The Delicate Darling with Her Rough Man

”What is this? I’ve never seen anything like it!”

Zhu Wanqi looked at the bottles and jars before her, already taking a liking to them.

Lu Yuanbin’s subordinate was a sharp one. Seeing Zhu Wanqi’s interest, he immediately began to explain.

”These are skincare products made by that master. They’re excellent for repairing skin with allergies, redness, or acne scars. They contain many medicinal herbs that nourish the skin...”

The subordinate rambled on, and the more he spoke, the more tempted Zhu Wanqi became.

She picked up a bottle and opened it for a sniff. A clean, fresh fragrance was mixed in with the medicinal aroma. It wasn’t unpleasant at all; in fact, it smelled wonderful. The scent was far more refined than any face cream she had ever used.

”How much is it?”

”Two hundred.”

Zhu Wanqi hesitated when she heard the number.

’That’s way too expensive. Her monthly salary was thirty-five, and Zhang Tianming’s was fifty. This one skincare set was equivalent to two and a half months of their combined salaries. It was just too much.’

”Two hundred is just too much. The product seems nice, but that price is ridiculous.”

’The shampoo bars were already pricey. Now this skincare set is two hundred? What a rip-off.’

Afraid that Zhu Wanqi had gotten the wrong impression, the subordinate quickly explained, ”Miss Zhu, the production process for this skincare is incredibly complex. You probably know that the face soaps and shampoo bars are out of stock. That’s because the master has been spending all this time making this. And even so, he only managed to produce two sets.”

And Zhu Wanqi did know about that.

She knew plenty of people, and many of the young women at her factory used the face soap they sold. Lately, though, she’d been hearing constant complaints that it was out of stock. It was such a great product, and no one knew when it would be available again.

’It had been out of stock for a while now. To think they hadn’t stopped production, but were making skincare instead.’

She couldn’t help but ask.

”There are only two sets?”

The subordinate nodded. ”Only two. Our Third Master knew you have facial allergies, so he had me bring a set over specifically for you. But if you don’t want it, I’ll be on my way.”

He didn’t press the issue.

’Anyway, the Third Master said if it happens, it happens. If not, forget it. Don’t force things.’

Zhu Wanqi grew anxious as she watched the subordinate close the lid on the box.

She looked over at Zhang Tianming.

Zhang Tianming shot the subordinate a glare, but ultimately had to give in.

”Leave it here.”

With that, he turned, pulled two hundred yuan from a drawer, and handed it to the subordinate.

The subordinate took the money, counted it right there, then left the box and departed.

’Zhang Tianming actually thought Lu Yuanbin’s man wasn’t half bad. He cleared up any issues on the spot, saving the trouble of discovering a problem after he’d already left.’

Only after the man had gone did he speak.

”Don’t put this on just yet. I’ll have someone look into which village that old physician was sent to.”

The words were barely out of his mouth when he saw his wife had already gleefully opened the box and was dabbing the product onto the back of her hand.

She even leaned in to take a few deep whiffs, and her expression made it clear she loved the scent.

Seeing a smile on his wife’s face for the first time in a long while, Zhang Tianming sighed in resignation.

’Oh, well. You can’t put a price on his wife’s happiness. As long as she was happy, two hundred yuan wasn’t so expensive after all.’

’Still, he felt a bit like a sucker.’

He glanced at the box, then turned and headed to the study. He still had some matters to attend to.

Zhu Wanqi paid Zhang Tianming no mind. She rubbed the cream onto the back of her hand, and her skin absorbed it almost instantly. When she ran her fingers over the spot, it felt smooth and supple, a stark contrast to her other hand, which felt much rougher.
