The Invincible Strongest Student

Chapter 790: Chapter 790: A Man with a Treasured Jewel Is Guilty

Lin Tian drove the car into the villa’s courtyard and glanced at the rearview mirror. The big guy was already gone.

Lin Tian couldn’t help but smile. The previous conversation had taught him that people coming out of Black Gold, after training, couldn’t have poor character.

Earlier when he spoke with the big guy, it was entirely in a joking tone.

If the big guy really intended to betray, he would have shown flaws, which Lin Tian couldn’t miss.

This kind of betrayal is a kind of professional ethics corruption, and if the employer found out, it would ruin Black Gold’s reputation.

Lin Tian wouldn’t contact that big guy again. Maybe the villa really had something that needed help, but Lin Tian would find someone else for the job.

In one’s place, one should do one’s duty. Being fickle is not the right approach for a worker.

Lin Tian used the key to unlock the door and carried Mei Ruyan inside.

It was warm inside since the heating was on. Lin Tian placed Mei Ruyan on the sofa, took off her coat, and started looking around the house.

The entire villa was vast, both the courtyard and the interiors were large, spanning two floors with a European renovation style. Walking inside, only two words came to Lin Tian’s mind: luxurious, high-end!

In fact, he just wanted a bigger place so that even refining pills wouldn’t disturb others or lead to unnecessary trouble.

But this villa exceeded Lin Tian’s expectations. Compared to his own villa, this place was a notch higher in terms of class.

Lin Tian took a round and confirmed there were no extra monitors inside the villa, then returned to the sofa.

Sitting on the soft sofa, which sunk as he sat, Lin Tian noticed two big medical kits beside the coffee table. When he opened them, he found all sorts of household medical equipment with a note on top, and a doctor’s business card clipped on it.

Seeing this, Lin Tian couldn’t help but laugh softly, murmuring to himself, ”I never expected Wu Yong, that rough guy, to have such a meticulous side.”

Putting the business card aside, Lin Tian rummaged through the box, found nothing useful, and gave up.

At this moment, the door to the room was knocked upon. Lin Tian got up and looked through the peephole and found Bai Shishi outside, wrapped snugly.

Lin Tian quickly opened the door to let Bai Shishi in. As she walked in, Lin Tian caught the smell of alcohol and noticed her unsteady gait.

”Did you drink?” Lin Tian asked, immediately supporting Bai Shishi by the arm.

”I drank a little at a recent social event. I heard from Wu Yong that Ruyan was sick. What happened to her?” Bai Shishi leaned half of her body against Lin Tian’s sturdy chest, her eyes sweeping across the room.

”Don’t worry, she just feels a bit weak and needs to rest here for a while.” Lin Tian helped Bai Shishi over to where Mei Ruyan was lying.

The moment she saw Mei Ruyan in this state, Bai Shishi’s strong-woman facade dissipated, and worry filled her eyes.

”Don’t you trust my medical skills? It’s really just exhaustion, she needs to rest. I just wanted Wu Yong to update you, didn’t expect you’d come over.”

Bai Shishi touched Mei Ruyan’s forehead and checked her complexion before feeling a bit relieved. ”Let’s move her to the bed so she doesn’t catch a cold here.”

Lin Tian nodded, instantly scooping Mei Ruyan into his arms and placing her on a bed in the room. After Bai Shishi tucked her in, they both closed the door and left.

Lin Tian sat on the sofa and patted the seat next to him, indicating for Bai Shishi to sit down.

Bai Shishi sat a little further away from Lin Tian, glanced at him, and said, ”Ruyan told me a few days ago that she wanted to take a leave, but wouldn’t tell me where she was going. I couldn’t find you either. So, you two did elope!”

Lin Tian scooted over closer to her and held Bai Shishi’s slightly cold hands in his.

Bai Shishi was visibly startled by his move, as no one had ever held her hand so willingly.

She wanted to pull her hand back, but Lin Tian held it tightly, leaving her no choice but to let him.

Lin Tian rubbed her hand and said, ”Listen to you! If I were to elope, I would definitely take you along; your dad agreed to marry you to me, after all.”

Bai Shishi, already flushed from drinking, blushed even more, making her face look like a ripe peach. Seeing this made Lin Tian’s mouth dry, and he just wanted to pull her onto the sofa and kiss her hard.

”Stop rambling about nonsense. Quickly tell me, where have you two gone these past few days? If you both still keep secrets from me, then who can I trust?”

Having said that, Bai Shishi raised her head and seriously looked at Lin Tian’s face.

Meeting her gaze, Lin Tian’s heart was stirred by something, pulling her into his embrace.

Bai Shishi, losing her mother at a young age and growing up in that kind of family, almost never experienced familial love. Betrayed by her younger brother, backstabbed by Xiaogang, within mere months, she had been kidnapped numerous times without count.

Such a Bai Shishi was far less strong than her exterior suggested, instead quite fragile.

If there was anyone in the world left for her to cherish, it would be Bai Shishi, Mei Ruyan, and her father.

Lin Tian gently patted her back and said, ”We didn’t tell you because we didn’t want you to worry. You know there’s an auction today on the outskirts of Kanyue City, right?”

”I know. My dad went; I didn’t. So, you went there?” Bai Shishi quietly nestled in Lin Tian’s arms, feeling a bit tired after drinking.

Lin Tian nodded. ”Yeah.”

”I know that place. I’ve heard the forces there are pretty complex. Were you there just to attend the auction? Why hide it from me then?”

Lin Tian smiled and then carefully explained Mei Ruyan’s family history, including his father’s illness and the two medicinal herbs in Luoyan Dock.

Hearing about Mei Ruyan’s background, Bai Shishi was moved. She had never heard Mei Ruyan talk about her past before, nor asked about it. Now that she knew, she found it similar to her own experience. Genuinely empathetic.

Of course, Lin Tian skipped the excessively perilous parts.

”Now the ones looking for me definitely aren’t just the Wang Family and the Yue Family; others are surely looking for me too... It’s the trouble of carrying a prized possession!”

”So, what do we do now?” Bai Shishi looked at Lin Tian with great concern.

”I’m not really worried about myself. What I’m concerned about is, if they can’t find me, they might come after my women.” Lin Tian remarked with a naughty smile looking at Bai Shishi.
