Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce

Walker, however, wrapped his arms around her waist, lifting her up and pinning her completely against the wall.

Her face was filled with resistance, but he ignored it. He just said in a low voice, ”Chloe, I had the reversal procedure. We can have a child now.”

”I told you, I don’t want one!”

Chloe Reed beat against him with all her might, her voice growing hoarse.

But it was no use.

The vast difference in strength between a man and a woman was on full display in that moment.

Her struggles were like child’s play, easily restrained by him.

He was nearly frenzied. By the time he was done, her back and legs were sore and weak.

When it was all over, he stroked her lower abdomen, his dark eyes glinting. ”Chloe, my seed is inside you now. It’ll sprout soon.”

Chloe Reed trembled all over. Her eyes were badly swollen. With her back to him, her gaze was filled with an icy coldness, mingled with a hint of hatred.

’She hated Walker Grant.’

She bit her lip, trying to control her emotions in her distress.

She closed her eyes and remained silent.

Walker Grant lay beside her, and soon, the sound of his steady breathing filled the air.

Chloe Reed was utterly exhausted, but she didn’t sleep. She waited until he was sound asleep, then got up. Forcing herself to ignore the soreness between her legs, she went to the study, opened a drawer, and took out a small bottle of pills.

She had birth control pills ready.

She knew he would go crazy, that he was a ticking time bomb. Besides, he had expressed his desire for a child before.

’So, he must have had the reversal procedure.’

’She absolutely could not have a child with him.’

Only after she’d swallowed the pills with cold water did she let out a sigh of relief, collapsing onto the sofa, completely drained of strength.

The night grew deeper, more desolate.

She curled up into a ball. Sorrow enveloped her like a thick, dark cloud, leaving her unable to breathe.

...

The next day, Chloe Reed contacted a real estate agent, ready to sell the place.

She was going to buy a new house to live in.

At the very least, it had to be in a community where no one could get in unless she registered them.

She even avoided properties developed by Grant Corporation’s real estate division.

Eventually, she found a suitable apartment complex.

But she never expected that Preston Vance lived there.

This property was developed by the real estate company under the Vance Group.

She had come to look at an apartment and happened to run into Preston Vance.

”Chloe, what are you...?” Preston Vance was surprised to see her and came over to greet her.

Chloe Reed was surprised too, and replied, ”I’m here to look at an apartment.”

Preston Vance smiled. ”I live here, on the 21st floor. What floor are you looking at? This is a pretty nice place.”

Chloe Reed said, ”The 17th floor.”

Preston Vance said, ”Do you have any other requirements? I can ask around for you.”

Chloe Reed listed her requirements. After listening, Preston Vance smiled faintly and said, ”This place is quite suitable. The 17th floor in this building, and the 22nd floor in the building up front are both available.”

Chloe Reed said, ”Then I’ll go take a look at the one in front.”

”I happen to be free. Let me go with you,” Preston Vance said, pushing up his glasses.

He really did seem to have nothing to do. Dressed casually, without the barrier of a business suit, he felt much less distant.

Chloe Reed didn’t refuse. She even asked, ”Is it also possible to blacklist certain people?”

That way, those people wouldn’t be able to get into the complex through someone else.

”Yes, it is.” Preston Vance nodded, then asked, ”Who do you want to blacklist?”

Chloe Reed didn’t say, merely smiling as she replied, ”I’ll tell you after I decide to buy a place here.”

”Alright.”

Preston Vance was tactful enough not to press the issue.

After viewing the second apartment, Chloe Reed found she quite liked it. Just as she was about to make a decision, her phone rang.
