Chapter 562: Chapter 562: Battle of the Martial Brothers

Upon hearing Wei Yunhang’s words, all the Core Disciples of Taiqing Academy nodded respectfully. It was clear that Wei Yunhang was growing angry.

Little Ape had just killed ten Direct Disciples of Taiqing Academy in one fell swoop, and for a moment, no one else dared to step onto the stage. Taking advantage of this pause, a few Outer Disciples were washing the blood from the arena stage.

While the stage was being cleaned, Qin Feng’s senior brother stood up. Seeing him rise, Wei Yunhang’s brow furrowed. Honestly, he really didn’t want to see him right now. ’This guy is a complete blockhead.’

”Brother Wei.” He bowed cautiously to Wei Yunhang.

Wei Yunhang looked at Qin Feng’s senior brother with irritation and asked, ”What do you want now?”

”Brother Wei, I wish to request a Taiqing Academy Core Disciple Battle with my junior brother, Qin Feng,” he said slowly.

Hearing this, Wei Yunhang stared at him for a long moment. A Core Disciple Battle wasn’t a simple matter. The rules of Taiqing Academy were well-known: sect members were forbidden from arranging private battles. The only paths to promotion were through the grand competition or by being accepted as a disciple by a Main Seat Elder or a Supreme Elder.

The Core Disciple Battle was an arranged match where both participants wagered their status as Core Disciples. A loss meant the loser would no longer be a Core Disciple of Taiqing Academy.

However, there was one prerequisite for a Core Disciple Battle: the master of both disciples, who was a Supreme Elder, had to give his consent.

After a moment of contemplation, Wei Yunhang said coolly, ”A Core Disciple Battle requires the consent of a Supreme Elder.”

Scarcely had Wei Yunhang finished speaking when the voice of Qin Feng and his brother’s master came from the central high platform, ”I have no objection. Yunhang, you can make the final decision.”

Hearing their master’s words, Wei Yunhang glanced coolly at Lin Yun beside him. Deep down, he was still very displeased with Lin Yun, whose earlier actions had shown him no respect at all.

Wei Yunhang also knew that Qin Feng and Lin Yun seemed to be old acquaintances. Perhaps due to his own resentment, he wanted to use Qin Feng to teach Lin Yun a lesson. ’Qin Feng is a disciple of Taiqing Academy,’ he thought. ’No matter how unhappy Lin Yun gets, he can’t possibly act as domineeringly as he did before, can he?’

A faint smile touched the corners of his mouth. Instead of agreeing directly, Wei Yunhang made a show of consideration, turning to Qin Feng to ask, ”Qin Feng, do you agree?”

Hearing Wei Yunhang’s question, Qin Feng also stood up, bowed to him, and said, ”Brother Wei, I am willing.”

When he heard Qin Feng agree, a cold smirk appeared on his senior brother’s face. ’Today,’ he thought, ’I’m going to cripple Qin Feng.’

Lin Yun, who had been silent, keenly caught the smirk. ’It seems this senior brother of his planned this battle with Qin Feng long ago,’ he mused.

However, Lin Yun did not intervene. For one, Qin Feng had agreed to it himself. For another, Lin Yun knew it would be inappropriate for him to interfere again, especially since Qin Feng was a disciple of Taiqing Academy.

But would Lin Yun simply disregard Qin Feng’s safety? Of course not. Lin Yun had his own plans in mind.

”Good. Since you both agree, let it begin,” Wei Yunhang said coolly. As he spoke, he deliberately glanced at Lin Yun, but Lin Yun was simply sipping his tea leisurely, showing no sign of wanting to interfere.

Seeing Lin Yun’s calm demeanor, Wei Yunhang smiled faintly.

Qin Feng and his senior brother leaped onto the arena stage simultaneously. The news that a Core Disciple Battle was about to begin quickly drew the gazes of countless Taiqing Academy disciples, and even the lingering fear from Little Ape’s earlier battle began to dissipate.

This was because Core Disciple Battles were a rare occurrence. They were duels where participants wagered their very status, and under normal circumstances, few Core Disciples would ever choose to fight one.

The two of them stood facing each other. His senior brother looked at Qin Feng and sneered, ”Qin Feng, don’t think the worst that can happen is you just become an Inner Sect Disciple again. This time, I’m going to crush you so completely you’ll never recover.”

’Logically, although a Core Disciple Battle meant wagering one’s status, the worst outcome was usually just being demoted to a Direct Disciple. After all, every Core Disciple was highly talented; for such a genius, becoming the apprentice of a Main Seat Elder was still a simple matter.’

Hearing his senior brother’s words, Qin Feng knew he was no longer the same naive boy who understood nothing.

Ever since he had traveled to the Eastern Heart Domain with Li Tian and then struggled on his own in Taiqing Academy for so many years, the hardships he endured and the experiences he gained had long since forged him into a mature and astute man.

Qin Feng knew his senior brother had probably made thorough preparations. ’First, no Main Seat Elder will take me as a disciple now. As for how he plans to crush me completely... I don’t know the details, but one thing is certain: he will show absolutely no mercy.’

”Ever since I became Master’s disciple, you have made things difficult for me at every turn. Perhaps you’re afraid that I’ll win more of Master’s favor than you in the future. But, Senior Brother, must you really push this to a life-or-death situation?” Qin Feng hadn’t been a Core Disciple for long, and he truly didn’t want to fight to the death with a fellow disciple. That was why, even now, he still addressed the man as ”Senior Brother.”

Hearing Qin Feng’s words, his senior brother sneered, ”Don’t call me Senior Brother. I have no junior brother like you. Let me tell you something: when it comes to the Core Disciples of Taiqing Academy, it’s either me or you.”

Hearing his senior brother’s reply, Qin Feng knew there was nothing left to say. His gaze gradually turned cold. ’With a senior brother like this, there’s nothing to be conflicted about,’ he thought. ’After all, from the very beginning, all he’s ever wanted was to kill me.’

A cold killing intent emanated from both of them. Watching the two on the stage, Wei Yunhang chuckled and said to Lin Yun, ”Brother Lin Yun, do you understand the significance of this Core Disciple Battle?”

Hearing this, Lin Yun smiled faintly and turned to Wei Yunhang. ”Brother Wei, there’s no need to test me further. Qin Feng is a disciple of your Taiqing Academy. I will not interfere.”

Lin Yun had laid his cards on the table. In response, Wei Yunhang gave a dry laugh and said no more.

On the arena stage, Qin Feng’s senior brother unleashed his Elemental Power. The fluctuations of a Ninth Layer Primordial Ocean Realm cultivator surged skyward. He looked at Qin Feng and cackled, ”Qin Feng, today I will personally destroy everything you have! Hahaha!”

”Do you really think you can still defeat me so easily? Or are you so certain of your victory?” Qin Feng shook his head slightly, his voice cold. Then, from his own body, the Elemental Power of the Ninth Layer of the Primordial Ocean Realm also erupted skyward.

Qin Feng had also broken through to the Ninth Layer of the Primordial Ocean Realm. His senior brother was momentarily stunned. Even their master, seated on the central high platform, had a flicker of surprise in his eyes.
