ll have a chat about our mechanical bodies, okay? Didn’t you notice? Your gears are quite sexy.”

Single God’s mouth twitched hard, instantly feeling like he’d hit a dead end.

”Alright, here’s a task for you guys. You’re in charge of security here. You must ensure that nothing goes wrong until we’ve cleared this place out.”

”You know, during corporate wars, many people like to use business spies and mercenaries to wreak havoc.”

Black Python and Single God both nodded, their expressions serious.

”Okay then, Old Han, Little Belly, let’s head out.”

Gao Gong hugged the little girl with one hand and grabbed Professor Han with the other. In the next moment, a flash of purple light, and they disappeared.

Only the two burly men were left looking at each other. After a long while, Single God couldn’t help but ask Black Python:

”Satisfied?”

...

The Cyber Era is also the era of super corporations, where monopolies aren’t a problem. Not having a monopoly is.

Every corporate war is a golden opportunity for companies to break the ceiling and change the world.

However, to be honest, not all companies participate in corporate wars.

Especially some super corporations; their business districts are safe zones on the global battlefield.

The reason is simple. No matter which company wins the corporate war, they ultimately need these super corporations to cooperate for the ’Electronic Brain Plan.’

For example, the Six Major Bionic Groups.

As the most populous Neo-Humans on this planet, coupled with their unique ’birth method,’ whether it’s a Biological Brain Machine or a Mechanical Brain Machine, or any other connection method, it doesn’t really affect them.

After all, they’re bionic. How they ’imitate’ isn’t really ’imitating;’ it’s just adding a new functional module.

So, the largest artificial species on this planet didn’t get involved; they’re just watching from the sidelines.

Whoever wins, they help,

and the winner must also cooperate with them.

When Gao Gong appeared again, it was in front of a pure white skyscraper that extended into the clouds. The entire environment was clearly simulated, with clear skies, birds singing, and flowers blooming, and amidst the floating clouds, a flock of geese could be seen flying south.

Artificial Will, a giant renowned for manufacturing bionic chips.

It’s also the third bionic enterprise giant that Sister Rose forcibly acquired, following ’Electronic Grid’ and ’Pure White Shell.’

”Aggressive leverage operations, the savages of the free market, the Queen of Mergers,” Professor Han had evidently done some homework.

”Engaging in insider trading right under the Mother City’s nose. Memory Supervision Department, Humanity Experiment Department, Electronic Network Department, Machine Consciousness Department, Ghost in the Shell Mobile Division—Ms. Rose has made the blacklist of five out of six departments.”

”As of now, countless eyes are watching her, eager to see her downfall.”

”Furthermore, she’s made it to the top of the underground bounty list, with a bounty so high it could let an ordinary person live like Cloud Nobility for a lifetime.”

Gao Gong gave Professor Han a curious look, ”Professor, how did you investigate so thoroughly?”

”It wasn’t me who investigated it thoroughly; it was President Du.”

Professor Han said calmly, ”Incidentally, the bounty from our Du Gao Group partly contributed to that underground bounty.”

”...”

Gao Gong was silent for a while before saying, ”How come I’m not aware of this?”

”You don’t manage these affairs. It’s normal not to know.”

This makes so much sense, I actually have no retort.

Speaking of which, Director Du, with those thick eyebrows and big eyes, even you’re involved in hiring assassins? Our Du Gao Group is a legitimate arms manufacturer and mercenary organization committed to helping companies develop better. We can’t be involved in illegal activities!

Director Du and Sister Rose were probably born to be at odds with each other, and even in death, they wouldn’t get along.

One diligently engages in industry, sells arms, and builds infrastructure.

The other skirts the edge of the law, dealing in finance, walking the path of a capital giant.

One’s a rich lady in industry; the other’s a rich lady in finance. Finding each other irritating is probably to be expected.

Fortunately, Sister Rose is magnanimous and never hires assassins. As a former member of the top assassin organization, she generally handles matters herself.

Thinking of this, Gao Gong couldn’t help but wipe his sweat. His career of clinging to rich ladies suddenly faced an unprecedented crisis.

”Uncle Gao, why are your legs weak?”

”Soft heart, weak legs.”

Gao Gong pushed the wheelchair, leading the little girl into the hall of ’Artificial Will.’

Surprisingly, not a single living bionic person was in sight.

Nor was there any security to stop them.

Gao Gong stroked his chin.

Feeling a bit uneasy.

Cyber Era companies are far from those of the Civilization Era, each one more monstrous than the last.

Consecutively merging three companies and absorbing their corporate will—can Sister Rose really handle it?

”Uncle Gao, there’s someone at the opposite stairwell.”

Gao Gong looked up, finding the stairwell empty without a single figure.

”Little Belly, are you sure you saw someone?” Gao Gong squatted down to ask.

”Yes, I saw them,” Du Xiaohai nodded affirmatively, ”and Mom turned off my lie system, so I can’t lie even if I wanted to.”

”Uncle will help you unlock it later,” Gao Gong patted the little one’s head, stood up, and glanced around.

”Old Han, did you see anything?”

Professor Han tilted his head and promptly experienced downtime.
