Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

At this moment, Du Fengying also came over.

”Hey, our little Guang is here, come, let auntie give you a hug.”

This child is already over four months old, looking robust and chubby—not as dark as Lu Tiezhu, rather fair-skinned.

The little one often sees Jiang Xinyu, so he wasn’t shy and directly lunged over.

Jiang Xinyu held the little guy, looking at his cheerful smile, truly endearing.

”Xinyu, I won’t go down to work in the fields. I came over to help Sister Zhang take care of Xiao Li.”

”That’s a trouble for Sister Du.”

”No trouble at all. Xiao Li isn’t sad, is she?”

”Not very happy. Jing Chu is inside comforting her.”

”Sister Du, I asked Shi Jing to find Master Lu. Is your family eating here?”

”It’s already cooked; he was called by Village Chief Li to fix the sickle. He should be back soon. Don’t worry about tomorrow; I’ll come over with the child.”

Little Lu Guangming didn’t want to leave at all, but Du Fengying took him forcefully. However, he didn’t cry; such a child is the most adorable.

Guodong also came over, congratulating Old Yang, and the three of them returned.

They had just finished eating when Lv Beiguang came over. He is considered an elder to Zhao Xiaoli. Knowing about the birth today, he hurried over to see.

An adult man wasn’t suitable to go inside, so he just inquired about the situation, relieved to know everything was fine.

In the afternoon, many people came over one after another to offer congratulations. Jiang Xinyu prepared candies but no seeds.

Old Yang also received many gifts. The least was two yuan. This was quite a substantial gift.

Coincidentally, the wedding banquet for Mai Qiu will allow everyone to celebrate with a meal.

There wasn’t any mood to discuss these matters now. Qu Xiaoli also came over with a set of small clothes.

”Old Yang’s family isn’t comfortable during this postpartum period. It’s too hot.”

”Yes, but it’s pretty good that it’s not during the hottest days of summer.”

”Next month my eldest daughter-in-law will give birth, sitting the month will also be uncomfortable.”

”Sister-in-law, twins might arrive early, you should be careful.”

”Hmm, I know. Doctor Xie and Doctor Liu both said it during their pulse diagnosis; there are no signs yet. Xue’er said she would go accompany her sister-in-law.”

”Hmm, having someone around is good.”

”Indeed, my heart is uneasy, but I feel embarrassed to take leave when it’s so busy. So, let Xue’er accompany her.”

The whole village came to offer congratulations. Although Old Yang usually had a stern face, everyone saw him smile this time.

The educated youths also planned to come over. However, their gift was just one yuan, which Old Yang didn’t mind.

The families in the village with several daughters sighed. Others had two sons, while they had three or four daughters, making them envious.

The next day was the bustling autumn wheat harvest. It was a race against time, fearing rain would ruin it.

Li Yungui and the others split up, with Li Yunqiang overseeing the threshing ground. The bundled wheat brought over was directly put in, and the threshing effect was excellent.

Five threshing machines in a row didn’t take a break.

The elder ones were responsible for transporting the straw aside, while four strong laborers were in charge of spreading out the threshed grains to dry.

By the end of the day, however much wheat they harvested, the grains were all threshed.

People were delighted seeing this; the busy grains dried easily as well.

In every household, children made meals and brought them to the fields, with only a quarter-hour break after eating. There was no choice; they couldn’t let the grain remain unharvested.

These years, with better meals and not being too tired, everyone was energetic. Those who slacked off felt too embarrassed, with everyone working together; to be the only one slow was incredibly shameful.

Actually, it was Li Cunshan who was anxious; afraid of rain, he also thought about renting out the threshing machines to earn a fair amount.

But other villages’ wheat was still green.

In ten days, all the wheat was harvested, and everyone in Li Family Village lost two rounds of weight.

This year the educated youths also earned full points. With families established and not wanting to slack off anymore, plus with someone leading the way, they were enthusiastic. These days were scorching, and the grains dried quickly, so the wheat was all dried out.

Despite this, Li Yungui was in a bad mood. Someone operating the threshing machine lost three fingers, leaving them disabled.

”Yun Gui, Da Shuan has returned. He’s all right.”

”But he’ll be a disabled person in the future.”

Li Cunshan sighed. With such an incident, he didn’t want to rent out threshing machines anymore, fearing accidents.

”Yun Gui gave Da Shuan’s family three hundred yuan, which is quite a lot. It doesn’t hinder his work.”

”I know, I just feel bad inside. We warned them, yet such a mistake still happened.”

As the two were talking, they heard voices outside.

Li Yungui recognized Wang Shulin’s voice.

”I say, Yun Gui, why haven’t you sent the threshing machine to me? Waiting for me to come and fetch it?”

The Lin Family Village has also been electrified and can naturally use the threshing machines now.

Li Yungui poured Wang Shulin a bowl of water, ”I don’t plan to lend it to anyone anymore. Shulin, don’t be in a hurry, listen to me first.

Someone from the village had an accident with the threshing machine, lost three fingers. I feel bad, it’s too dangerous.”

”Then you won’t use it in the future?”

”I will, but if when it got jammed, he had cut the power first, nothing would have happened.”

”I still want to borrow it. If anything happens, it’s not your responsibility.”

Wang Shulin was really anxious. The day after Li Family Village’s wheat harvest, he came over. Seeing the threshing machine left him envious.

”Shulin, I can’t lend it. How about this, I’ll sell you two machines, how about it? Let me tell you, it’s one thousand yuan per machine, I’ll give you two for one thousand one hundred, including transportation costs.”

”I’ll take both. But the money will be paid after the wheat is harvested.

Yun Gui, you can order more. I know these were made by Xiao Wei and the others.”

Li Cunshan had no objections; being in-laws with Wang Shulin made selling to his village okay, and Xiao Wei had prepared many parts that were hard to produce.

”Alright, they’re all yours.”

Wang Shulin sighed with relief. The village was counting on him too, and he didn’t have time to linger here.

Li Yungui gave many instructions, teaching them how to use the machine, especially covering safety matters. He reiterated them multiple times.

”Alright, I understand. Why not send someone knowledgeable with us now to teach us?”

Li Yungui had the children find Li Yunqiang, asking him to ride a bicycle over.

This made him much more at ease.

Li Yungui hurried to find Wei Kaiyun. They needed to quickly make more of these threshing machines; they were now planting corn, and there were still many idle hands.

Wei Kaiyun smiled and told Li Yungui, ”Master Lu has already made three, this time the price is one thousand five hundred.”
