Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce

Seeing this, Arthur Grant’s expression stiffened.

Judith Pierce hurried over, scooped Noah into her arms, and turned to walk away.

With the child frightened to tears, Arthur couldn’t possibly say anything more. He shot Walker a look, let out a cold scoff, and left the dining room as well.

Walker Grant sat at the dining table, his expression completely indifferent. White gauze wrapped around his eyes, concealing whatever emotions might be swirling within them.

A servant waiting nearby cautiously stepped forward and asked, ”Mr. Walker, what would you like to eat? I’ll serve it for you.”

”There’s no need,” Walker replied in an even tone. ”Go tell the driver to pull the car around.”

”Yes, sir.” The servant turned and hurried out of the room.

After coaxing Noah back to calmness, Judith rushed out, only to see the servant guiding Walker toward the exit.

She hurried over to stop him. ”Walker, you haven’t even eaten yet. It’s already so late. Where are you going?”

”Home,” Walker said simply.

Judith choked up, her voice thick with emotion. ”But this is your home too.”

Walker turned his face toward her. His tone was perfectly level, devoid of any trace of sadness or grief. ”Mom, take good care of Noah. I’m going back now. You can bring him over to Jardinelle to play in the future.”

Judith was deeply saddened. She had planned this out so well—a family sitting together for a reunion dinner. If possible, they could have cleared up some misunderstandings. Who could have expected it would end like this?

She took a deep breath and said, ”Walker, don’t take your father’s words to heart. He—”

”I know.” Walker cut her off, refusing to let her continue. ”The driver is already waiting for me. I have to go.”

Knowing she couldn’t make him stay, Judith could only escort him to the car. She strictly instructed the driver, ”Make sure you escort him all the way to his room, do you hear me?”

”Don’t worry, ma’am,” the driver nodded.

Watching the car disappear into the distance, Judith reached up to wipe a tear from the corner of her eye. She immediately returned to the villa and pushed open the door to a room, where she found Arthur sitting in a chair, holding a photograph of Julian Grant and gazing at it.

Anger surfaced on her face. She marched over, snatched the photo from his hands, and said coldly, ”Why are you playing the doting father here? How many years has Julian been dead? Who are you putting on this daily show for? I tolerated you time and time again because I understood your heartache and grief. We shared the exact same pain. But what are you doing right now?!”

Arthur furrowed his brows. ”Are you crazy?!”

”I think the one who’s truly crazy here is you! We have two sons! We didn’t just have Julian, we have Walker too! Julian was the one who agreed to it back then; no one forced him. None of us wanted an accident to happen, but it did. We’ve grieved for years, we owe Noah, and we should be cherishing the time we have with Walker even more! But what are you doing? Are you trying to drive your second son to his death?!”

Judith’s emotions finally snapped. A perfectly fine family gathering had been ruined by his nitpicking and mockery. Her tears fell uncontrollably. She was just so tired, so heartbroken, and so deeply devastated.

Arthur abruptly stood up, glaring at her with a darkened face. ”I was doing it for his own good! What’s wrong with me telling him to divorce Chloe Reed? Did you hear what he said? He wanted to kick me out too! He’s really grown too big for his breeches. Does he think he can do whatever he wants now?!”

”Walker and Chloe will handle their own matters!” Judith roared back at him. ”You haven’t even mended your relationship with Walker, yet you dare to interfere in his business! Do you honestly think you play some incredibly important role in his heart?!”
