Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce

The shuttle cart hadn’t gone far when the entire resort suddenly plunged into darkness.

The next second, the bodyguard said, ”Mr. Grant, something’s wrong!”

He immediately helped Walker Grant off the cart and quickly ducked into a nearby room.

Walker’s tone darkened as he strained to listen to the commotion outside. ”What happened?”

”AHH!”

As soon as his words fell, a scream echoed from outside.

”Who are you people? AHH!”

Frantic screams rang out intermittently, accompanied by the chaotic sound of footsteps rushing back and forth.

The bodyguard lowered his voice. ”A large group of unidentified people has surrounded the resort. They’ve cut off the power and internet, and jammed the signal. I can’t reach anyone outside, but I can still contact our men inside. They’re staying right by Mrs. Grant’s side.”

”No matter what,” Walker said deeply, ”you must ensure Chloe Reed’s safety.”

”Understood,” the bodyguard replied.

Walker added, ”The resort has a backup power system. Find it. Restarting it will temporarily restore the signal and electricity, and we can call for backup.”

”Yes, sir. I’ll contact the team to locate it right away.”

Dylan Finch had booked the entire resort, so there were no other guests. The only people they were hosting were Chloe Reed, Fiona Linton, and Preston Vance. Including the staff, there were fewer than thirty people on the premises in total.

By now, a few receptionists lay unconscious in the lobby. The kitchen staff had heard the commotion and gone into hiding. In the guest room area, some had been knocked out while others fled in panic, their screams continuously echoing throughout the resort.

Meanwhile, at the hot springs.

Fiona Linton was sitting by the edge of the pool, sipping her juice, when two dark figures suddenly barged in. Startled, she immediately let out a shriek.

”AHH! Who are you? Who let you in? Get out!”

Chloe Reed and Preston Vance both looked over.

The sudden arrivals rushed straight over to Chloe. One of them said, ”Mrs. Grant, the resort is under attack! Come with us, we need to hide you immediately!”

Hearing this, Chloe’s heart sank. Disregarding everything else, she quickly climbed out of the pool and hurried to the locker room to throw on her clothes. Only then did she follow the bodyguards down another corridor.

Fiona stayed close by her side. Seeing the situation, she grew extremely nervous and asked in a hushed voice, ”How could this happen? Aren’t we still in the country? Why would something like this occur?”

Chloe squeezed her hand, silently signaling her not to let her imagination run wild. The most pressing matter right now was to hide.

It had been peaceful for a while, but she had never let her guard down. As long as she was alive, Vera Holloway would never give up. Her temporary safety was probably only because Vera hadn’t had the time to deal with her yet.

And tonight, these were undoubtedly Vera’s people. She still wanted her dead.

Chloe’s eyes turned exceptionally cold, and her bright, beautiful face grew even calmer.

Preston Vance trailed behind them. Glancing in the direction they were heading, his eyes flickered slightly behind his glasses. ”Are you sure it’s safe this way?”

The two bodyguards replied, ”We’ve scouted it. There are no suspicious individuals over here, and there’s a cellar we can hide in.”

Preston countered, ”But if we hide in the cellar and get discovered, we won’t even have a route to escape.”

How would that be any different from being trapped like rats?
