“Your Majesty! We are here to help!” A large group of Harunian warriors rushed towards them.

Seeing this, Arcientus was relieved.

His face had already gone pale since he had temporarily stopped supplying mana to his chest which resulted in severe blood loss.

The Harunian warriors immediately surrounded the injured emperor, protecting him from all directions.

Roarr!!

A beastly roar suddenly resounded from above, draining the blood from their faces. They were horrified.

This was a Catastrophe-grade beast, a powerful monster that had already killed tens of thousands of their comrades.

Facing this kind of beast, even the brave warriors of Harune were terrified.

At this moment, the Draconic Lion swooped down and brandished its claws, killing multiple warriors at once.

Roarr!!

“Don’t fight it! We must retreat for now!” Arcientus shouted anxiously.

His mana was dwindling down. If he stopped supplying mana to his chest, he would definitely collapse. Even a Mythical Knight couldn’t survive a major blood loss.

“Yes, Your Majesty!” Hearing his command, the Harunian warriors retreated.

Scilla and the other two didn’t allow them to escape. They pursued them relentlessly, like wolves unwilling to let go of their prey.

…

While Arcientus was trying to escape, Lucas kneeled right beside Alaric, his face filled with concern.

Alaric’s heart had temporarily stopped beating, but it fortunately returned to life after he injected mana into his body.

“My son… please wake up. If I lose you here, the result of this battle will be meaningless.” Lucas muttered as he continued to inject mana into Alaric’s body.

Suddenly, Alaric’s eyes sprang open.

Cough. Cough.

Blood leaked out from the corner of his lips.

“What happened?” Alaric grabbed his head, feeling disoriented.

Lucas let out a sigh of relief. He then smacked his head and said with a stern look. “I will punish you later. Get up. The battle isn’t over yet.”

Rubbing his head, Alaric grabbed his father’s hand and lifted himself.

He turned his head and saw Arcientus escaping with a large group of Harunian soldiers. He also saw Scilla and the others chasing after them.

Seeing this, Alaric no longer wasted time.

“Zephyr!” He called out, his voice echoing through the battlefield.

The Draconic Lion issued an excited roar. It turned around and landed in front of him with a ’whoosh’.

Roar!

Alaric looked at his father and nodded. “Let’s go, Dad. We still have an unfinished job.”

Lucas nodded.

The two jumped onto Zephyr’s back.

The Draconic Lion then flew straight into the air and chased Arcientus who was now riding a horse.

“Bring us down, Zephyr!” Alaric urged the beast.

Upon hearing his words, the Draconic Lion free-fell towards Arcientus.

Whoosh!

…

“Protect His Majesty! Don’t let the Astanian dogs get close!”

The Harunian soldiers defended Arcientus against the three pursuing Transcendents. They didn’t even hesitate to use their bodies just to buy time for the emperor to escape.

Hundreds of them had already fallen, but they had no intentions of backing down.

“Sir Einar, Sir Butch, we are pushing in!” Scilla only had a small amount of mana left so she planned to go all out before her energy core was emptied.

The two Transcendent Knights understood her intentions. They stimulated their energy cores and fearlessly pounced towards the Harunian warriors.

“Move out of the way!” The two shouted.

The Harunian soldiers tried to block them, but they were powerless against the two formidable warriors.

Screams of desperation and fear echoed along with the sounds of weapons clashing.

With Butch and Einar paving the way for her, Scilla gathered mana into her sword, instilling it with corrosive properties.

This was her SS-rank Corrosion integrated monster trait. It was also her most powerful ability.

She rarely used it because of its potent power, but the situation forced her.

Black substance covered her sword, slowly corroding it. This text is hosted at novel•fire.net

If it wasn’t for her mana protecting it from the corrosion, her relic-level sword would have already turned into liquid metal.

Suddenly, she leaped forward, bypassing the Harunian soldiers to attack Arcientus.

Whoosh!

Arcientus felt a sense of danger behind him. He instinctively swung his sword, somehow deflecting Scilla’s sneak attack.

Clang!

However, the corrosive power slowly corroded his sword.

What the hell is this?!

He quickly pulled his sword. He could hear a continuous ’hissing’ sound from the blackened part of the blade.

What kind of strange power was that? It almost corroded my mithril sword!

He looked at the woman who had attacked him with some lingering fear and repulsion. “It must be you, the one who summoned that filthy demonic creature!”

“I don’t know what you are talking about!” Scilla responded with a snort, refusing to admit.

Just as Arcientus was about to say something, he felt an overwhelming energy from above.

He looked up and saw the Draconic Lion swooping down upon him.

It’s them!

He saw two people on its back, including the young Transcendent Knight who was supposed to be unconscious.

Dammit!

He decisively activated his domain. He then wrapped his body with earthen armor, while also conjuring sharp spikes to attack the incoming beast.

“You are not getting away, Arcientus! You must die here today!” Lucas roared as he jumped off Zephyr’s back.

He released a wind blade with a mighty swing from his sword.

The wind blade collided with the earthen spikes, causing a multitude of explosions.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Arcientus thought that he had gotten away, but he found himself being yanked off his horse by a massive paw.

The earthen armor protected him, but he was still thrown away like a rag doll.

He quickly twisted his body in midair to land stably on the ground.

His face visibly turned paler as the gaping wound on his chest began to bleed profusely.

He quickly stopped the bleeding, but this also forced him to cancel his domain.

I should have waited for Donovan…

He regretted taking action.

All the sounds around him were suddenly muted when he was faced with this crucial moment of life and death.

He saw Lucas and the young Transcendent Knight rushing towards him in slow motion. He also saw the Draconic Lion pouncing at him while brandishing its sharp claws.

So this is where I, Arcientus Van Harune, will perish…
