Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Guodong, Li Xue, and Jing Chu all came in as well.

”Xue’er, why did you come? Guodong, take Xue back. You’re not needed here. Stay with her at home.”

”Second Aunt, wasn’t my sister-in-law doing fine this morning?”

”Yes, but she twisted herself getting off the kang. In this situation, it’s not safe to go to the hospital. Besides, with Doctor Xie here, we can just have the baby at home.

Xue’er, you and Guodong should go back. It’s not good for you to be here.”

”Sister-in-law, you and my brother head back. I’ll stay here, and when the baby is born, I’ll run back to let you know.”

”Okay, then I’ll be going back.” Hearing her sister-in-law’s cries from inside, Li Xue was quite scared.

Tao Yanzhen lowered her head as soon as Guodong came in, fearing she’d lose her composure.

In that brief moment, she could see Li Xue’s genuine happiness. She smiled bitterly to herself—that happiness wasn’t hers.

Jing Chu saw her brother and sister-in-law off, then sat on the other side of Qu Xiaoli, next to her future mother-in-law. She liked Qu Xiaoli, though not in the way that Wang Menglin valued her mother-in-law when marrying. But Jing Chu’s agreement with Chaoyang definitely had a connection to her mother-in-law.

She’s a warm person, sure to be very comfortable to be with.

Qu Xiaoli held Jing Chu’s hand, ”Don’t be afraid. Every woman has to go through this.”

Jing Chu didn’t think much of it. ”Sister-in-law suffers once and can save one more time.”

Jiang Xinyu heard what Jing Chu said and smiled. She was quite right after all.

The restrained cries from inside made the young men in the courtyard quite fearful.

Qu Xiaoli looked at them and told the three of them to go do what they needed to do.

”Xiao Zhen, don’t be afraid.”

The girl always kept her head down.

”Auntie, I’m fine. It’s already been more than an hour, how come the baby still isn’t born?”

How could she not be anxious? Her cousin’s life had been so hard and she finally started living the life she wanted. So why was she still suffering like this?

Jiang Xinyu noticed that this girl seemed a bit off, ”Xiao Zhen, you’re overthinking it. Actually, it hasn’t been that long. Don’t worry, your cousin is healthy.” She was afraid this girl might develop a psychological shadow.

”Teacher Jiang, I’m not scared, and I won’t overthink.”

Jiang Xinyu sighed inwardly, what a perceptive and delicate girl.

Li Yungui squatted by the wall, smoking. He was also anxious. His eldest son wasn’t home. While his daughter-in-law was in labor, he, as her husband, couldn’t come back.

Fortunately, the in-laws were from the army and were understanding, or else he would worry that his daughter-in-law wasn’t happy in her heart.

After more than half an hour, they finally heard the baby’s cries.

Qu Xiaoli stood up excitedly. ”The baby is born, the baby is born.”

”Yes, the baby’s born. The second one should come quickly.” Jiang Xinyu quickly calmed her down. She was just too excited.

After another quarter of an hour, the second child was born, the cries equally loud and clear.

Now, everyone in the courtyard breathed a sigh of relief.

Xie Chunfen opened the door, and the women all squeezed over.

”Congratulations, two boys, and the mother is doing well. The placenta is delivered, and the bleeding has stopped. Don’t worry.”

Qu Xiaoli clasped her hands together, muttering softly to herself.

Li Yungui also heard, truly he had two grandsons.

Tao Chunhe walked over to Li Yungui. ”Congratulations, Uncle.”

”Haha, same to you, same to you. Chunhe, let’s go make some calls, you can call home with the good news, and I’ll call Manjiang.”

”Alright, let’s go together.”

The two of them rode their bikes to the village; Xing Mingying congratulated Li Yungui.

”Chunhe, you go ahead and call home first.”

”Uncle, you call first. It will take some time for them to get Manjiang.”

Mr. Tao received the call from his grandson and burst into laughter. Laughing, tears fell. His wife hadn’t closed her eyes in peace before she died, worrying about Meng Lin. Now everything was okay; she had become a mother and of two sons at that.

Li Manjiang returned from his mission, injured. He was resting for a few days when he got the call, and his eyes turned red. His wife had risked everything to give birth for him, but he couldn’t be there for her, nor could he return immediately to see her.

This injury was worth it; it would surely result in a promotion. He must strive to bring his wife and children over.

After they left, they went directly to the supply and marketing cooperative and bought all the sweets. It was a cause for celebration.

The village now knew that the Li family had two grandsons, and everyone was happy for Li Yungui.

Qu Xiaoli was fondly holding the two grandsons. Watching her daughter-in-law drink soup, she was thoroughly satisfied.

Jing Chu and Tao Yanzhen stood aside watching.

”Auntie, why are these babies so red?” It looked like congestion.

”Newborns are red; they’ll turn fair when they grow up. They’ll definitely be handsome young men, just like their uncle.”

Wang Menglin leaned back, drinking soup, completely satisfied. The delivery went quite smoothly; seeing her mother-in-law so happy, it was all worth it.

”Jing Chu, hold the babies; when they grow up, they’ll be as pretty as their second aunt,” Wang Menglin joked.

”That would be great. If they resemble me, and they become close to me, don’t be upset.” Jing Chu smiled broadly, accepting the two babies.

”I’ll let you raise them.”

”Sister-in-law, you said it.”

Qu Xiaoli stood up, ”You two stay here; I’ll go make food. Menglin just finished her soup; I’ll go stew some fish soup for her to have when she’s hungry later.”

The Li family celebrated the two grandsons’ full month, attracting many outsiders this time. Wang Shulin and several village chiefs came over. Now that the spring planting was over, things weren’t particularly urgent.

”You always seem better than us, having two grandsons at once,” Liu Dazhi said with a smile.

”Indeed, today you should drink a bit more.”

”Sure, no problem, everyone drink up, this wine is homemade by me.”

Zheng Jixian was not in the best mood, unexpected that his niece had already slept with someone. It was infuriating, and she had even taken a liking to Li Yunqiang, a man only a few years younger than himself with four sons at home. But today was Li Yungui’s big day, so he wore a smile on his face.

”Brother Zheng, don’t just drink, have some food,” Li Yunqiang greeted.

Zheng Jixian smiled and nodded, observing Li Yunqiang reminded him of that man surnamed Yin. Both possessed scholarly looks, and he sighed inwardly at his niece’s recklessness.

”Yunqiang, why don’t you find someone else?” Zheng Jixian asked, since his sister was no longer around. Despite his frustration with his niece, he still asked.

”Haven’t found the right one, I’ve met a few, but none felt right. At my age, I just want to find someone to live peacefully with.” Li Yunqiang answered with a smile.

”What kind of person are you looking for?”

”Someone I click with will do.”

Zheng Jixian thought, at this age, and still thinking like this?
