Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce

”Okay, I’ll go with you.”

Chloe Reed didn’t feel right about her going to the hospital alone either.

Iris Yates wiped her face and said, ”Okay, just give me a minute.”

”Okay.”

Iris Yates got ready, changing into a new set of clothes and dramatically putting on a hat and a face mask.

Chloe Reed was quite surprised when she saw her getup. ”What’s all this?”

Iris Yates said, ”I’m worried I’ll run into someone I know at the hospital. If they tattle to my mom, I’m so dead.”

Speaking of which, Chloe Reed grew a little curious. ”Why does your family keep forcing you to go on blind dates?”

Iris Yates shook her head. ”I don’t know. I’ve tried to fight it, but it’s no use.”

The two of them walked outside, talking as they went. Chloe Reed’s car was parked at the community entrance, with her bodyguard waiting inside.

Chloe Reed said, ”To the hospital.”

The bodyguard immediately asked with concern, ”Ma’am, is something wrong?”

Chloe Reed explained, ”My friend isn’t feeling well. We’re taking her to the hospital for a check-up.”

Hearing this, the two bodyguards were finally able to relax.

Once in the car, Iris Yates leaned toward Chloe Reed and whispered, ”Are they all Grant the Scumbag’s men?”

”Yeah.”

Chloe Reed replied.

Iris Yates’s eyes widened in confusion. ”What’s going on? Aren’t you getting a divorce? Why are you letting his men get close to you again?”

Chloe Reed said, ”Some things have happened recently. He and I made a deal, so he arranged for people to protect me.”

Iris Yates blinked. ”Is it the kind of deal I think it is?”

Chloe Reed couldn’t help but laugh. ”How would I know what you’re thinking? But don’t let your imagination run wild. It’s nothing serious.”

”Hehe, one of those deals involving money and... other things, right? Did he offer a huge sum of money...” Iris Yates didn’t finish her sentence, but her excited expression said it all.

Chloe Reed gave her a helpless look. ”You’ve been reading too many novels.”

Iris Yates sighed. ”He really is a scumbag, resorting to all sorts of despicable tricks. Not much of a man at all.”

Chloe Reed lowered her gaze slightly and didn’t continue the topic.

When they arrived at the hospital, they first went to the obstetrics and gynecology department for a check-up.

However, she never expected to run into Nathaniel Monroe there.

He was accompanying a girl who was sobbing, and he was trying to comfort her.

When Iris Yates came out of the exam room, her eyes met his.

Nathaniel Monroe immediately walked over and asked, ”What are you doing in a place like this?”

Iris Yates frowned slightly. ”What’s it to you?”

She glanced at the girl in the distance and scoffed. ”You should worry about yourself. Your little beauty is waiting for you over there.”

Nathaniel Monroe’s brows furrowed. ”There’s nothing going on between me and her. But you... why are you here? Are you pregnant?”

As he spoke, his expression turned grim. Without even waiting for Iris Yates to respond, he demanded in a low voice, ”Whose child is it?”

Iris Yates: ”...”

She rolled her eyes so hard they nearly popped out of her head.

”What’s with the third degree? Why are you being so nosy?”

She retorted without a shred of politeness, then shoved him aside. ”Move. You’re in my way.”

”Iris Yates!”

But Nathaniel Monroe grabbed her by the arm, his expression exceptionally grave. ”Answer me. Are you pregnant?”

Chloe Reed, who had been watching from the sidelines, raised an eyebrow. ”Nathaniel Monroe, you seem very concerned about her.”

At her words, Nathaniel Monroe seemed to snap back to his senses. ”Who’s concerned about her? We’re acquaintances, that’s all. I just wanted to remind her to have a little self-respect, otherwise she’s the only one who’ll end up getting hurt.”
