My Superpower Leads Me to Murderers

Chapter 140: Chapter 140: Number Two and Dave’s Happiness

”Exactly. Only a scoundrel like Dave would do something so shameless, and push a nice girl to this point.”

”But she shouldn’t have done this... It’s too cruel.”

”There’s nothing wrong with it!”

”Old Dawson and his wife were very good to Shea. People should have some respect for past kindness, right? Couldn’t she have just divorced him?”

”Are you sure they weren’t just feeling guilty? They must have known exactly what their son is like!”

The surrounding neighbors offered a mix of praise and condemnation for Shea’s actions, their voices not quiet, but none of it stopped her from baring her teeth at Dave in front of her.

”What? Compared to the disgusting things you’ve done, I think what I did was quite nice.” Shea stared daggers at Dave, saying word by word, ”A piece of trash like you who tricks women into marriage, who’s infertile and can only give his wife away to other men—what right do you have to exist in this world?”

Thinking of everything she had endured, Shea’s gaze toward the man before her filled completely with hatred.

’As for saving face for him?’

’No, that was out of the question.’

”What nonsense are you spouting!” Hearing Shea’s words, Dave glanced behind him in terror, feeling that the neighbors’ eyes were full of ridicule.

Just as he was about to say more, Captain Lee, who was standing beside him, stopped him. ”That’s enough. We can talk about this back at the station.”

”If you two keep going, the one on the ground is really going to bleed out and die!”

’If I let them keep bickering, we won’t even make it back to the station today!’

His officer’s bandaging was also a bit rough. It would stop the bleeding temporarily, but for proper treatment, the victim needed to be taken to a hospital.

At this, Dave seemed to remember something and abruptly grabbed a young officer’s hand. ”My darling’s Number Two! Did you bring it out?”

”Huh? What ’Number Two’?”

The officer was momentarily baffled. He hadn’t seen anything like that!

Captain Lee, who had been trying to talk Shea down from outside the kitchen out of concern for her emotional state, felt a flash of disbelief.

’He had naively assumed that Shea, happy after getting her revenge, was just cooking something to treat herself...’

After all, from the outside, it just looked like a lump of minced meat, its shape completely unrecognizable.

Perhaps his gaze was too full of disbelief and shock, because Shea instantly understood what Captain Lee was thinking. She gave him a sweet smile. ”You guessed it, but there’s no prize~”

The surrounding officers weren’t idiots; they figured it out in an instant.

They rushed back into the kitchen and, fighting back their nausea, retrieved the thoroughly cooked pieces of meat from the soup pot.

Seeing the pieces of meat in the bag, Dave let out a blood-curdling scream and fainted on the spot.

’My happiness!’

’It’s gone! Just like that!’

By the time they got the fainted man into an ambulance and brought both Dave and Shea back to the station, an hour had passed.

Zoe Sawyer, who had witnessed the entire spectacle, nodded in satisfaction. ”I just knew coming out here would lead to something good. I’ll write this extra report with pleasure!

I’d have no problem writing three more!”

Compared to Zoe Sawyer’s excitement, Heath Hale and the other two had seen countless other people and cases.

Based on the conversation they’d just heard, they already had a good guess as to what had happened.

However, seeing Zoe Sawyer’s enthusiastic expression, they didn’t say anything to dampen her spirits.

Once they returned to the station, Zoe Sawyer immediately followed along and listened to the entire interrogation from outside the room.

From it, she pieced together the happy yet tragic first half of Shea’s life.

Shea was born into a well-off family. As their only child, she received all of her parents’ love and affection.

Materially speaking, they weren’t rich, but they were more than comfortable.

She had a few close friends, did well in school, and her parents were healthy. Everything seemed perfect.

But all of that was destroyed by a car accident five years ago.

The Sherman couple was out for a drive with their daughter. While they were driving safely, their car was suddenly rear-ended.

It was raining at the time, and the road was slick.

The jolt was so unexpected that the Shermans didn’t have time to react, and their car slammed into the back of a large truck in front of them.

The front of the car was instantly crushed. The Shermans, in the driver and passenger seats, died on impact, leaving only an unconscious Shea.

When she woke up, what was done was done.

In a daze, she could only take her parents’ ashes and return home.

Throughout the entire ordeal, the ones by her side weren’t her friends or other relatives, but the elderly Dawson couple—the very people who had carelessly failed to brake in time, rear-ended the Shermans, and caused their car to lurch forward.

That’s right. The culprits responsible for the deaths of the Sherman couple were Dave’s parents.

Afterward, under the guise of compensation and care, they completely invaded Shea’s life.

They controlled every aspect of it, from major decisions like whether she should continue her studies, down to minor details like what she ate and wore.

At the time, Shea had always been coddled by her parents, who had raised her to be naive. When she encountered the Dawson Family and their ulterior motives, she was too grief-stricken over her parents’ deaths to pay any mind to them, so she allowed the elderly Dawsons to manipulate her.

By the time she finally processed her emotions and was ready to move on with her life, she discovered that, at some point, the Dawsons had completely taken over her entire world.

She had even been moved to Varden, a city a thousand miles from her home, and had lost all contact with her old friends.

Looking at the elderly Dawsons’ sincere and apologetic faces, at Dave’s gentle and handsome face at the time, and hearing his loving confession... and feeling the warmth of the Dawson family’s home environment during that time, Shea became somewhat lost in it all, as if she had returned to the days when her parents were still by her side.

’I might as well give it a try. It’s not like I have anything to lose!’

Shea deceived herself once again, telling herself she had nothing left to lose anyway.

After the two got married, their life at the beginning was indeed quite happy. But slowly, Shea began to notice something was wrong.

No matter how naive she was, in the age of the internet, she had access to a lot of information online.

She naturally understood that newlywed couples don’t sleep in separate rooms!

And they certainly don’t resist even holding hands!

When she questioned Dave back then, she just got a dismissive excuse: ”You’re still young, there’s no rush for that kind of thing.”

What truly changed everything for Shea was a conversation between the elderly Dawsons that she accidentally overheard.

Mrs. Dawson’s tone was worried. ”Our son still won’t touch her. What are we going to do? If this goes on, our family line will really die out!”

She thought about how all her peers were already grandmothers, enjoying the happiness of a full family.

Mrs. Dawson was going crazy wanting a grandchild!

”No! We went through all that trouble to kill her parents in that ’accident.’ We absolutely can’t let her go!

If it really comes to it, Old Dawson, you go in his place!”
